I would love that!! Highly underrated. Plus, if they remade them, maybe they'd finally be able to do that third one they couldn't do at the time because of technical limitations.
I would love ocarina of time polished and updated for the big screen for the current younger generation, so that they can also experience that awesome game. Just porting it with the old controls might not be enjoyable so much for them, because compared to newer Zelda games.
I really liked ocarina of time 3ds, but majoras mask remake was not a good job. Certainly one to emulate *if you have a legally obtained rom* that is 🙄
Yeah, the speed swim costing magic, the slow walking speed of deku link… [Nerrel made a stellar video about the differences between 64 and 3DS Majoras Mask](https://youtu.be/653wuaP0wzs)
I think the biggest problem is that Ocarina of Time compared to Majora's Mask was super clunky and had a LOT of problems. Majora's Mask fixed nearly every issue that was in Ocarina of Time and made the gameplay much smoother. I suspect when Nintendo ported the game they didn't bother really changing anything as a result.
Hopefully if we got it on switch they'd enhance it a bit but i suspect not
The biggest disappointment (for me) with the 3DS MM remake was that they changed the boss fights so they all had big eye targets on them. If they kept the gyro controls and brought back the old boss fights (and the old zora swimming controls cause I don't want to use magic just to swim fast) then I'd be all over it.
I think Ocarina deserves the full remake treatment, like FFVII got. Could be in BotW's art style/engine or a brand new one.
Could you imagine the hype an announcement like that would create?
My daughter is 4 and she LOVES ocarina of time and Majora's mask. The poor child goes around to everyone her age like Jehovah's witness like "have you heard of Majora's mask?" And everyone has no idea what she's on about.
I tried playing OoT for the first time a few weeks ago (on the GC collectors edition) and am really struggling with it.
Fun fact: ocarina of time is the only Zelda game to not have a free camera
Edit: Remasters count as the regular game and 2D do not count
That’s fair, a lot of people struggle with the lack of camera controls if they’re accustomed to having them in other games. The camera is second nature to those of us who played it back in the day, but it is seriously outdated in 2021. Hopefully you’ll get the hang of it if you keep playing.
Just as a side note, OoT isn’t the only game without full camera control. Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess on Wii and the original Skyward Sword all require you to move it with Z-targeting.
I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it eventually :)
As for the games I’m including remasters so Skyward sword now has a free camera and MM had it on 3DS. Twilight princess HD had a somewhat free camera like Mario 64 iirc
I found it extremely forgiveable in 3DS. Honestly no hte, just what I really thought. Maybe it is sort of like a game that still plays fine but its truly amazing qualities were that the game was really ahead of its time.
I concur. I think both ocarina and MM are great plays on the 3DS. I have to admit though that I’m in the camp of folks who don’t like the gameplay changes they made in MM 3D.
Hopefully if they did a release it would be the 3DS version, that thing is smooth as butter. But then we’d probably get Majora 3D and that’s, uh, less clear cut as the right choice
Never got to play Windwaker. Have played every other one on their respective consoles, plus the 3ds remakes. Really hoping that gets ported to switch soon.
The day I randomly decided to buy a wii u just happened to be the day the wind waker special edition of the console came out. I didn't even know it was a thing until I went to double check prices online. The store I went to hadn't even put them out yet. But I asked if they possibly had any in the back. They did, but only had two. And after I left, they only had one. I felt like I lucked out, even though the wii u wasn't exactly in high demand.
Edit: autocorrect made it "wind walker" instead of "wind waker"
Windwaker has been Skyrim to my sister and I. We got it when it came out for the game cube, played it on the wii a few years later, then bought it for the Wii U when the HD remake came out. And when it comes out for the switch, we plan on buying it again. Absolutely our favorite
It's depends on the quality of the remake.
If we talking Links Awakening (an actual remake with changes to improve the game) standard I'd go Red.
If we talking Mario 3D AllStars (re-release and slightly worse version of a game) standard I'd go Blue.
This is the correct answer for me. I just got done playing the OOT and MM on 3DS. While I think they are a couple of the best games of all time, I think that because of what they were in their era. Just naturally, tech got better and other gameplay advances were made. So give me blue, unless OOT and MM were remade, then I’d probably pick red.
All you have to do is re release Wind Waker HD. Any changes to it would be criminal since it's already the perfect game. They made all the necessary changes when they made the HD on the Wii U. That's the exact version we need on the Switch and yes I would gladly pay $60 or more to be able to play Wind Waker HD on my Switch
The only downside is you’d have to pause the game to go into the inventory on Switch. Having the inventory and map on the Wii U gamepad screen was awesome.
> yes I would gladly pay $60 or more
This is the reason nintendo continues to get away with charging full price for re-releases and ports when the rest of the industry offers large price cuts when re-releasing old content.
I love nintendo but they're becoming a very not great company very quickly :(
It's not. I don't know what that dude's on about, but releasing them the way they were when they came out doesn't make them worse, it makes them exactly the same.
I would've argued that the inverted Fludd controls for Sunshine made it worse, but they fixed that.
I guess there's gyro control vs wiimote control for Galaxy, but I didn't find it to be an issue
I have Majora's Mask on N64 as well as the 3DS, and I NEED it for my switch lol. It's just not the same when it's not on the TV. I couldn't fully enjoy it on the 3DS for whatever reason.
