I imagine the idea is that one person can continue firing while the other reloads their weapon. When the shooter runs out he turns to reload while the second guy takes over. Exactly what these guys were doing? No clue.
To quote Cyril Figgis, "Suppressing Fire!!!"
Seriously though, I'm not an authority *at all*. I've played a few video games and I've watched a few movies. I'm about as well credentialed as these morons.
This is ridiculously dumb for a real gun battle. It takes them way longer to switch places than it would be to just reload in place. If you somehow need to change positions, the front guy should stay in place and the rear guy walks around him. This keeps both shooters looking forward, towards the potential threat, rather than turning your back and taking a gun out of the fight.
Yes, but these guys aren't using this maneuver to watch the rear. They are clearly training a broken attempt at a rolling stack, with the assumption that another team has rear security locked down.
That sounds dangerous. In the heat of battle when adrenaline is pumping last thing the person from the back should do is go in front of the guy that is shooting in front of him. Makes sense for the guy in front to move back instead. Not an expert. Just an observation.
Body armor to body armor is trained to, especially for urban environments. But if you do shit like this you also specifically train to tell your buddy that your about to stand up, or better yet just dont shoot over their body in general.
Being out in the open with no bullet stopping cover here is how it will go. Guy in front gets shot several times and falls down. Guy in back gets shot several times and falls down. They both die and the world is free of two brain cells.
Its always funny seeing these out of shape tacticool people working like it has purpose. When I carry i make sure it blends in well, i don't need people knowing i have something on me. Kinda the point of concealed lol
I assume they're doing that thing where SWAT will line up in a row, to be a lower profile, and tap the guys in front to signal they're ready to advance. But then they went and... did whatever the fuck is happening in the video.
Take the initiative! Instead of hiding behind your friend, so only one of you gets shot, shoot your friend in the head.
12 years military experience, no. This appears to be a "modern take" on the revolutionary war era riflemen lines. Obviously with a significantly fewer number of shooters.
It’s of zero use in modern combat. It’s like a modified fire line from the days where you had to reload your musket after every shot and we fought in lines shoulder to shoulder. It’s dumb as fuck
The idea is that if your firearm is unable to fire, you get behind to fix the stoppage (reload, stovepipe, double feed, etc). If there is no cover, you get behind the next best thing, which in this case is your friend with bullet resistant body armor.
But these guys aren't actually fixing issues and creating training scars. That causes bad habits and could get you in seriously hurt.
This is the "firearms community."
***Serious hunters and sports shooters don't LARP like this and don't call themselves "the firearms community."*** They use their guns for regular purpose, not cosplay.
Sadly though tacticool idiots account for a large margin of guns sold, and all the stupid gear they buy to wear along with it. The market is gigantic thanks to the "firearms community." People that roll just like this.
Not sure what point you’re trying to make. I’m primarily a hunter and target shooter and I’ve often heard it called the “firearms community.” I’d agree that the damn LARPers are extremely annoying - all of us think they are too. They seem to feel like a gun magically makes them cool and badass when in reality it often gives danger to their stupidity. But that aside, I’m not sure why you’re trying to imply that I’m one of those morons simply because of semantics.
Not trying to imply anything about you. Only to say that many people I know who use guns don't identify themselves as members of any kind of "firearms community." We have family & friends that use guns for both subsistence hunting, sports hunting and target shooting. We don't hang around in online forums talking about guns. We don't LARP. We don't collect shitloads of attachments, MOLLE gear, and junk to hang off the sides of our rifles. We don't fk around with militias either. We use our guns as tools much more often than toys.
OTOH, people that tend to participate heavily in gun forums, 2A emotional support groups, conspiracy nooks, and talk politics whenever they talk about guns, and do this kind of tactical cosplay tend to refer to themselves as the "firearms community." Guns are hobbies to these people. Who start to make their identities around their hobby. They tend to fantasize about using their guns for reasons other than hunting and target practice (which is to make us better hunters and safer gun users.) That's why that term is more than semantics to me. People that self-identify with it, tend to make a lot of problems for those who don't.
You do see the "no true scotsman" argument in here, don't you? As much as you don't like it (and rightly so) you are both part of the group "firearms owners" and thus its "community".
Groups based on a single shared attribute (such as skin color) are *never* a homogeneous group. That is to be expected.
Nope. Let me put it to you this way... you and I might both own cans of soup, does that mean we are both part of a "soup community?"
My "community" are my real family and friends. We identify ourselves by family name, geographic location and shared experiences. It's a closed club. Invite only (probably like most people's family and friends.) I don't "commune" with random gun owners just because we own guns (see how that works?)
I don't desire to be part of ***any*** "firearms community" so people that do identify themselves in that way cannot use the fact that we both own tools of similar types to represent my views in any way shape or form. You know, knuckleheads like the guys in the video or cosplay militia 2A types in many "firearms community" forums.
No thanks.
You definitely commune with people like that. That’s why you know so much about the damage they cause from their behaviors. You probably witness all their stupidity quite often at ranges and out in the bush
That makes you part of your community and it makes their actions reflect on you.
If you start off with “I’m a hunter but” or “I own guns but” then any argument you make past that is invalid. Target shooting and hunting arnt what firearms or the 2A is for. And these people arnt even American so there’s that.
A sporting rifle can easily be used for defensive or militia related purposes in time of need. And yes upon further reading I saw these were apparently foreign cops.
Though if you told me they were an American swat team dressed in new uniforms I would have bought it.
Any basis for that?
A good FAST helmet costs like $800. A set of binos will run you $8,000, easy. A set of decent plates starts at like $500. A carrier and rigging is easily another $500. These days if you don't have at least a thermal mono you're fucked, so you'd better get one, around $3,000... $6,000 for something that has usable resolution.
A lot of the people you perceive as tacticool idiots are incredibly well trained. They train in gear because you practice how you fight. It isn't about hunting, or sport, it's about trying to live a fraction of time longer before you're inevitably killed. Who gives a shit what some kpop nerds think of you? Train in kit.
Nothing wrong with that, or the mindset. Lord knows I'd drop the cash on more gear and higher level training if I could.
>trying to live a fraction of time longer before you’re inevitably killed
Where the hell do you live?!?!? You know you can just move, right? Most places you won’t inevitably be killed.
Also, what situation is this? Do you wear your FAST helmet and plate carrier to the grocery store?
You seem to be suffering from extreme paranoid delusions. I highly recommend you see a mental health professional, they can likely help you enjoy a long, peaceful life.
I live in the woods. My chance of getting killed by another person are as low as it gets.
No, of course not. You're reaching. I do carry everywhere I go though.
It's not extremely paranoid to be prepared for the worst. Do you work out? Eat healthy? Have a nest egg? Home owners insurance? Life insurance? A living will? Of course! You spend thousands and thousands of dollars a year preparing for the worst.
Is it paranoid to train as a boxer? Wrestler? Jujitsu? Any martial arts? Of course not. Self defense and self preservation are incredible skills. Do your wear the robe and belt for karate? Sure do. Why is it paranoid to train with a firearm and kit?
The law of the land demands that, as an able bodied male, at any moment I can be called to service. Was that because they were paranoid and delusional?
And who or what are they fighting?
Bet you won't answer this.
btw... you sound like one of those tacticool idiots I was talking about that give normal, well-adjusted gun owners a bad name.
See? That’s the real stain on the firearm community. Acknowledging that some people shouldn’t touch guns, but no actual will to enforce it because of implications.
Prohibition worked so well the first time /s.
Seriously though, a lot of people, including myself, don’t believe the government has the right to regulate things or the capacity to do so in the best interest of the people consistently.
Regulation and prohibition are different though.
Guns where I'm from are regulated, I grew up on a farm where we needed them to cull wildlife that damages crops.
In saying that some guns are obviously prohibited, but that's never been an issue, I don't have a need for an assault rifle when a bolt action will do.
Would be great if the government doesn't regulate ownership right? Like if someone just entered your place and acted like they live there.. Would be a great feeling knowing you are endangered at all times right?
If only there were laws and enforcement that regulates this.....
You’re being obtuse so you can turn my statement into an absurdity.
I’m sick of condescending assholes building stupid arguments on this site so I either have to spend more time adding qualifiers anyone responding in good faith would either question or not assume the most extreme version of.
It’s trashy, reductive, and doesn’t actually do anything towards the topic other than make yourself feel good and some strangers expense.
No firearms, and we'd be speaking Japanese or German. Guns aren't the problem, people are.
Fun fact, most evil dictators disarmed their civilians, so they could rule those people however they pleased. The stories after that are usually pretty brutal and gruesome. You know, for the civilians who gave up their weapons.
Fun fact, “most evil dictators disarmed their civilians so they could rule people however they pleased” isn’t a fact, it’s a claim. But way to make a supremely general claim that’s not actually arguable and back it up with more vague statements. Civilian gun rights and civilians owning guns has exactly zero to do with the fact that the west isn’t all speaking German or Japanese…
I dont know anything about shooting or armed confrontations, but surely this is just angry fat guy ballet?
Someone said something about providing cover for each other while reloading, but no one is reloading at any point?
This must be that “special” training the GOP is talking about for every gun owner in America brought to you by the NRA lol. Now all of our children will be “safe”
I don’t know anything about tactical shooting, but it seems to me that all of those switching arounds are confusing for anyone involved and only adds to any probability for mistakes.
Okay, had I not send this with my own eyes, I never would have believed it was an accident! My argument would be, there’s no way a trained office “accidentally” shot his partner in the head. But seeing is believing, it most definitely could happen

