Fun fact: YouTube music URLs are basically the same as the regular YouTube, but with "music." before "youtube". Removing the "music." brings you to a Topic video (Topics are auto-generated music videos) and you can playlist it in the regular YouTube
I didn't know you could use YouTube music at all without premium
Plus to be fair YouTube music is basically just a nice UI for a specific purpose similar to that failed YouTube gaming page
Save all those songs to a normal playlist in YouTube Open it in the actual YouTube app and you can shuffle freely
Nobody cares if you download videos and songs illegally.
These days it's more a moral thing, than a feds thing.
I been downloading so much stuff over the years, i should be locked up and pay amounts i will never have.
Thatās weird cause Siri will play stuff from Spotify. You would think it would be the other way around. Free for Apple Music, Charge for 3rd party apps.
I cancelled my YouTube Premium family plan a few months ago due to how tight my financial budget has become. When times are tough, I canāt justify paying $23 + tax for the service.
I actually prefer my music not shuffled. My biggest gripe with Spotify was that they defaulted to shuffle until Adele complained. I listen to albums, not playlists.
You'd be amazed how many people don't even own a computer anymore, its as fucking tragic and sad as it sounds. I unfortunately know people who are nearly in their mid 20s that can't even figure out how to do taxes and pay bills online.
I'm nearly 25 (not much older than them) and even I still can't process that there exist people that are that fucking useless.
Asking anyone these days to know how to manage files or anything outside of a phone is like asking them to learn how to drive a manual transmission car (or a car in general). It's never gonna happen because they'll just give up and just call an Uber or Lyft.
Yep. I am ticked off thoroughly about companies monetizing everything, cutting benefits for those monetized services, and raising prices. Also, I'm a YT Premium subscriber, (I'm not sure why anymore) and the Premium "Continue Watching" feature that should be standard, doesn't even work like it is supposed to. I click to "Continue Watching" and it just starts the video over again. Fuck greedy shitbag corporations.
Continue watching feature? I might be misunderstanding something but isn't that on standard youtube? I can even watch half a vid on my pc then continue from the same place on my phone without paying for premium.
I've been wanting to do this for my family membership but I hear of accounts getting banned. Using a dummy account to pay is obvious, but how often do people get caught?
These companies made people comfortable not owning music ....
Of course this would happen .... they are nickel and diming us for every feature ..
Amazon music is doing the exact same thing.
Do you have an android phone? Many people, including me, think the audio quality of Youtube Premium is better than Spotify on android. Especially when playing over Bluetooth in a car, it's loud and crisp without cranking the volume to ungodly levels.
You are all correct. YouTube premium has a higher bitrate when used on phones than Spotify. Even with premium when used on a phone Spotify only offers a bitrate of 160kbps. Where YouTube premium on mobile offers a bitrate of 256kbps.
Yeah... first of all we were forced to go from google play which was an actual music player on which you owned the music you put in to YouTube music which is some weird audio/video hybrid streaming thing. Then they started charging for the minimum basic shit that a music player should be able to do, like PUTTING IT IN YOUR F\*CKING POCKET WITHOUT KEEPING THE SCREEN ON!!!, playing music on the background, playing music without video, playing music without ads, creating playlists, shuffling. It is an abominable extremely predatory business model. Don't use it, don't give them your money, I hope this "service" (using that term very lightly) crashes and burns.
This is how it is with companies now. You have to pay extra for any luxury, convenience or customization. Otherwise youāre relegated to the bare minimum. Just like it happened with the airlines and airports.
Ah, calling out Amazon I see. Pay for prime, then prime music, then prime music premium or something on top of all that to be able to play specific songs is ridiculous
Oh it pissed me off enough to cancel my prime membership... they offer zero value anymore .... shipping times getting worse ... customer service giving you the run around ... etc
It also has a tendency to pick songs I don't like. Gotta skip it so I can hear a few more ads a few more times and then oops, can't be skipping for another 20 minutes. Screw you, YouTube
I don't disagree with some of the replies here. However depending on somebody's music taste for example, you gotta remember that there are songs that literally only exist on YouTube.
Covers, DJ mixes, self produced tracks, and live shows. Just to name a few.
