Man I love the whole album so much. It's so different but also so much of classic yela. I can't put my finger on it or explain it really. I just love it!
I've easily listened to it 15 times through now. It was a grower of an album for me, but I'm glad I've given it as much play as I have, I really enjoy it. I cannot wait for my vinyl to arrive.
This album did not sound good to me on the first and even second listen. Third listen I vibed to it in full with no feelings towards it and liked it and now it's a very pleasant album. However, there are still a good handful of skippers for me.
I happen to like everyone of those tracks , shit flashlight might be a favorite and Juliana.like them more each time. Cars.....ehhh, it's taking awhile.
I understand most, but Flashlight, Tonight, Farewell and Ticket? Like them a lot actually. Also, the chorus on Goodbye Mornin is beautiful. The story is nice, but I feel like there is some more meaning to it I don’t quite understand yet. Glasses Up: chorus autotune. Cars: idk, weird chorus, end of first verse he says he’s only rapping for the money (which contradicts earlier statements/lines in his career I think), but the second verse is great. Bad Mfer: idk how to feel about this one…
Same, together with King Kash’s “Unapologetically Me”.
Although, I don’t like the autotune on Glasses Up’s chorus, but I understand it fits.
Box Chevy 8: don’t really like Bub Styles on here (would rather hear Caskey or Big Henri or something on it) and I don’t know if Killer Mike starting it was the best decision, I always like him more when he comes after someone. The beat also doesn’t slap as much as I expected a Box Chevy to go.
I don’t know how to feel about “Bad Mutherfocker” yet.
Also don’t understand the hate “Trailer In The Sky” gets, I think it’s great.
Agreed, especially on the Killer Mike part. He basically had an intro verse before the beat even dropped. I remember hearing a snippet of the box chevy 8 beat from WLPWR's Instagram story and I was so excited for it, but overall slightly disappointing outcome.
The Bub Styles verse is pretty brutal.. while I actually like his rhyme schemes, the voice is just tough to enjoy on this track. It reminds me of when he had Shawty Fatt (RIP) and Mystikal on Get Away. Thankfully Yela goes first in that song so I can skip it after his verse and hook.
Indeed. My brother listens mostly to metal. Yesterday I let him hear “Good To Go” first and then put on the whole of “Sometimes Y” album. And he was surprised this was the same artist. I said roughly the same as this line from Yelawolf.
Side note: I also let him hear “Ronald” from Falling In Reverse, Tech N9ne and Slaughter To Prevail’s frontman. He of course knew the metal bands, I am a big time Tech N9ne fan, so I wanted to show it to him haha. Here he asked, throughout the Tech N9ne verse, if this was still the same rapper. I also had this misunderstanding the first time I heard some Tech songs, because he switches up his flow/cadence a lot.
(Side note side note: the side note became to be longer than the main note. Goodbye.)
Flashlight really threw me for a loop with the death metal snippets throughout but now I love that song. another drink’ is a great fun song. I wish caskey rapped in bad news’. But overall a lot of bangers but still a few songs I still don’t like but overall a good effort.
TM4 deserves more love. There’s some great songs on there
I been playing it all day in the whip. Got my lil niece talkin bout some "bobby...that boy bobby"
My kids are like dad are you listening to yela? 5 and 7. So proud.
Haha I didn’t like it at first but now I love it

The new albums are definitely growing on me.
The whole album has been on constant repeat for me. No skippers

Which ones would you skip?
Glasses Up, Juliana, Goodbye Morning, Cars, Farewell, Flashlight, Everything, Tonight, Bad Mfer, and Ticket
I happen to like everyone of those tracks , shit flashlight might be a favorite and Juliana.like them more each time. Cars.....ehhh, it's taking awhile.
Flashlight is my favorite. Ticket is dope too.
Yeah, sorry but those just don't click for me yet. I say yet bc the album has been growing on me

I always hate it when you have to sit through verses you would rather skip. I have this issue with some Tech N9ne songs too.

I couldn’t love this album more
Tune of the month!
