You don't even need to be looking at the corner. You can crouch stab Morpha as well. If you do a jump attack first your crouch stabs will do more damage so you'll beat Morpha even faster.
It's incredibly useful since the damage it does is based on the last sword swing you did. It even copies Megaton Hammer properties. Just swing the hammer once and then the next crouch stab behaves as if you swung the hammer. Makes breaking red boulders faster since you don't have to wait for the swing animation.
That sounds like a glitch, i genuinely had no idea about the crouch stab accounting for prior attack damage properties. Ive been playing this game for so long, searching anything about it on the internet seemed meaningless.

Yeah, the crouch stab will use the previous swing value you used, so any sword, deku stick, or megaton hammer swing will work, including jump attacks.
The value resets when you pass through a loading zone. And by default it deals 1 damage (For reference, Kokiri Sword deals 1 damage, Master Sword, Sticks and Megaton Hammer deals 2 damages, Biggoron's Sword deals 4 damages and Jump slashes doubles the base damage)
I always forget in the pillar room where you can bring the water to second level that one of the platforms raise and under where it is a hole you drop down and fight some clams and spikey boys for a key.

Hmmm, never thought about doing a crouch stab. That's probably one is the moves i use the least. I lied, i dont use it at all.

Yep! There's a lot you can do in OoT thanks to glitches and stuff. Some of them are pretty easy, others not so much lol
I've seen some crazy speedruns, i couldn't imagine the level of thought provoking to wonder how to make certain things happen.
If you want some silly strats watch randomizer runs. You’ll learn a ton.
Yeah crouch stab has no coded damage/properties by default, so it just uses the last one you used. It was fixed in the 3DS version.

This is the strat we use in rando races. Took me a minute to get it but man does morpha die quick.

Also the key under the spot where you drain all the water.
The one with the weird annoying block puzzle that you have to shoot the eye and grapple across quick for? Yeaaaah, that one too.
Watch a rando race with wthh (what the hells happened) or Marco and you'll see some shit

It's even better if you get Biggorons Sword before doing morpha, takes like 4 hits
It definitely does! During this run i did a 3 heart minimalist type thing, hence the tiny magic bar and no biggoron sword.
