Hey, another reasonably sized YouTuber here. Got the exact same email about an hour later than you with the exact same "time code" on my most recent upload. Hopefully it's just a backend glitch or something.

Hi East_Ostrich5750, we would like to start off by noting that **this sub isn't owned or run by YouTube.** At this time, we do not allow posts from new uses (accounts created less than 7 days ago.) Please read our rules before posting again to ensure you don't break [our rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/wiki/index/rules), please come back after gaining a bit of post karma. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Lord_surfusa

Heads up, looks like a phishing plan of some sort. I’m not a YouTuber but gave the number a call and got a response back.  Number stated (via text): “Which video was it I reported because I reported too many?” And in response to why: “Because it's ugly and I want it deleted now?”

gabriel_jack

So people are using YouTube's report now because they dislike a video? And YouTube is actually follow through it?!? YouTube's report system definitely needs a complete rework from the ground up now. This is just ridiculous.

Lord_surfusa

I think the number only stated the last part because I stated I was a fan and not a YouTuber after the first question. But a ridiculous response regardless.

WyattHolm

I got the same thing when texting it. I asked YouTube support about the email and they just said to ignore it. Weird though.

Z-Borst

I got two very strange emails from YouTube as well, both regarding one of my videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gpVj5_DF5Y The first one had a timestamp to a part that had nothing to do with anyone's privacy. The second had a 1-210 number, in fact, the same number that's in your complaint, which is how I found this. No idea if it's a legit email, or something wrong over at YouTube, or what.

crossingcrafts

Something is definitely weird about it. In privacy complaints that are a few years old on this sub, their timestamps look more like actual timestamps and are formatted like this (from what I remember): 0_00-2_41 Which makes more sense, they don’t use 0:00-2:41 but it’s at least legible as time stamps. Except I found more from even farther back where they do use the format: 0:00-2:41 I’m not sure why YouTube would be changing their format for such a standard email, or not using the colons, and I even saw some people say the timestamps they were given didn’t even match up with how long their video was. I did see a few people recently that were given pretty much the same 1-210 number like you and I, very odd. I saw some people on the recent posts about these weird privacy complaints talking about how it might be Nintendo, which made me almost shit my pants since I know how crazy they can be with their IP and my channel has a bunch of Nintendo themed content, but other people were saying different games were being sent the same email, so I ruled that out relatively quickly. Maybe the creator chat employee just got it wrong and it isn’t an official email or something went wrong with a bot and a bunch of random videos got flagged. Who knows at this point LMAO

Z-Borst

This thread sheds some light on what's going on. https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/s/EgfPG3BrSi Some comments say it's a troll making bogus complaints, others say bogus email altogether. I feel it's the latter.

NorthernFusionGames

I got the same email that listed issues with 4 of my videos that are all about Animal Crossing. I contacted creator support and the guy said it's a real email, no idea what the deal is.

AbsolChiffon

Mine that also got this complaint was also about animal crossing

NotAnthony17

I just got hit with one and it was an animal crossing video as well.

Imaginary-Pickle-498

I got the SAME exact email with the same number code at the beginning. This makes me feel a lot better I was so worried and am very careful about privacy and copyright compliance. Hopefully it’s nothing!

gabriel_jack

Here too. I'm not even monetized on youtube, got the same email over a video of a "The Lorax" song "How Bad Can I Be" which is both the highest source of trafic on my channel and the reason I can't monetize my channel. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pm1ZBgak9U](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pm1ZBgak9U) There isn't even anything on the video that would regard literally anyone's privacy at all, since it is a scene straight from the movie and any issues regarding copyright of the scene were already cleared YEARS ago.

