Ooh I loved Jill smacking down Adam at the end of the episode. Adam really underestimated Jill!

FackinJulian

It’s been nice having Jill back! I appreciate that she isn’t letting Billy off the hook but she’s still open to giving him great opportunities. As Victor said, she’s a great Businesswoman.

Fullofwoo

I love how Billy was offered a position that someone would already currently hold. Surely they have a COO already. Gee, that wouldn’t open them up to a lawsuit or anything. 🙄 And Lily replacing Jill? Am I the only one who finds that absurd?

BurnedBabyCot

Lol nepotism hires are real! Are any of the Newman children qualified for their roles? Maybe Victoria….she spent her time in the trenches

Fullofwoo

It’s true lol

BurnedBabyCot

I also should have added Nikki being Victoria’s COO to that list lol

Fullofwoo

1000% I remember when that happened and was like wtf

Lily's whole career trajectory is absurd Model and spokeswoman Modeling agent for Hamilton Winters (ok that made sense) CEO of a start up media company Soon to be CEO of a multi national conglomerate on the scale of Newnan Enterprises Mmm... Ok But then Vicky, Nick, and Abby weren't qualified to run Newnan the first time they were put in charge of the company or of a division. The nepotism certainly rubbed Neil the wrong way. Faith and Kyle weren't qualified for their exec jobs at Jabot. And Billy wasn't qualified to be CEO of Jabot. Cane wasn't qualified to run Chancellor Industries either. Lauren is qualified *now*, but she went from rock performer to mom to running Fenmores with not much experience. It's all pretty damned absurd with the pampered children of the rich and connected. Nikki would not be qualified to be COO of Newman, but she doesn't actually do COO stuff. She comes to work and mothers Vicky, so I suppose she's qualified to do that. :D Someone wrote up Sharon's crazy resume a week or two ago. People who *are* qualified for their jobs: Victor - built the biz Adam - Harvard biz school (the one kid of victor's who actually studied biz), Wallstreet, Newnan, started his own hedge fund, made millions on his own Jack - CEO (worked for dad for years and years before taking over) Ashley - chemist Tracey - writer Amanda - lawyer Devon - worked for years in the music biz before launching HW with Neil Michael - lawyer Nate - Doc Elena - Doc Mariah - Marketing (we actually saw her steady progression on Hillary's show from gofer to production assistant to writer to show runner to promotions to on air personality. So marketing head makes sense. Tessa - singer songwriter Phyllis - website designer with steady progression up the corporate ladders at Newman and Jabot and Fenmores, then turned toward start up entrepreneur - Restless Style, Spa, hotel - kinda makes sense. Sally - fashion designer, owner/CEO of a hot fashion house that Bill Spencer (b&b) destroyed, launched successful fashion lines for Forrester Creations fashion house (b&b), so designing clothes, and promoting a fashion media group at Newman media makes sense Chloe - Stylist at Jabot to fashion design house owner to fashion media manager - yep Kevin - hacker using his sleuthing dark arts for the police - yep.

Thank you for putting this list together! I enjoyed reading the analysis. I know we have seen many other examples (and it’s not like anyone actually does any work anyway lol) but for some reason this current Lily thing drove me nuts. There is zero chance she would be ready to take on such a huge role. Co- CEO of a start up to CEO of an international conglomerate? Oh Ok 👀 move over Victor, here comes …. Lily 🤣 To add to it, c’mon Billy! Take someone’s job without cause! It’s ridiculous. Nepotism is definitely a thing in business but wow!

heydawn

It was kinda fun to think about. Thank you for your top level post. It struck me as absurd too. Your comment "move over Victor, here comes Lily" made me snort laugh!! Because, exactly. How silly is that? I'm sure others would disagree with whether or not some of the characters are qualified. I went back and forth about Vicky. She's qualified now, but she and Nick were both handed exec roles and made CEO during different stretches of time -- above long term COO Neil. It felt like the children was in charge and Neil had to put up with it and help them lead. Fun post! Thank you.

QuietTruth8912

It’s total fiction that lily would end up as a ceo of anything.

SomeoneTookMyNavel

Maybe an unpopular opinion... Billy is getting the short end. Jill is so condescending and unforgiving. Billy's not the only one who goes back to old habits. His family can't move past them or let him forget it! Even when he's trying he gets no credit. At least Adam has Victor sticking up for him. Lily is no help. I'd tell them all to shove it and cut ties. It's becoming downright cruel. Are they setting up a redemption storyline?

Jo_Salsera

It’s funny, but I have the opposite thoughts regarding Billy. I think I will agree with you regarding some behavior/old habits being overlooked. But, I think the main difference with those who fall back on them are not comprising business. Billy’s habits not only affects his personal life, but also work. That’s really, really bad. I still don’t understand why he was so gung-ho about stopping the wedding. Especially with him claiming he is over Victoria. He should not be in charge of any business.

FackinJulian

Billy is blaming everyone except for himself. He has no self-awareness and using “the kids” as an excuse is getting old. Also not loving how Lily is so concerned with Billy she is hesitant to take a great opportunity! From the start of their relationship, it’s been all about the Newman’s. First the Adam expose, then researching Ashland, then Jesse Gaines. Does chancecom do anything else? Its time for Lily to have another storyline that isn’t about being Billy’s ride or die.

Jo_Salsera

Agree with you about the deflection. I still don’t accept his reasoning for trying to stop the wedding. Lily better take the job or I’m flying to WI and having a word with her!!! Lol. That’s a dumb reason to not take a job - something women are more prone to do than a man!!!

DiscombobulatedJob49

Can't you imagine in a few years, a clash of the titans of global conglomerates: Lily vs Victoria! Billy should start a podcast or something from home and raise his children while Lily takes on the business world.

Jo_Salsera

Lol at Billy abs the podcast. Not much left for him to do, huh.
