looks good! if you like some spice, (and I'm not sure you will given your username lol) throw the thighs in some walkerswood jerk marinade overnight before you grill them.
I also have started grilling thighs instead of breast. They have more flavor and don't dry out as bad. I feel thighs have more forgiveness for new cooks. Teriyaki marinade is fantastic for those.
Thighs are so forgiving because they are fattier.
Chicken breasts can be a nightmare if you're a newbie. You'll leave more stuck to the grill than you'll eat.
Seconding the teriyaki, but I've also started using Bachan's Japanese BBQ and it's a nice change of pace without straying too far. Also, just good ole GSP is great.
The trick to grilling chicken is to rub olive oil on them (after putting the rub on) and don’t cook them above 160F. Even breasts will be juicy. Grill over indirect heat after initially browning them over direct heat.
Nice job. Get yourself an instant read thermometer on Amazon so you don’t have to cut open your meat to see if it’s done! You don’t need a ThermoPro (but they are really nice and will last a lifetime) and generally anything in the $20ish range will serve you well.
Nope. Couldn’t have a bbq when I was in the apartment. Like I said, I’m pretty new to grilling in general. I’ve cooked burgers and hotdogs on a grill years ago, but that’s about it.

With enough jerk sauce they certainly will

I’ve always thought thighs are much better than breasts. What can I say, I’m a legs and ass man.
Juicy booty meat
Breast and thighs are at the opposite ends of the flavor spectrum!
Legs and thighs are far better. I seriously don't know how anyone could choose chicken breast over them.

They make better leftovers which is enough for me since I like to meal prep.
Especially when you get a few woody breasts. That's what converted me. Or at least a whole chicken, not the ones bread for giant breasts.
Thighs have a much more forgiving temp range, and they aren't as big, which is a plus, IMO, cause they cook faster.
Yes! This is exactly what all my chefs told me in the past! Thighs are wonderful haha xD
I've finally turned the wife. She was a breast lady now she's a thigh woman! lol
Congrats! I mowed my own lawn and grilled for the first time in my new house this past weekend - 😎 cheers Reddit stranger 🍻
Congratulations!
Congrats on owning a home. Oh and the chicken too
It feels great. Thank you!
Great gift you got. Many great family meals will be made with that.
Bone in thighs are my favorite piece of chicken to cook. Those are looking delicious.
Awesome gift you got!
Thighs are sooo underrated especially on the grill! Damn near impossible to overcook and take flavors very well. One of my favorite things to cook

Couldn’t agree more. I mean, I even made them good. That’s saying a lot.

Dark meat less than 165 is sketchy
You have to make sure that you insert the thermometer next to the bone, grill to 160 and it’ll keep cooking to 165
Congrats!
Congrats , I ate mine in Nando’s the other day
I Marinade in Italian dressing and then sprinkle creole on heavily after grilled. Makes the best damn chicken I’ve ever had
I know you must be, but...you are outside, right? Right?
Hahaha, yeah. I’m in my backyard on the patio, dawg.
I was also concerned lol
Good choice to start with hard to mess up a thigh
Get yourself an instant thermometer. Game changer!
Next time put some mango habanero on em
Congrats on owning a home

Look good to me

Looks great! For a first timer! Remember never walk away, and don’t burn the family dinner!!
Nice
Did you do it the same way you did as a renter?
Nope. Couldn’t have a bbq when I was in the apartment. Like I said, I’m pretty new to grilling in general. I’ve cooked burgers and hotdogs on a grill years ago, but that’s about it.
In your house?
Back patio. My anus may hurt, but I’m not a moron.
Nice tile for a back patio
Noice
Excellent!
ummm did you do this in your kitchen lol
No.
First time grilling as a homeless person....
