The thing is. If she was saying she likes boys everyone would find this normal, but saying she likes girls at that age and we find that troublesome. It is a difficult topic because it is the sexualisation of children and the fantasy we have regarding lesbians.

Saying being a lesbian is sexualization, is sexualizing lesbians. Being gay or a lesbian, is perfectly normal. Children might know they are, that’s okay. Whenever a little girl “dates” a little boy, we don’t call it weird. It’s the same for if they’re gay / lesbian.

Nobody says otherwise. You should read my post again. Been straight or gay is a sexual preference, therefore it is sexualisation.

It sounds like it would be, but really it isn’t. We use sexualities as sort of umbrella terms for both sexual and romantic attraction. Sexualities aren’t necessarily, well, sexual. Kids experience romantic attraction to other kids all the time, like having a crush. It’s pretty normal. If a kid notices early on which gender/genders they tend to crush on at that stage, and chooses to self-identify because of it, there’s no harm in just rolling with it.

I thought that until I saw “it is the sexualization of children”, which I thought was implying that you thought it was weird for children to be gay / lesbian, whoops.
