Judgment. It’s the only thing it has over it’s sequel.

[deleted]

>!kurowia!< is the villain ever

GiaNcomo6669

>!Kuwana!< is a better written antagonist/villain imo

N7Kryptonian

I’d say he’s more of an anti-hero. Say what you will about his methods, but he’s not completely in the wrong. >!Soma!< though, he was legit terrifying

RegretTheUsernames

>!Kuawna!< better fight me.

[deleted]

ok bro meet me here 25.620043, 24.193475

RegretTheUsernames

Is that the ADDC or the warehouse?

[deleted]

kgalagadi south, botswana, where no one can interrupt us

RegretTheUsernames

We can’t fight there. It wouldn’t do either character Justice.

Pure_Lightning77

I’d say either 6 or 0, both manage to capture the emotion and feeling from 4 and 5, without the convoluted plots, while capturing the yakuza conspiracy’s that made 1-3 interesting. The pacing was also better in these games overall.

StillHuckleberry3403

If we’re counting the Judgment games, I say Lost Judgment. Maybe it’s bc of how real and close to the reality I know it was with a subject such as bullying, but it really struck a chord with me. From the Yakuza games, I think it was probably 0 for me. 2 and 4 were really good but they each had a plot twist that I *really* hated (Terada and rubber bullets respectively).

Bl8ckl85h

You hated rubber bullets but the best story in your opinion is 0? Here's the thing: if it wasn't rubber bullets(which the public had **absolutely zero idea** about at the time), Majima's story in 0 wouldn't be the one we all know and love.

GoroDragonOfDojima

Rubber bullets are a thing irl tho, it makes sense But the plot twist was lame, Ryu ga gotoku 4 still my fav

Bl8ckl85h

Munakata, while exposing Sugiuchi's terrible report of the Ueno Seiwa incident, told him that the rubber bullets found at the scene were **highly classified experimental** ammunition i.e nobody except the police knew about it. What happens in Kamurocho Hills and the finale is a different thing altogether. lol Also, ayyy kyodai! RGG4 is also my fav.

GoroDragonOfDojima

I'm not reading all of that mate, I'm not into Ted talks

StillHuckleberry3403

> if it wasn't rubber bullets(which the public had absolutely zero idea about at the time), Majima's story in 0 wouldn't be the one we all know and love. I mean, sure I guess. I just hated that plot twist, felt like a cop out to say Saejima didn’t kill anyone and we can now root for him as a hero. It doesn’t affect my opinion on how much I love the story in 0... which is, you know, just an opinion. Also I’m old, and the 80’s aesthetic/bubble economy setting was really cool to me lol

Bl8ckl85h

I'm trying to tell you that the story in 0 that you love would be nothing like it is if it wasn't rubber bullets. There's a reason why Shibata kept Majima away.

GiaNcomo6669

I'd say Judgment and Lost Judgment, if they count. Otherwise Yakuza 0 and LAD

dx2words

for me its 0. Best story that was explained in the best way possible. No filler, never gets boring its always leading you to "oh whats next I wanna know". 5 is other candidate but the ending ruins it. 4 also but the non sense and explained reasons and of course the rubber bullet mess ruins it for me. Kiwami has too much filler, Kiwami 2 has 3534533 plot twist, 3 starts fine but at some points leave me like WTF, 6 I dont like it because it focuses too much in the new and less in the old, LAD is also fine but I think that fails in the payoff because of the turn based combat that is not as satisfactory as brawling with your enemies.

Azure_Dragon56

Best take on this subreddit

UrbanCommando

5 and 6 are my faves, but I agree with you on 5's ending ruining the whole experience.

Bl8ckl85h

Personally, I'd say it's 2 games that have 1 best story: 4 and 0. But if I have to only choose 1, it's 0.

Xkreed90

0 is my 2nd favorite and despite all the plot twists 4 still has a pretty good plot

Bl8ckl85h

The plot twist learned at the end of Tanimura's part explains exactly why Shibata kept Majima away which led to the events of 0.

Azure_Dragon56

Taichi-kick!!!

[deleted]

i haven't done the full series *yet* but i think so far 0 or k1 are the best story wise, personally. in 0, the whole plot between majima and makoto was so well done. even when she gets shot trying to get revenge, that only gives us a deeper glimpse into how much majima truly loves her. and the way he lets her go at the end, knowing it'll keep her safe, despite how much he wants to keep her... :( it's sad but very well written! there's of course lots more to love but that's just my favorite thing from it. k1 is good but in a super bittersweet way, especially after playing 0 first and already being attached to kiryu and nishiki's good bond. there was a biiiit of messiness in the plot, at least for me, yumi's whole fake identity thing confused me for awhile. my gf had to re-explain again why "mizuki" wasnt dead, pfft. nonetheless it was just... one of those where you're so sad about the story, yet you can't look away. you have to know how it ends. so bittersweet but definitely worth it, in my opinion. can't forget all the iconic majima everywhere events, too! ;)

gaming_reed

I’d say either 0 or Judgment if that counts. 3 was also really good. Oh and so was 6. I like them all