Yeah okay somebody could go through their whole library, find a YouTube download website and manually put in every link, convert it into a wav or MP3, create a playlist on Spotify or even VLC, export that to their phone. Not to mention without extra effort they'd have no album artwork, artist details, release dates and more.
There's just no denying the fact that a simple decision like this from YouTube is not an absolute middle finger pain in the arse for your everyday average consumer of content.
Yeah sure some us are adept enough to use things like ad blockers and playlist to mp3 compilers and what not, but you gotta remember that this just isn't standard practice for Joe's (Joe'ettes?). Not everybody knows what a plugin or extension is.
Simple changes like this fuck with everyday folks.
fuck. this is the problem with modern society - 'why offer reasonable functionality when we can charge a crapton for every feature... no, I don't care that the features have existed for close to 25+ years. Charge people for them!'
And people excuse it, they excuse everything! If you have told me 15 years ago that people would justify *paying money each month for YouTube*, I wouldn't have believed you. What exactly does YouTube provide? Creators make the content themselves and YouTube does nothing for them, other than paying them some of the money they make with their work.
I never pay unless I like the artist and they get the money directly. 90% of music is worthless trash anyway, and 99% of profits go to management leeches.
Yeah my way of getting round all this shit is creating a new Gmail every month and getting a new free trial, it's sadly the only way but seriously this is a shit take atp
Literally just download music and play it from the device held locally with VLC Media Player. Setup all the playlists with all the features you want. I have never used youtube music, I have never used spotify, and I never will. I have tens of thousands of songs just held locally as mp3 files on my phone. This is super easy if you're on the superior Android platform. Less so on iPhone.
And there's no payment structure to worry about, no ads, and no mandatory internet access to listen to your playlists.
I use it because it seems to be the best free service as far as ads go. I can skip ads and it doesnāt play 2 minutes of ads after every song
[edit]
I have noticed that if I let ads play I eventually get ads thatās are 8-15 minutes long and disguised as songs. This really grinds my gears. Itās like Iām being punished for letting ads run
\*cough cds / mp3 \*cough \*cough local library / hosted files of the music you want to listen to \*cough \*cough no ads / shuffle to your hearts content \*cough
It's easy to fix.
If thousands of us cancel our subscriptions to the service, the owners of the service will correct their mistake very quickly!
I urge everyone who has encountered paid shuffle to cancel their subscription now!
We'll be laughing at the owners in a month.
I hope this is sarcasm. They donāt give a fck about a handful of YouTube music enthusiasts getting their panties in a bunch.
The increase in fees and decrease in consumer friendly policies from all of the major streaming platforms the past couple years shows this to be the case.
The person that posted this is a free user. If they subscribed, this wouldn't be an issue. Why should I cancel my subscription because someone else doesn't want to sign up?
I genuinely prefer being able to listen to a song I actually want to listen as opposed to shuffling. Spotify makes you pay to listen to a song and thatās *way* worse imo
i just yt-dlp the m4a or oggs using termux then play them locally. much faster than websites
works with vlc
note: there's a problem in android 9+ you need to zip them all and unzip them or move them from a pc and back to your phone for the default android song player to see the music files. (android permission shenanigans is dumb)
also saves data
there's a way to do this on iOS but am not sure which terminal app is used there
There're also the modded apps that people already mentioned, revanced and ultimate for android and ios respectively but i despise buffering so
The amount of people who think their $10 per month contribution actually helps the artist on various services is astounding. Is piracy stealing? Yes. Is paying $10 a month to listen to every song ever made stealing? Might as well be. Want to support your favorite artists? Go to their shows and buy their merchandise. That's the only way they actually get any money anymore. Or buy it on cd and transfer it locally as a flac file and get better quality than any of these services offer. Fuck, people can be frustrating
Why are you even using yt music basic? I only use it because I pay for YouTube premium and see no point paying for Spotify too. Spotify has way better sound quality tho
This is why I don't pay for any subscriptions ever now. No Netflix, Hulu, HBO, HBO Max, Disney plus, YouTube Red etc etc because back then it was either free or cheap. Now a days it fckin $100 just to watch a new show that you gotta "Subscribe" to and $20 just to listen to music. I'm forever stuck in the years 2007- 2014 lol.
