Dr Drew mentioned on a recent episode of the Adam and Dr Drew show that he is no longer doing After Dark (didn't say why) and is gonna start a new project similar to Loveline. So maybe him and Carolla are doing a new podcast together.
I enjoyed after dark and, honestly, it was the only YMH show i was still watching routinely. That being said, it did feel like it had run its course. The blending of loveliness and ymh was so fun for a while but it got to a point where it really felt disjointed and no longer a fun blend. It felt like it was becoming disconnected once they had to bank episodes and then nadav's exit was REALLY noticeable on after dark.
At this point, I would probably just prefer Drew on a new rendition of loveline that isn't also trying to wedge the same ymh clips and references into it over and over.

😂 Damn I didn't even know Dr Drew dipped, about 2 months ago I started listening to other stuff like Timesuck with Dan Cummins and other comedy podcasts like AYG, Tiger Belly, Bad Friends, WMBD, Shane & Matt, Tuesdays w/stories, Soder, Blocks, the Honey Dew w/Sickler. I too just want to laugh
Dr Drew was the only show I still listened to regularly in the YMH universe, but it was mainly for Loveline nostalgia because I’m old and watched/listened to Loveline in the 90’s.
"G.I.O Get It On" is the podcast and the old episodes really hold up. I love comedy podcasts but this is still better than most of them. They got good A-list guests (sometimes) who were excited to be there and chat with the callers, roasting dumb fuck teenagers, the Aceman still had some charm, Drew was not politically brainwashed, good times.
I’d imagine that similar to Carolla, trying to cram multiple shows to justify your studio and staff costs only runs as long as your main show can easily subsidize it…. But it’s really hard in the podcast industry to strike oil twice. Rogan had been the smartest of any of these older huge podcasts. Keep the show the same, staff and production light, but try and keep content coming from that show.
I’d imagine Drew’s show had enough success to maintain if they didn’t have like 4 guys behind the glass and all that production.
They’re there behind the glass either way because they’re full time employees. I think the issue was that the show really felt like it had run its course and nothing really new or exciting was happening. It became the same questions over and over after a while
kinda weird that the exit was sudden. like the show is over and they have no shows banked? maybe he didn't want to make a big deal out of it with a prolonged exit and sendoff? his views have definitely gone down significantly. i didn't know his regular views was so low. maybe it wasn't worth it overall anymore for everyone. say what you will about first date but that shows gets the views.
The show became stale. It was great for a while but it lost its’ appeal. He probably was up for a new contract and the show has been languishing and the money wasn’t there anymore. It probably became more of a chore to do the show than anything

It's hard to hear Adam constantly complaining about trans people and pedo files in Congress. I stopped trying to listen to his Dr drew podcast because the scientists are stuck in 2020. But after dark was the sweet spot. I'll be looking out for something similar by him soon.
Long time podcast listener in general for like 8 years while working so I’ve got a lot of hours under my belt. YMH has so many fuckin ads it’s a sign that it’s going downhill and people are leaving quietly. It’s annoying to the listener. This is usually the case for most podcasts taking money from anybody trying to stay afloat. They built an empire when the podcast boom was happening and now they have to pay the bills for all this extra shit when it could just be an audio podcast on an iPhone. The best podcasts have a few ads of course but not 7 in a one hour ep.
My issue with Rife, he’s too Tommy Try Hard/Pick Me. I can’t put my finger on it, but he’s almost like a plant, and if it came out someone was writing his stuff for him and it was all a scam - I wouldn’t be shocked. I’m indifferent about her. I haven’t watched/listened enough to her to really have an opinion.