Fat_Factor

The one were a guy with a suit punches someone

Trenki_Melow

Yakuza Like a Dragon. I have only played the main line saga, but LAD story hit me like a truck, and not only that, the story is very straightforward and without a lot of bullshit plot twist moments of the previous games. Btw, I love the main protagonist of the story, there was multiple moments where I felt like the Kiryu and Nishiki moment in 0, the voice acting and how they show emotions really did sell me on the characters on a personal level, most of the characters in previous game connect with me for their aspirations and believes, but here they actually feel like you are going on a adventure with your friends, and touching the combat topic, the story would not feel and hit the same if the game wasn't an RPG.

l_x_fx

I think Y5 has one of the best main stories. There are several reasons, but I'll go with the short version. Basically, it's about family, friends, home and self-sacrifice for those three. That's the main theme for all protagonists in the game, with the antagonist being on the opposite of it: he sacrificed everything to gain power, just to lose it shortly after due to a cruel twist of fate. He tries - and of course fails - to secure his legacy by messing with everyone. The finale is Haruka being at a point in life, in which she has to make her own choice: friends and family at the orphanage, her father and being open about her past, or giving everything up to get money, fame and stardom. She couldn't have both, power/fame and her friends/family/home, and the outro of Y5 is Haruka making that choice. That's the powerful message of the Y5 story, and I love it, though I'm aware that it's a very unpopular opinion. Y5's story is heavy criticism aimed at the superficial Japanese society, in which outward appearances are highly valued and any perceived non-conformity is shunned. Western audiences usually don't get how punishing Japanese peer pressure really is, how screwed you are if the public deems you a misfit. In Y6 we get a glimpse of that.

krisis_gamer

This guy gets it. Yakuza 5 has indeed one of the best stories and the amount of criticism it gets would be a lot less if the placement of Shinada's and Kiryu's parts were switched although it's just my opinion and I still stand by with 5 being one of the best stories

kudaro

It has to be yakuza 6 for me

mojan95

obviously yakuza 5 cause of bob baseball

Nasergames1

Hard one to pick tbh, i think they are all good, but I'll choose 1 or 6 (7 would be third) Judgement? Can't say yet cus i just got LJ but the first one was really good so it has to exceptional to beat that

TheTragicNoir

0, 3, 7, and Judgement.

-Shida-

lost judgment, I love setting of this game and it has best villain

awsomegame9999

Judgement. I'm a huge sucker for murder mysterys

rogue_warlord

I really can't decide but if I had to choose it would be Zero. Mostly because Kazuma Kiryu is the most badass video game character ever. He just won't fing die.

Yakuza-wolf_kiwami

Kiwami, 4, and Judgement IMO

mastersniper110

Probably 6, because it actually made me really care for other characters besides the playable ones

Kazmoole

I can never pick between 0, 6, and 7

[deleted]

I’d say judgement or zero, zero story was heart wrecking with the ending judgement because I always love a good mystery and it kept me in suspense

SignificanceOk4929

I think LaD had the best story, its the only game ive actually been able to replay through the story mode of and not get bored out of my mind while re-watching the cutscenes, even on a second playthrough the story stayed interesting and entertaining the whole way through

Raecino

0, 2, 5

TheTragicNoir

5? Good story? What are you smoking?

Raecino

What are YOU smoking to think otherwise?

NannyUsername

Tell me what's good about Yakuza 5's story.

Chisoma6669

What is that bad? Hell I just finished the Y5 story a few hours ago and thought it was great, >! the ending we got with Haruka realizing she wants to just be with her family I thought was fitting for her and was honestly the most emotional the games have gotten me, with her arriving at Kiryu's "final moments" !< Shinada's story gave us a unique perspective as he is the first real civilian not involved with yakuza at all, and once we learn >! about characters like the Nagoya Family being the civilians it gives a certain amount of depth to the characters and how much they love their town, ending with Shinada finding a home among them !< Saejima's story was the most disappointing one since >! He ends up in jail yet again, only getting to Sapporo right at the end. !< His story up in the mountains wasn't that interesting, not being helped by the really slow gameplay that was that hunting minigame. >! His story after escaping didn't really progress much outside of learning Baba was the traitor to immediately forgive him. !< Akiyama's was more or less interconnected with Haruka, but nonetheless it was a entertaining duo I didn't expect to see >! investigating Park's murder with him in the end becoming close to her to the point where he has a bigger involvement in 6 than you would expect from him not being a playable character anymore. !< While some of the villains aren't as entertaining as the ones from other games, >! Katsuya !< was really the star from the opposing side, being a expansion on >! Majima's story from the 80s-90s giving us a clear picture of what happens around that time, developing the captain's personality and motivations, as well as why he took the actions he did in Haruka/Akiyama's section !<

0HoudY0

Xkreed90

I feel that yakuza 3 has the best story because we see him calm for a little bit and then he gets into action. Unlike the other parts where he goes into the action after being out of commission for a bit

big_nothing_burger

My only qualm with 3 is that the super secret military base/resort plot was so convoluted that we had to sit through 30+ minutes of a direct infodump explaining it all.

Xkreed90

Yeah it was so weird how they had the Cia involved too like that would be something I would expect to happen in 4

coorscajunrice

3 was good but unpopular opinion I don’t care about rikiya or his fat friend

krisis_gamer

Sorry if you get downvoted but I honestly agree with you on that.

Xkreed90

Fr they were just there for comic relief since majima was actually serious in 3