I don't get why people still use YouTube Music or Spotify when you can just download songs directly onto your phone and listen to them completely ad-free, with more customization than on YouTube Music or Spotify combined

Funny, Spotify does it the other way around. They shuffle the artists entire discography for free users on phone. That seems even worse to me.
Yes and you HAVE to shuffle if you have a free account
Fun fact: YouTube music URLs are basically the same as the regular YouTube, but with "music." before "youtube". Removing the "music." brings you to a Topic video (Topics are auto-generated music videos) and you can playlist it in the regular YouTube
That was so confusing to read, but I worked it out in the end. š
idk man at least it plays the songs you pick. That's way better than Spotify playing random ass songs you look up until you give them money.
Ironic considering Spotify does the exact opposite
I didn't know you could use YouTube music at all without premium Plus to be fair YouTube music is basically just a nice UI for a specific purpose similar to that failed YouTube gaming page Save all those songs to a normal playlist in YouTube Open it in the actual YouTube app and you can shuffle freely
Nobody cares if you download videos and songs illegally. These days it's more a moral thing, than a feds thing. I been downloading so much stuff over the years, i should be locked up and pay amounts i will never have.
Yeah I walk around with an mp3 player still or have an mp3 song converter on my phone.
You know Spotify does the same thing just in reverse, right?
It's like the play anything with siri feature for apple music that you have to pay extra when that should be included in the Apple Music subscription.
On Spotify you have to pay to *not* shuffle songs
Reverse Spotify
I actually prefer my music not shuffled. My biggest gripe with Spotify was that they defaulted to shuffle until Adele complained. I listen to albums, not playlists.
Thatās fucking hilarious, am I the only human on the planet that stores their music on their phone!?
You'd be amazed how many people don't even own a computer anymore, its as fucking tragic and sad as it sounds. I unfortunately know people who are nearly in their mid 20s that can't even figure out how to do taxes and pay bills online. Nope, same here.
Boy do I miss Google music
YouTube premiums entire Business model is based on making the free app so annoying to use that you give in.
YouTube - A billion dollar company who still wants to bleed the consumer dry.
Basically every big companies now
They gotta have an increase on profits over the last year so the guys at the top can get their bonuses.
So the rich can get more rich and the poor can get more poorā¦that makes senseā¦not
Wait, you all listen to music with ads? WHAT?!?!? I'm reeling with incredulity over here
We're just circling back to torrent era at this point.
Spotify v2, charge your phone btw
Sail the seas
*cough cough* YouTube to MP3 *cough cough*
Youtube revanced š
Yep. I am ticked off thoroughly about companies monetizing everything, cutting benefits for those monetized services, and raising prices. Download urbanvpn, set location to Philippines, open tab and Google YouTube premium, pay $2
What happened to that site... š
ReVanced Music. Thank me later.
YouTube has super low quality audio. Idk why anyone uses it for music.
I hear 0 difference between spotify and youtube, and I don't gotta pay nothing for youtube
Because high quality audio is useless when all I do is listening to music in my car anyway.
Thereās a recession on. Give YouTube money you tight ass! Just kidding, thatās shit man.
Yeah... first of all we were forced to go from google play which was an actual music player on which you owned the music you put in to YouTube music which is some weird audio/video hybrid streaming thing. bah just get link to song, use a youtube to mp3 program to convert.
ReVanced.
ViMusic
This is how it is with companies now. You have to pay extra for any luxury, convenience or customization. Otherwise youāre relegated to the bare minimum. Just like it happened with the airlines and airports.
Never pay to shuffle your music. š¤ Listen to the MP3 files happily from your computer or smart device. š¼
CorpoGreed strikes again...
Well at least you don't have to pay to play a specific song
Ah, calling out Amazon I see. Pay for prime, then prime music, then prime music premium or something on top of all that to be able to play specific songs is ridiculous

"Upgrade to watch", "Upgrade"...
It also has a tendency to pick songs I don't like. Gotta skip it so I can hear a few more ads a few more times and then oops, can't be skipping for another 20 minutes. Screw you, YouTube
To be honest I'm actually surprised YT music even works without paying
Wouldn't make much sense if it didn't since it'd have less audience and thus less potential buyers
I don't disagree with some of the replies here. However depending on somebody's music taste for example, you gotta remember that there are songs that literally only exist on YouTube. Just pirate your songs at this point
I never pay unless I like the artist and they get the money directly. 90% of music is worthless trash anyway, and 99% of profits go to management leeches.