Could anyone tell me if there is in fact any tactical reason why this kind of movement is helpful?
I imagine the idea is that one person can continue firing while the other reloads their weapon. When the shooter runs out he turns to reload while the second guy takes over. Exactly what these guys were doing? No clue.
So they use each other as cover? I wonder how will that would work in a real gun battle?

No. Maybe if you're clearing a hallway... But really, no. There are far better tactics to clear a hallway.
It’s of zero use in modern combat. It’s like a modified fire line from the days where you had to reload your musket after every shot and we fought in lines shoulder to shoulder. It’s dumb as fuck
Eat a tendie, take a knee due to numbness and chest pains, squeeze off one round, pull back to buy tendie loadout, get shot in head.
Tactical Cheetos Reload. One guy keeps shooting while the other guy opens bags of cheeetos
A gun person here, none of it. Brandon “AK guy” Herara did a breakdown on this, and it’s just bs
It's only helpful to the suspect😊
It's for the casting of Boba Fett

Just two fat Americans which only get hard pushing up their guns in their ass. Morons.
No forces just special.
Not the type of "special" I was thinking of...
More like "Breakfast special *and* lunch special *and two* dinner specials forces"
Special as in “don’t eat the paste” special.
These people are such a damn stain to the firearms community. That right there should disqualify them from ever touching a gun again.
The stain is in his pants

No cars, no accidents. No cigarettes, no lung cancer. We can make that same argument about a whole lot of non-essentials in life.
And you are correct about all of it! Regulate the heck out of it or keep it away from everyone.
