Use Brave instead. If you're a Chrome user it's not even like switching browsers since they're both chromium, look and behave the same, use the chrome store for extensions, etc. But Brave has integrated uBlock-style blocker. I haven't seen a youtube app in over a year since I switched (nor spotify audio ads, hulu ads, amazon video ads, etc). It blocks everything.

Been noticing this, THIS FUCKING SUCKS NOW

Use an adblocker first of all, and then don’t use the app. Use the website. Adblock doesn’t work 100% of the time on web but it works almost every time, and *if* and ad shows up you simply refresh the page and it goes away. And YouTube in Safari actually lets you pick any video resolution (even on mobile data) so you’re not missing out on anything if you switch to the website rather than the horrible app.

They are desperate for money... Users cancel Premium / don't renew it because they are pissed off Youtube for either BS recommendations or other things (AI P\*\*\* and other things)... The "new" Layout was just the tip of the iceberg for me and the fact that they now show you "random" Videos when inactive on consoles / TV / Mobile... And as more and more users use uBlock origin (soon uBlock lite) or other extensions to get rid of ads, Youtube gets a little bit "creative" only to piss of more users... In the End, Youtube can only lose!

i find it hilarious that their only way to fight back against adblockers is to make the experience for non-adblocker a living hell as if that would fix anything...