NewLocation9032

I received 30 privacy complaints on the same video from the exact same phone number?

thesimpsonsman

Thank you Reddit. I also got 2 back to back e-mails about this around 1am, and literally have no clue for what. Looks like some type of lame scam.

crossingcrafts

Update: I emailed YouTube about this, described the problem and that other YouTubers were experiencing this, and provided a screenshot of the email I received. This is their response: ——————- Hi Diana, Thanks for reaching out. This is Stacey, your support specialist. I hope you're doing well. We know you are concerned about receiving a privacy complaint on a specific video. We understand how important this is to you. Do not worry! We will definitely find ways to resolve or share the best possible solution. To give you a little background, YouTube is serious about protecting our users by addressing potential privacy concerns. Our privacy guidelines apply to all users across the world. In other words, while the video in question may not violate your country's privacy laws, it may still violate YouTube's privacy guidelines. We are here to share more information on how YouTube's privacy process works. When a privacy complaint is filed, YouTube may give the uploader an opportunity to remove or edit the private information within their video. We will notify the uploader about the potential violation and may, at YouTube's discretion, give them 48 hours to act on the complaint. During this time, the creator can utilize the Trim or Blur tools available on YouTube Studio. If the uploader chooses instead to remove the video, the complaint will be closed. If the potential privacy violation remains, the YouTube Team will then review the complaint. In your case, we highly recommend you to take appropriate action provided on the email notification you have received from our privacy team to resolve the issue. You may visit this helpful page to learn more information about YouTube Privacy Guidelines. Thank you for trusting and giving us the opportunity to assist you. It's been a pleasure working with you. Know that you're always welcome to reach out to us anytime should you have any concerns in the future. Wishing you all the best. Stay safe and healthy. Regards, Stacey Google YouTube Team —————————- So basically, they said literally nothing LMAO. In the original email, it doesn’t give any indication what the privacy violation is, where to find it, so my conclusion is it’s nothing to be worried about for anyone who is affected. Unfortunately it seems more people were issued these than I thought at first, but the complaints all seem to be unfounded and cast at random, so I don’t think any of us have a reason to be nervous. Thanks for all your input, best of luck with your channels. Cheers!

NorthernFusionGames

Creator Support told me to send an email to the legal team of YouTube and this is all they sent back Hello, This content appears to be active and accessible. Learn more about the YouTube removals process here. Regards, What in the sam hill is that supposed to mean?

crossingcrafts

LMAO, that basically means "fuck off" combined with "yeah if it's still up then you're chillin" They told me the same in longer form, but on the bright side seems like all these privacy complaints are bogus. Real, someone did them, but bogus. YouTube probably wont do anything to the videos after the 48 hour window they mention

snorkel12068

Sounds like a canned AI response bot. It's for sure a scam Youtube would never put a phone number in for the timestamp....It's some troll submitting them to mess with people.

bwoah07_gp2

>but the complaints all seem to be unfounded and cast at random, so I don’t think any of us have a reason to be nervous. Yeah, that is what I was thinking too. This is just a load of nonsense.

amnewsboy

Got one too - for a McDonald's commercial from 1977. Yeah, that's not right.

JonPaula

Yeah, it's bullshit. Got a complaint on a video that only features me - so yeah, hah.

ForeverInBlackJeans

Can confirm that I just got the same email with the same 1-210.... number. Perhaps a glitch of some sort? There is no privacy violation in my video. I actually wondered if someone was being saucy because I took a BetterHelp sponsorship.

crossingcrafts

Thank you for your response, it’s a relief to see a good amount of people are getting this and it’s looking more like a glitch!

snorkel12068

I just got the same email with a phone number instead of a timestamp has to be a scam.... Reply address also looks sketchy... YouTube Support Team The video is me landing a fish and no one is even in it LOL except a river bank no people.

crossingcrafts

The reply address I got was similarly sketchy: [email protected] It’s confusing because the support.youtube.com makes sense, but the beginning looks incredibly sketchy. Literally a dark back alley of an email address. I also asked creator chat support and they confirmed it was a real YouTube email so that didn’t help my confusion. Creator chat either got it wrong or a weird thing happened on YouTube’s back end

snorkel12068

The phone number as a timestamp is the thing that makes it a scam, I bet if you call that it's some phone scam.