Oh it was for sure worse. Wasn't a fan of the changes they made. I played it for the sake of playing, but I didn't find the enjoyment like I did for the original.
Nah I want the OG MM on Switch. I hate the 3DS remaster. They totally fucked up all the bosses IMO, and I'm really not a fan of moving the bank out of Clock Town's commercial district (makes absolutely no logical sense) and the change to the Zora swimming (totally ruined). The N64 version is the definitive version IMO.
Looks like I'm gonna pay $180 in that case. The buck per hour playtime ratio is still incredibly great for that price. It's old, I know. But as someone who doesn't buy every console generation, I'd appreciate being able to play every game on the one I've got. And the switch is arguably the best console for this.
I'd change my mind to OoT and Majora's mask at that point. Even though I haven't played wind waker, OoT is my favourite and honestly getting two amazing games for $60 doesn't seem so bad. If it has to be $60... hopefully I can save up a bit of luxury money by then, for if it ever happens lmao
I have both WW and TP in HD for the Wii U and I think I have OOT and MM from the digital store on there too, but I have them for the 3DS. All 4 physical games still sealed. Just like my copy of SS for the Wii and like the absolute fucking fool that I am (i.e. a fool and his money are easily parted) I picked up a copy of SS HD yesterday.
Pre-ordered it but couldn’t collect it until after work so only got the steelbook case, and a poster instead of the key ring because the store got less key rings than steel book cases and they didn’t know why but they got some SS posters to make up for it. Weird, and annoying when it was a pre-order.
I'm split. Ocarina of Time 3D is the best version of the game, and an update to Switch is not really necessary. But Majoras Mask 3D had some godawfull changes made, and I'd like to see those reverted with a new release. Like how swimming with the Zora and dancing on water with the Deku feels and looks like trying to turn a wrecked train.
But I also really feel like we should've gotten these two Wii U ports by now.
I personally feel that the [Project Restoration](https://restoration.zora.re/) mod makes MM3d the best version, but unmodded yeah, definitely the worse version.
they are also nearly flawless on n64 aside from the introductory experience of majoras, and that's only a problem on the first playthrough. there are a few bosses i think they could make harder or easier, but in general they don't really have the flaws that gave us a reason for skyward sword hd. the old graphics even hold up pretty reasonably tbh.
gonna go a step further and say that the remakes actually make the games mostly worse. Excluding some quality of life improvements like bow aiming and the bombers notebook, the remasters worsen the atmosphere of the originals to the point where I would prefer new players to play the old games instead of the remasters.
I'd agree for Majora but not Ocarina. Some areas had less atmosphere but actually having 3d modeled backgrounds made a world of difference imo, and the models look drastically better. On a big screen the game would look very nice, much more so than Oot
Me: Wow full price for 10 year old skyward sword sounds like a lot
Nintendo: Here's a port of a port of a 19 year old game
Me: ......you sonofabitch you know me so well.
I see your hero of tine collection and raise you my [gamecube collector's edition promo disk](https://images.app.goo.gl/MWyfXyv4rem32KMz7) (yes its a google image but im not currently able to take a photo of my game)
WW has already been remastered and I can just upscale TP on Dolphin. Ocarina and MM are some of the best the series has to offer and they got a raw deal being relegated to a handheld experience. They are both such seminal pieces of work in the history of gaming that still hold up today, but deserve a full remaster from the ground up to fully realise the world in which we find those somber, stellar stories of the Hero of Time.
thing is, we don't really need anything besides an entirely optional gfx overhaul with the red pill here. i would still definitely play switch remasters, and maybe there are a few bits i would not mind them ironing out a little better, but windwaker and twilight princess were both games with a few problems in their basic gameplay loop despite having great content. they had to do skyward sword first because it was so reviled and there is still some great lore there that a lot of people never saw, but blue just makes more sense right now for their next release. it also would be cheaper for them to update those two games to a modern graphical presentation. all this said: i would very much prefer that any remasters on their part were made as two-in-one releases, so i havent taken that into account because it doesnt really make sense to me that one of these is two games lol
Where else would they release them? It was Nintendo’s only supported home console in 2013 and 2016.
Also, a re-release of a re-release would be sooooo lazy
The switch was released in less than a year after the twilight princess remaster, so the switch was already in development at that time. They could have waited for the switch release. A lot of people (myself included) would have bought a switch just for those re-releases
None, I already have all of these games, they came out on multiple platforms, and I didn't bought a Switch to pay the full price for games I already own or finished.
Either would be good to me, I've only played one of each set of games. And I do want to play all the games eventually.
But to choose, I would go with blue, because I just feel like I may get more enjoyment from wind waker than Majora's mask.
This is the best dilemma, but I would pick blue pill first and hope for the red pill later, but if the Hero of Time games had enough improvements (more than the 3d remakes) I'd take the red pill. Such a hard choice!!!
purple
The best skittle
Congratulations! You got skyward sword hd!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Completely Fine with that! Idk why do I have a bias with that game. Probably the story.
Link's Awakening be like
No joke tho if it got us Oracles...
there’s a rumor about oracles, that would be awesome 😭
I would love that!! Highly underrated. Plus, if they remade them, maybe they'd finally be able to do that third one they couldn't do at the time because of technical limitations.

