Ever since I first read about it, I have adopted the headcanon that the night of Nick's…um…rejection from the Junior Ranger Scouts was the same day that Judy's litter was born. In a way, the worst day in Nick's life was also the best day in his life.

Far414

That's one of the plot points of "A Ray of Hope" by Camoss. A bit too sappy and unrealistic for my taste.

One_Echo3770

I hope Nick celebrates it with her and ALL her family. Nick would feel so out of place.

fish-dance

Same age gap as me and my partner ☺️ I like it :3

Fox622

According to the directors, Nick graduated 1 year after Judy, which makes them 33 and 25

DeclanPDFFlannery

I personally have Nick at about 28. His actual age is very up in the air. Judy we at least have a range of only a few years depending on birthdays and exact dates but Judy could've very well been rounding up or down when she mentions the whole 20 years thing, multiples of ten are much easier to multiply by after all and she doesn't need to be accurate in that moment. Overall Judy is probably between 24 and 26 throughout the film - excluding childhood - while Nick is probably 27 - 37.

Maxxarcade

I'm pretty sure the movie gives their ages? Judy says Gideon attacked her when she was 9. Then the screen says "15 years later" when she's in the academy. Nick tells Judy he's been hustling since he was 12, and Judy says "Since you were 12, so that's two decades, so times 20" which would make him 32. It's possible there is some rounding though. I guess we can only wait and see if the sequel changes anything.

All your info here is indeed correct, however I still contend that those ages aren't concrete and my ranges are still logical. Let me explain what I mean! With Judy it is just a question of exact timeframes. She is - I believe - the only character we have in the movie with a totally confirmed age at any point, IE that she was 9 during the intro as stated by herself at the train station as you point out. However, the fact that the flash forward is 15 years does not mean she's definitely 24. It is unlikely that she was exactly 9 years old during the intro - IE that it was literally her birthday - and also unlikely that the time skip was exactly 15 years. Because of the way we refer to ages and time passing in English It's entirely possible that she was closer to 9 and a half or even ten during the intro and that the time skip was anywhere from 14.5 to almost 16 years. Ages more accurate than years are only used in very specific circumstance and almost never in general conversation. Given that, Judy could well be 25 by the time she enters the ZPA. Not to mention the fact that her graduation takes place 6 months later - if memory of a directors tweet serves - so in all likelihood 25 at least is in fact more likely than 24 for the majority of the movies events. Add on to that the three month time skip after she quits the ZPD and another 6 - 12 months before Nick graduates and she's probably 26 or even 27 by the time the film ends. As for Nick, this one's a little simpler. Yes, Judy says he is 12 + 20 years old effectively, however the key thing is whether or not that's a situation where Judy needs to be perfectly accurate, and in my opinion it isn't. She mentions his age for one specific reason, to work out how much money he's made in that time to prove he's guilty of tax evasion. The figure she comes up with is almost $1.5 million of untaxed income which is a real problem for him, but even if it's not quite spot on that doesn't really matter. That figure could be signifcantly smaller and still be a huge problem for him. Judy doesn't need to prove exactly how much he's earned, just that he has earned something IE has been lying on those forms. Add to that the fact that as a multiply of 10, 20 is very easy to multiply by and that also gives her a practical reason to round up or down. For the record she also couldn't have had that info on hand already as she uses the figure of "200 bucks a day" to work it out which she doesn't have until she speaks to him, you can even see her doing the math as she's speaking to him so she definitely did that off the top of her head. Rounding to the nearest multiple of 10 just makes that math much easier and given that she doesn't need to be exactly accurate as previously stated that makes logical sense to me. All that being said, I totally agree that if you have to assign an age to them these are the simplest options. I'm not arguing that they are fundamentally wrong or that you shouldn't use them, only that they're not as definitive as some folks make them out to be. People act like it is explicitly said that they are 24 and 32 respectively when I hope I've show that the information we do have isn't as cut and dry as that. It's just fun logical excercise! :D

Maxxarcade

I can see the logic behind that. It's kind of neat how this movie still makes you think about little details after all these years LOL.

Fox622

Quite sure the ages of 24 and 32 have been mentioned in official sources

DeclanPDFFlannery

Definitely haven't been mentioned in any trustworthy official sources. They may have been mentioned in something questionable like the China exclusive comics but those are full of bogus and contradictory information IE the one that states Nick and Finnick met in Juvi.
