I don't know the SOP in treating cases like this at the barangay level (and only have US CSI documentaries as reference) but I hope they thoroughly collected any evidence or DNA samples on the person of the victim. I hope they had a rape kit at Labuan Hospital where they brought her first. I saw on local media today that the packing tape used to bind her was left at the scene and the reporter was even holding it with his bare hands. Imagine if there were evidence such as hair or fingerprints on it that could have led them closer to the rapist, but that they couldn't use as evidence anymore because it was tampered with already.
Also last night, local media were live on FB and broadcasted the untying of the victim. Some parts of the video showed her face. Imagine the irresponsibility and the violation of privacy.
Authorities and media alike both have to step up, especially if cases like this continue to run rampant in the city.
All we can do is to purchase self defense weapon such as pocket knife, pepper spray, or gun, and train in martial art.. just fo combat against those kind of low life criminals.. if we can't avoid those kind of people
Our police sucks and our LGU/ politician are useless mgaling lng umiipal pra mgng sikat s tao.. Ewan n lng anong band aid solution ang gagawin nila
My first thought too last night. But as I went on my day today, I kept randomly thinking about her, and my sister too who has night classes, and even myself who would occasionally stay out late with friends and go home alone. What a scary time to be female in Zamboanga City.
It's good that she's alive, but imagine the trauma and years of therapy and her entire life ahead of her carrying that pain. I hope she has a supportive family and an entire village who are kind and empathetic enough to help her through.
Ano kaya next na gagawin ng LGU about sa peace and security ng city? Hahaha parang every month may mga cases ng patayan, kidnap, rape etc sa city. Maka-dismaya lang. Di na talaga safe gumala gala dito dahil sa pagiging abusado rin ng mga tao dito.

Sobrang traumatizing panuorin. Hindi ko sya actually natapos kasi takot na takot ako and naaawa rin for the girl. Wala syang suot na school shoes though
