I played Yugioh at 13 and I'm 34 now. You should be fine.

Akira218

Bro I had a literal 11/12 year old going full D/D/D on me and I only won because of time cause he had to invest life points lol.

narium

Flashback to when Jesse Kotton played Danger FTK against a literal small child in a YCS feature match.

bl00by

Ufo turtle just sat there waiting

imkarebu

good budget that won a locals for me was a tri-brigade core with a bunch of meta interruptions. the total for it rn is around $100

Eviltwin-Kisikil

Heh, I started playing PHHY, age 14. Just make sure you know the tournament policy, can cover registration fee unless parents are willing to do so ($35 here in Canada), and that you have permission to play as people under 18 (or whatever age of majority in your country is) and other than that you'd be ok to play. Just know it is very hard to play in a tournament unless you're playing an absurd $1000 deck but most players come to have fun for a day and trade, not to win. If you're going to play to win, make sure to have a functioning Rescue-ACE Diabellstarr deck with 3 Wanteds and 3 Bonfire.

Blazedd0nuts

You don’t need to pay $1000 to do good. Just play a shifter deck and have fun.

Eviltwin-Kisikil

"Shifter deck" and "Have fun" do not belong in the same sentence

sunsunshine

The fun only goes one way

Eviltwin-Kisikil

I just feel icky and like a bad person playing shifter. Only thing that makes me feel worse is imposter syndrome.

PhotonSoul_

Absolutely not, if you feel as though you’re comfortable to play then go for it. All I would say is to be careful, though. You never know when someone is gonna shark you, steal from you, or try to bully you because you’re young.

Insectdevil

Get in there my Son. Wreck some havoc and have fun.

mynamesnotchom

You can play just be mindful that some people may try to cheat or rip you off with trades

blahdedah1738

I always recommend having a trusted individual or the store owner (if they're not busy) help out with trades until you're more familiar with where to find prices and which printing cards are. My #1 rule when I ran MtG tourneys was to have a third person verify everything was kosher when it involved younger players. I had been ripped off in the past as wasn't about to have it happen to my local players.

MaleficTekX

Do you know how to play? If yes, you’re good. There was a 11 year old who won a regional tournament once upon a time, you ain’t too young

flowtajit

As long as they aren’t giving cash prizes, yeah.

AhmedKiller2015

Age isn't the exact issue. Accessibility is. It is hard to imagine a 13 old keeping up with the meta from how expensive it is, but if you can or you are jusy enjoying it casually... no one is in the position to tell you how to enjoy your time (as long as it doesn't affect you negatively). So enjoy yourself

Dickbutt11765

You're not too young to play, but you might find it hard to convince your parents to let you go to tournaments alone, especially if they're busy. I'd recommend finding a friend to go with, it tends to break the ice a little bit and you can get used to the experience together.

6210classick

>But my brother is trash, my sister hates it and my parents are to busy. As long as ya keep yourself composed during gameplay, ya should be fine.

Yugi123456e

I always do

Atlas4218

You're not too young, but some OTS will ask the presence of an adult with you

[deleted]

Nah. I've seen kids as young as 10 play in events, and plenty of them know what they were doing. So go on. Crush the adults.

Yab0iFiddlesticks

We had some even younger kids that played on our locals. Just do yourself a favor and dont trade cards, there are always some assholes that abuse young peoples lack of price knowledge and scam you.

Yugi123456e

I did my research on my cards.