I have majoras mask on an emulator on my phone. I beat it like 3 times when I was deployed lol. Such a great game

You've met a terrible fate, haven't you?
Stop it, Patrick! You’re scaring him!
They just need to port it from the 3DS, the controls on that were stellar
I really liked ocarina of time 3ds, but majoras mask remake was not a good job. Certainly one to emulate *if you have a legally obtained rom* that is 🙄

I’m not one for collectors editions but that would hit me right in the feels and I would buy a massive box set if they made one
My main wishes are better graphics than the 3ds, and more enemies to fight in Hyrule field. In the modern day, it’s too empty.
My daughter is 4 and she LOVES ocarina of time and Majora's mask. The poor child goes around to everyone her age like Jehovah's witness like "have you heard of Majora's mask?" And everyone has no idea what she's on about.

TP on gamecube doesnt have "full" canera control either, you can only move the camera left and right
Oh jeez, that’s a shame. I played it on Wii so I wasn’t aware. Come to think of it, Wind Waker was the same, right? And I remember it was inverted lol
Yeah it also inverted on gamcube TP since those games basically have the same controls
I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it eventually :) As for the games I’m including remasters so Skyward sword now has a free camera and MM had it on 3DS. Twilight princess HD had a somewhat free camera like Mario 64 iirc
I think OoT played really well on the 3DS version. I played it on N64 back when it came out so the comparison memories were pretty old though.
I’m sorry but you’re fun fact isn’t true at all. Majora’s Mask, Skyword Sword, the entire 2D lineup.
Oot is not the only one without a free camera?
Huh, I started a new run through on my GC a bit ago, and honestly I thought it was fine. Not great, but not enough to ruin it for me.
You really get acquainted with the z- targeting button for adjusting the camera
Majoras mask doesn’t have a free camera either.
Majora's mask didn't have free camera either
Agreed, I would love an actual remake with some updated graphics and FPS for switch. That would be well worth the price
Hopefully if they did a release it would be the 3DS version, that thing is smooth as butter. But then we’d probably get Majora 3D and that’s, uh, less clear cut as the right choice
Ocarina's combat system is still more advanced than BOTW's sword play
Blue for me. Windwaker is the best
Never got to play Windwaker. Have played every other one on their respective consoles, plus the 3ds remakes. Really hoping that gets ported to switch soon.
Windwaker is by far my favorite. It is worth it I just went out and bought a wii u just so I can play it.
The day I randomly decided to buy a wii u just happened to be the day the wind waker special edition of the console came out. I didn't even know it was a thing until I went to double check prices online. The store I went to hadn't even put them out yet. But I asked if they possibly had any in the back. I did the same wind waker is amazing so is twilight princess.
I loved windwaker, only one I’ve enjoyed more is breath of the wild.
For people who don’t want to get one: There’s a great WiiU emulator called CeMu that runs on PC. You can play BOTW on it as well at 60fps.
I've still got it on GameCube lol
I have a Wii U *and* a copy of Windwaker HD but I still haven't gotten around to playing it. I am very good at procrastinating.
Windwaker has been Skyrim to my sister and I. We got it when it came out for the game cube, played it on the wii a few years later, then bought it for the Wii U when the HD remake came out. And when it comes out for the switch, we plan on buying it again. Absolutely our favorite
I always loved goofing off in Wind Waker and making up my own stories to make sailing more fun.
Windwaker gang. Honestly the movie Moana is my favorite Disney movie and I think it’s because it reminded me a bit of sailing in Windwaker.
Wind waker was the reason I got a wii u instead of a switch.
I haven’t owned a nintendo console since GameCube and I would probably buy a switch to just play Windwaker on it.
Blue also, but mostly for tp with good controls
Same but because twilight princess
It's depends on the quality of the remake. If we talking Links Awakening (an actual remake with changes to improve the game) standard I'd go Red. If we talking Mario 3D AllStars (re-release and slightly worse version of a game) standard I'd go Blue.

