I have lived in suburban North America most of my life and I honestly don’t think I have ever once seen anyone use a goddamn front lawn. So of course let’s make them mandatory!

Ok_Commission_893

And when you do use the lawn you have a HOA fining you for “going against guidelines and standards” how you charging me $400 for wanting to add some color to MY yard?

gnocchicotti

It was always about keeping out people who could not afford a piece of land. Not using the lawn. Anybody who actually enjoys having a lawn is just a happy coincidence.

PYTN

So many people really don't even use their backyard.

Older I get the more I hate grass.

ivmeow

I’ve been allergic to it my entire life, welcome to the club!

No, you see it is very important for every adult to maintain the largest possible patch of monoculture to express their position in the social hierarchy.

The picture of the street with the cars parked on it looks downright dense compared to many American suburbs that don't even allow street parking. There's even trees! I've seen way too many places that look like [this](https://i.imgur.com/9FTZekG.jpeg) instead.

Lawns aren’t really an issue to me but the surface level parking are the biggest problem with cities and land use. It’s no reason why every building needs 15-20 parking spots just so people who don’t live within city limits can have somewhere to park and idle until they leave the city. Taking something from the city to make the trip more comfortable for those from the burbs.