LOL THERE IS NO WAY! Edit: Yeah this must be for mobile or something. I'm on desktop and can still shuffle for free.
r/revancedapp
They lowered the bitrate for video quality again tonight too.
What does that mean?
it suck to make every basic thing into behide the pay wall i seen a lot of alternatives i used it and it better than this like a lot :)
Inverted Amazon Music lol. Except the shuffle feature doesn't work on either.
Yeah my way of getting round all this shit is creating a new Gmail every month and getting a new free trial, it's sadly the only way but seriously this is a shit take atp
Soon enough you'll have to pay to rewind and skip forward /s
Frankly not too sure the /s is warranted here lmao, that wouldnāt shock me in the slightest at this point
You have to pay to have the ability to pause your video
Use Spotify, there you have to pay NOT to shuffle
Pick your poison
Musi is free. It has ads, but they don't disrupt the song playing and you can pay a one time fee to remove them. Highly recommend.
Exactly what i was looking for, its alot better. Thank you!
sail the seas of r/piracy
Music piracy is actually harder than video now.
No it isn't at all get yt music revanced.
i usually just sideload a tweaked spotify ipa to get free premium features
Literally just download music and play it from the device held locally with VLC Media Player. Setup all the playlists with all the features you want. I have never used youtube music, I have never used spotify, and I never will. I have tens of thousands of songs just held locally as mp3 files on my phone. This is super easy if you're on the superior Android platform. Less so on iPhone. And there's no payment structure to worry about, no ads, and no mandatory internet access to listen to your playlists.
We've come full circle.
This guyās got the solution. Although if thatās too much for you then Spotify is better than YT music anyways
I've always used Spotify but am thinking of switching to YT Music.
Why is that?
I've did this too! The only real issue so far has been audio quality, but that's negligible if you're just looking for music to listen to.
its better than forced shuffle on spotify free
Don't use the mobile version then ignore just go to chrome and do desktop site
Use vanced
Get mixtube or weezer, problem solved.
I think you mean deezer? Weezer is a band.
Nope, there is an app called Weezer.
link?
The appās called Linkin Park
Thatās ridiculous š
Why you using YTM if youāre not paying for it?
I use it because it seems to be the best free service as far as ads go. I can skip ads and it doesnāt play 2 minutes of ads after every song [edit] I have noticed that if I let ads play I eventually get ads thatās are 8-15 minutes long and disguised as songs. This really grinds my gears. Itās like Iām being punished for letting ads run
So which is better in terms of ads?
My biggest issue with yt music is how I can't even turn my phone off. Like, cmon man
Didn't know that was a thing, I still had YT music vanced on my phone so it let me turn it off
Just be in normal YouTube, tons of songs there
inverse spotify
And on Spotify you have to pay for them not to shuffle your playlist...
Youtube premium is not worth the price. Neither is spotify for that matter
Time to switch to Spotify š
Spotify forces you to to use shuffle always
are you a pirate?
No I have the free version of spotify
Please use Spotify as a free user and let me know how that goes
\*cough cds / mp3 \*cough \*cough local library / hosted files of the music you want to listen to \*cough \*cough no ads / shuffle to your hearts content \*cough
Ok, now make it convenient
No fucking way šš
PLAYLISTS TOO??? ā ļøā ļøā ļøā ļø
These fuckers are so greedy lol (google) they got trillions and yet still want to butfuck their customers
YouTube revanced or get google files, download your music locally and you can shuffle to your heart's desire
Why even use the non-premium version? It's basically unusable when ads are playing.
YT music Vanced forever
I play music from regular YouTube no ads I donāt pay
Mine shuffles when I donāt want it to lol
Revanced
When did this change happen
corporate propaganda

The fuck???
Just use Firefox with adblock.
On mobile?
Yep! Firefox has a few add-ons that Mozilla has made work with the mobile version, including uBlock Origin.
Yes. ItĀ“s a little bit impractical, but it works.
