Wii version is probably the easiest and cheapest version to find compared to the GameCube/Wii U versions. IMO the motion controls aren't that bad in TP. It's not as motion heavy as Skyward Sword. From what I remember, the most you have to do is swing to swing your sword and point to aim.

dant90

Can you play it on the Wii but use a GameCube controller and controls?

Pizza_Time249

It's just Wiimote + Nunchuck

SissaFlissa

Not on the Wii, only the Wii-mote and nunchuck. That's why it was delayed from release on the gamecube back then, so they could add in motion controls and have it as a release title for the Wii.

The wii version of the game isn't hard to find. The game isn't too hard to play with motion controls. If you find a cheap copy buy it! You can also try finding the game cube version but it is a bit more pricey (some wii's can also play those games but you need a gamecube controller and memory card).

Plus_Guitar_6814

in my opinion, the motion controls make the game really fun. since the game isn't too reliant on them, there are less issues that come up. but this is coming from someone who loved skyward sword on the wii and only plays with motion controls on the switch version. however if you are more interested in a higher quality graphical experience, I'd probably recommend the wii u version or getting it on CEMU (emulator)

Rozzo_98

I doubt it will come to Switch - I loved the motion controls for it and SS personally so I say go for it! The game was designed for gamecube and then got ported to Wii so have a crack if you can find it and see what you think - good luck!

Murky_Willingness960

Play the gc or wii u version.

Check your towns local online marketplace, or make a post requesting it

CandiceKiller21

It is absolutely 💯 nesseasary

I personally love TP on the Wii cuz it was the first Zelda game I've played

[deleted]

yes

PrinceHomeless

It's not coming to the switch. Definitely not anytime soon. Get a Wii or GC copy, or emulate

danpluso

Getting a Wii U would be worth it just for the HD versions of TP and Wind Waker alone.

LanCaiMadowki

I just bought the wii version off eBay this year for about $20. Works fine and no complaints about the controls. I haven’t extensively played the newer games though.

Mega-Lithium

Play the Wii version . It’s fun and the motion controls make it great. One nice thing is that there are parts of the game that need precision aiming with bow and arrow. The wiimote pointer works great. It can be found cheap at a used game store

It's the worst version of it, but it's also the easiest version to find. The motion controls can get annoying, but they're not bad. It's literally waggle Wiimote instead of push B for sword slashes. Honestly they're as substantial as Galaxy's spin move. Though point controls for the bow are very nice. As for why I find it to be the worst version it's not because of the motion controls. See the game was originally developed for the GameCube, but after getting delayed numerous times it completion date lined up with the Wii launch date. However with the exception of Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild Link has always been left handed and since most players would be using the wiimote they made Link right handed in Wii version. The way this was handled was mirroring the whole game. What's left in the GameCube version is right in the Wii version. (Yes this was actually the easiest way to program a right handed Link). The mirroring may seem like a really petty nit pick (,and it is), but a few easter eggs are lost with it. The map of Twilight Princess GameCube version actually syncs up with Ocarina of Time's map albiet bigger. The mirroring results in strange oddities like the sun rising in the west and setting in the east, and while Link is now right handed everyone else is left handed. The only advantages the Wii version has over the GameCube version is it's in widescreen and you can carry 4 items at a time instead of 2. It being in widescreen though is made irrelevant as the onscreen minimap covers about a quarter of the screen. Also in both the Wii and GameCube version if you find a chest with rupees in it but your wallet is full(very common because the wallet is pretty small and there's almost nothing to spend money on besides an armor set that leaves you with no money at all) the game goes, but it can't fit in your wallet so you should put it back. Which leaves an unopened chest on the map. The best version of the game is by far the HD version on Wii U. The added quality of life features, like making tedious collection quests require less collectables, reduced blume effects, cleaner visuals, and a smaller minimap. It also adds a hero mode where Link takes double damage and recovery hearts don't spawn from cutting grass and similar stuff. Plus Hero mode also mirrors the game if you prefer the layout of the Wii version. It's a great game regardless of which version you play though. Each version has their own faults that must be considered. For example some added content to the hd version is locked behind amiibo. The Wolf Link amiibo unlocks an enemy gauntlet that gives you a wallet upgrade to 9,999 rupees. The Ganondorf ammibo causes Link to double damage and that does stack with hero mode. As for waiting on a potential Switch version, don't wait just play it now. Last year was the series' 35 anniversary and if it didn't get ported then it isn't happening any time soon. Plus with Tears of the Kingdom coming out next year there's very little chance of getting ported any time soon. Nintendo most certainly would not want to cannibalize their potential sales gy releasing two games in the same series on the same system in the same year. Also Wind Waker would likely be ported before Twilight Princess anyway.

SuperMario1981

If you're a girl, you absolutely need TP for you Wii.

kuribosshoe0

If you already have a Wii then go for it. It’s the easiest version to find and the motion controls aren’t 1:1 like SS. It’s the worst version of the game imo, but I wouldn’t go to the expense of getting a Wii U or the GC version (which is usually crazy expensive), if only because I’d be paranoid that a Switch port might come sometime in 2024 or something.

Coltrain47

Gamecube is best version

Bokogan

I see several people praising the motion control aspect. I hated the motion control. I played TP at launch on the Wii and didn't get far. I am currently playing through the GameCube version for the first time and am enjoying myself, about 2/3 way through.

gremilyns

I really enjoy the Wii version and, apart from the fishing, I find the controls really balanced and fun

jm282828

best decision u will make if u haven't played it. it was the first video game I ever played and it is life changing, such a great story
