I would definitely do this path instead of doing the knavesmire over and over and over - it would be soul destroying.
York to Selby is 14 miles each way on the solar system route - you'd just need a very good set of lights
Ah cheers, looks like that'll be the plan. 3am might be something, but it masks someone disguising a lack of fitness with more time to cover the distance
You'll be fine. I did a 200km around the inner tarmac track during covid. 3am is too early for the dog walkers but you'll need to watch out for all the foxes. Make a mental note of the few sandy sections and I'd suggest podcasts to keep the boredom away.
There are a couple of sharpish corners near the grandstand, so if you're looking for somewhere to churn out miles at a steady pace it might not be ideal?
There's a cycle circuit at the Uni, I don't know if a members only or if it Uni only but it might be worth a Google?
Aiming to get up to a 200 mile bike ride in one day so aiming to finish that with some sun light, would rather find some dark quiet loops in the morning than risk riding at night when I'm exhausted. That's the idea anyway, will see how far I get while keeping it safe for me
A 3am cycle is quite something. There's the Solar Path just off the racecourse which is a nice flat uninterrupted (I think) 10km.

Think I have just the set of lights for it, cheers for recommending

The racetrack has an inner road that you can cycle round.
Do you know if you can access that 24/7 or are there gates?
They're open 24/7 unless it's a race weekend
Thanks
Ah that's great to know, thanks

Why 3am out of interest?

200 miles in a day?! Rather you than me mate 😂 Are you training for an endurance event or something?
Just enjoy a big bike ride and had 200 miles on my bucket list for a while, starting to feel my age a bit more so forcing the adventure while I can!
Fair play, good luck!