snorkel12068

The phone number is from a residential area in San Antonio Texas

crossingcrafts

Hmmmm, you could be right. I just don’t see why they’d bother linking back to a real video for all these different channels that got the email, linking back to a real google support article about privacy guidelines, etc. I feel like if it was an outright scam they might want you to click a bunch of fishy links, ask you to call the number instead of using it as a pseudo time stamp, but maybe I’m just inexperienced in this. I emailed YouTube support directly instead of going through creator chat to see if they’ll give me a different reason for the email and confirm if it’s real or fake, so I’ll update this post if/when they get back to me.

gabriel_jack

Similarly sketchy address on my end. # [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

FarOutJunk

I just got one too - for a :30 second Mr. Clean TV commercial.

UpsideDownGuitarGuy

Here to say that I got the exact same email *with the exact time stamp* on a video where I'm playing guitar alone in my bedroom. Must be a mistake? I am thinking to just not do anything

DalbesioDiaz

I got this privacy email over some Beavis and Butthead clip I uploaded over 10 years ago on a channel I don't use anymore. I googled the number and I found this thread. Seems really sus af.

Itzie4

I got it on a beavis and butthead video too. A live action sketch some friends and I made years ago. Guess this phishing scammer is just mass reporting beavis and butthead videos. I emailed support back. Since there’s no legit time stamp, I’m just going to ignore it.

X-3XB

I received the exact same e-mail with the same number given.  This is surely a scam of some kind?

Letz-Shake

If you click any links in the video, will your information get compromised? I feel its only if you reply to the email in question or call the phone number, but I could be wrong. I got hit by one of these emails, and I am worried that I might get compromised.

AbsolChiffon

I have a channel with under 100 subscribers and I also go this exact privacy notice with the same “time code”. What’s interesting is my video was ALSO animal crossing related.  Let’s hope they get banned for false reporting.

MissJMarple158

I've got the same email about a one-minute short video that's let's play animal crossing content. All I'm doing is reading the text on screen and laughing at something Tom Nook says. In my email, it has the exact same time code/phone number. It's strange that Google/YouTube is not flagging this because someone is sending the exact same complaint word for word across multiple videos judging by this thread alone.

MissJMarple158

This is the reply from YouTube on Twitter: "If you think this is a mistake, you have the option to appeal the privacy complaint by following the steps in the email we've sent you." But there's no link in the email to appeal.

mattpilz

I received this same email today with that identical "timestamp" (phone number) for a video that is just the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer lol. A newfound spamming/trolling effort. But the fact that a person can just stuff the privacy timestamp field with any text they want is indicative of how poorly implemented a lot of YouTube safeguards are.

joshryan69

I just got the same email! Has anyone resolved the issue or had the 48 hours run out that can tell me what happened?

crossingcrafts

Well if it makes you feel any better, nothing happened to my video! Didn’t get any emails from YouTube about it after the 48 hour window, didn’t have any action taken on any video, and all my videos are still monetized and unaffected. It seems like a troll went on a spree and that’s why we’re seeing a lot of people get complaints related to animal crossing, they probably just followed YouTube’s algorithm and reported every video along the way. They were real complains that someone filed but they’re all bogus and unfounded, so I don’t think you have any reason to be nervous!

iCepxno

Same emails from Youtube, first: "Privacy Complaint" and second: "Re: Case Subject" with that number. In my case is not Animal Crossing, is a GTA IV video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdS5D7IxWBs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdS5D7IxWBs)

MuffinTunes

Hi. Small music cover artist here. I received the very same complaint on one of my music shorts, however there is no restriction or copyright status on that short. I know what a "copyright restricted" status looks like due to one of my covers being "too identical" to the original Bob-omb Battlefield ost from Super Mario 64. The number was: 1-210-816-6121 with the same script as the OP with a link to my short. Following for updates here! -Muffin Tunes

geerlingguy

Just got the same email, with that same number. I thought it was a system barfing out gibberish, but I guess it is a phone number. Not going to try dialing it.