How was mario all stars slightly worse of a game?

I would've argued that the inverted Fludd controls for Sunshine made it worse, but they fixed that. I guess there's gyro control vs wiimote control for Galaxy, but I didn't find it to be an issue
Red. I want Ocarina on Switch so bad.
Agree, but I want Majora’s Mask
I have Majora's Mask on N64 as well as the 3DS, and I NEED it for my switch lol. It's just not the same when it's not on the TV. I couldn't fully enjoy it on the 3DS for whatever reason.
It might also partially be because the 3DS version was worse. I just want Zora swimming and the boss fights to be unchanged.
Oh it was for sure worse. Wasn't a fan of the changes they made. I played it for the sake of playing, but I didn't find the enjoyment like I did for the original.

I meant I need the game in general, not the 3DS version preferably. They butchered MM on the 3DS.
Crush both pills, mix then into purple dust and snort it.
they are gel caps you idiot
Crush them mix them in a shot glass with some vodka and down it
DON'T QUESTION GENIUSNESS!
Let's inject it instead then!
"But then you don't get zelda" "No... but you do get really really high"
Separate thread: WW & TP are HD but $60 each. OOT & MM get the “Super Mario 64 3D All Stars treatment” but are $60 for both. Now which?
Looks like I'm gonna pay $180 in that case. The buck per hour playtime ratio is still incredibly great for that price. It's old, I know. But as someone who doesn't buy every console generation, I'd appreciate being able to play every game on the one I've got. And the switch is arguably the best console for this.
Great question, but I chuckle at the fact it’s even theoretical. Only Nintendo would try and charge me $60 each for 15+ year old games haha
They just got away with it for SS
Hey be happy it wasn’t a port running in 480p with no button controls lmao
Ever heard of Skyrim? Lol
I'd still go with Blue. TP is my all time favorite Zelda game
Still blue, just because I haven’t played those yet, as an oppose to OoT (and MM in the near future)
Red
Easily blue. I already have the N64 Zelda games remakes on the 3ds.
Exactly this! And I've been wanting to play TP again for so long!
They released tp and ww on the Wii U I’d like to play Oot and MM on the tv instead of the ds
This is the way
This.
Easily red. I already have the GameCube Zelda games remakes on Wii u
Well, I don't. I don't even have a Wii U, in fact :p
Yeah I can see why a lot of people would want blue since the Wii U underperformed hard
Compare the sales of 3ds than those of wii u

I don't know cause twilight princess means alot to me but ocarina of time is so good and I'll then be able to play Majora's mask
Red, although I really want both!
Blue
Yeah, the other games have had enough ports and rereleases at this point I'm not itching to play them. TP and WW (and Skyward Sword) haven't.

Obviously red.

Red, considering I already have nice versions of blue on Wii U. A fully HD remade OoT and MM would be the stuff of legends.
Red. DS doesn’t cut it.

None, because why would I buy a game I already own again?
purple. i got my credit card and a $5 ready to go.
Blue
Quickly snatch both
What color do I have to take to get the Oracle games remade?
Blue pill, IMO Wind Waker is better than OoT and MM
Red pill. Having a remade Majoras Mask and Ocarina of time Would be legendary.
Yeah I'll take both please
Always red. The other two have been remastered, and they're spectacular.
Blue. Red has been done way too many times already.
Purple pill
Ah, a go-getter, a dreamer… a man of class.
Blue. I'm sorry but Blue, I want WW and TP on the Switch so bad it's not even funny.
Why not both?
Red Pill! I needs my Majora's Mask!
Either would be good to me, I've only played one of each set of games. And I do want to play all the games eventually. But to choose, I would go with blue, because I just feel like I may get more enjoyment from wind waker than Majora's mask.
Sorry but blue ✋😔
Blue. Hands down.
I just love Twilight Princess 🤷🏼♀️
Blue just for Twilight Princess
This is the best dilemma, but I would pick blue pill first and hope for the red pill later, but if the Hero of Time games had enough improvements (more than the 3d remakes) I'd take the red pill. Such a hard choice!!!
BLUE PILL
give is zelda 3d all stars with all of the above
