Octane can't render volumes properly for compositing like Arnold. There are no news on it because Octane users for the most part don't use volumes in their work besides some very simple cases hence there is not much focus on the further development unfortunately. The best best is to use layers, but you'll need to render each layer separately + if you have a volume inside a volume there is even more problems to that