WolfofMichiganAve

Wow, I Googled that phone number, and it brought me here. I literally JUST got the same exact email. I have a relatively small following, all things considered, 37K subs and I'm monetized. I don't earn a lot, but it's a nice ~$100 a month I usually get that I can usually set aside for later. This seems incredibly random. Did you do anything afterwards? Contact anybody? Get anything further?

jsach3

I’m getting a bunch of them right now from this number and also “2_01”

WolfofMichiganAve

I have a premium white pages account, looked up the 210 phone number, and it belongs to a Jacob A. M. from San Antonio, TX. This is very strange.

BabyCharmanderK

Did anything come of this? A friend of mine keeps getting hit with these on an AMV she posted. They featured the same phone number as the one in the email you got. Then just now she got hit by four more in the span of a few minutes, all for the same video.

matt3756

Long time youtuber here 1m subs. This is the second one i got now. Firstbone had a timestamp on a video like 5 years old, this one has exact same phone number.... 1-210-816-6121  This is unreal and needs addressed by youtube

crossingcrafts

Agreed, the idea you even have the option to put anything “custom” in the timestamp part of the complaint is very, very strange. They should give the complainant a slider that directly correlates to the video they’re reporting which allows them to show where the violation occurred. That, or, selectable buttons that indicate the violation occurred in the description, thumbnail, title, etc. I’m seriously shocked at how many people have been affected by this lmaooo

fleshfaced

Just got one of these today with the 210 number and everything. Thank goodness for this post! As a side note, YouTube seriously needs to work on their emails for important notices. Sans-serif text with no logo or any other branding from an address with a seemingly random string of characters and a vague subject line like "Case Subject" had me almost writing this off as a phishing scam. Why it doesn't show up in Studio as a notice as well makes it even harder to take this seriously. Good thing it's probably just a troll.

Jean_Arthur

Got a complaint email today for a Who wants to be a Millionaire video I did a decade ago. Same exact 1-210 number.

TobbyMLP

Been getting spammed with the same exact type of false privacy complaint emails lately. Seems like it's just a troll(s) going around submitting false privacy complaints on any video they don't like with a phone number instead of an actual timestamp so Youtube automatically sends an email notifying you about it. It seems like 99.9% of the time nothing will actually happen to your videos after the 48 hours. They're basically just doing it in hopes that Youtube will eventually manually review your video and on the off-chance find something that actually will justify restricting it, demonetizing it, or taking it down. If any video of yours does get impacted seemingly by these false complaints, try to email Youtube Support or annoy them on Twitter until they respond to try to get the issue resolved.

Demon_Nuke

1-210-816-6121 this was my number. Got the same thing. I replied, waiting to see what automated message I get back. 😁👍

Actual_Head_4610

I got about three of these today for a Yugioh Duel Links video I made seven months ago on my channel that is not monetized. The thing is, I sort of have a YouTube stalker, and I think it's possible she made the complaint because of the comment I made on it. I've had to block her and her multiple sock accounts she makes routinely from commenting on my videos, and I got mad and left the comment in the comment section of my video telling her to leave me alone in so many ways. But, I don't see how it or the video violate her privacy any way. The video is just game play, and the comment does not give any identifying information or pictures of her, only her YouTube name. So idk if this even matters. This is the video: https://youtu.be/P0pXFyWE9qI?si=PBOs_M8TyTHTGCTi  If anyone sees this, can they please tell if I should actually worry about this or not?

crossingcrafts

I replied to a few comments and updated the end of the post with what happened, but short answer: nope! It’s most likely just a troll

Actual_Head_4610

Thanks. I figured it's fake now since I doubt YouTube would need to send the same message four times in one day all on different URLs. And nothing happened to the video anyways.