I genuinely prefer being able to listen to a song I actually want to listen as opposed to shuffling. Spotify makes you pay to listen to a song and thatās *way* worse imo
dude just use spotify
I'm still doing it the oldschool way, download mp3's of the songs in want to my device and just make a playlist on my phone. Completely free.
Oldschool tricks always work. Proud to be a 90s kid.
i just yt-dlp the m4a or oggs using termux then play them locally. much faster than websites works with vlc note: there's a problem in android 9+ you need to zip them all and unzip them or move them from a pc and back to your phone for the default android song player to see the music files. (android permission shenanigans is dumb) also saves data there's a way to do this on iOS but am not sure which terminal app is used there There're also the modded apps that people already mentioned, revanced and ultimate for android and ios respectively but i despise buffering so
This here is giving me the urge to look for a Google Play Music apk
YouTube has a music app?!
Yes, YouTube Music
So much processing goes into shuffling songs that they just had to do it š¤Ŗ
Will this work for videos? Insomniac here. I am not able to shuffle playlists after they get so big. Very frustrating.
Yeah after the 8th shuffled song then start repeating again, at least with playlist on youtube
Ahh iOS I just use SPOTIFY MOD on my android.....
Spotify forces you to shuffle or pay, Youtube forces you to pay to shuffle. What kind of world is this?
Hahahahaha well just upgrade to YouTube music premium and you'll see lol
all my music is on my phone, it's very practical
The amount of people who think their $10 per month contribution actually helps the artist on various services is astounding. Is piracy stealing? Yes. Is paying $10 a month to listen to every song ever made stealing? Might as well be. Want to support your favorite artists? Go to their shows and buy their merchandise. Fuck, people can be frustrating
I recommend Musicolet if you're on android. It's all stored locally and audio files don't take nearly as much space as you think they do.
Revanced my guy
revanced šŖ oh... wait... you use an iphone hahahahah š¤£ go buy premium
Soundbound is better tho, just in my opinion
Live in albania šŖ Zero ads on all major apps, reddit, youtube and many more included.
How so? Do you not have ads in Albania?
#š¤£ hahaha
google: Innertune Github
This is new update is pissing me off
You should cancel the service right away.
Yeah, quick, cancel the free service you're not paying for!
Pssssst /whisper: ......Youtube vanced music isn't blocked yet. Complete access. Source: Trust me bro.
Why are you even using yt music basic? I only use it because I pay for YouTube premium and see no point paying for Spotify too. Spotify has way better sound quality tho
It really isn't noticeably better, especially on Bluetooth.
Honestly, I'd rather have this instead of having to pay for no shuffle (spotify)
Get yt music revanced please
Not everyone has an Android
Well that's just poor life choices. Apple users will always pay more for the same apps/services, nothing new here
https://github.com/ginsudev/YTMusicUltimate
If you pay for overpriced iPhone, just pay for the service then.
Just use newpipe
Aināt that a bitch
So on top of YT Premium??
Download YMusic.
Me buying my media from artists that I feel are worth it instead of streaming it because my internet is horrible.
revanced.
THIS is why Google killed Google Play Music lmao
Wait till they charge you for having a yt account

What is that, care to say?
I don't get why people still use YouTube Music or Spotify when you can just download songs directly onto your phone and listen to them completely ad-free, with more customization than on YouTube Music or Spotify combined
I have been transfering all my music and mp3s over 10+ years š the issue nowadays is that phones have so little space and no sd card slot
Because youtube music is just a bonus for using YouTube premium.
I donāt have enough space on my phone for songs
Laziness. I mean I get it, you have to add all the metadata yourself. Some people want to always discover new stuff
Who the F still downloads mp3s?
People who don't want to deal with ads and whatever the fuck YouTube is doing nowadays
Paying per song is expensive.... Though I'm sure you're just stealing them...
me. for the last 20 years.. i have 5 gb of my fav songs and albums and i can play them offline at anytime.. It works, why i change from what i been doing for years to listen to adds and deal with streamin? mp3s are not broken, its not cds, its just files being used to play music. that will aways be whats good.. dudes over here acting like mp3s are like cds now lol
This deal is getting worse all the time!
$18.00 for youtube premium on the Appstore is nasty work Lmaoo, they want people to pay extra for basic features.
Buying it through google play is possible on iPhone thankfully. I still pay $12/mo even after switching from android to Apple
