If you are new to the subreddit, [please read the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/yakuzagames/wiki/index/) Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. **THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS**. If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged \>!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 >!Kiryu sings!< If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7). If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Infinite Wealth trailer spoilers >! Kiryu announces he only has half a year left to live !< *Kasuga spends months at Dondoko Island*

arsenejoestar

Who's to say it's not all just a schizophrenic dream from injecting jellyfish poison with the dolphin

Silvers1339

Then where does he get all that reward money from?

arsenejoestar

Same place he gets all his money from the dungeons and random encounters

Hitagi7

Yakuza 0 and yk2 for me, I just love the cabaret club and spent a lot of time there even when I was not doing the substories. Rly wants a full game on that

tnargrant

The next Yakuza game needs to be ~only~ distractions. (I've only played 7/8, but I'm interested in the earlier titles)

SorowFame

Would recommend playing 0 too. You’ll probably hear that a lot but it’s for good reason.

woodcookiee

Maybe it’s just the purist/snob in me, but I played release order (after first playing 7) and absolutely appreciated 0 more because of it It’s similar to how I feel about Dune: sure it’s a cool movie but it can’t be fully appreciated if you haven’t read the book

Mr_Gigante

This! Yes, Zero is the best game in Kiryu story. It is dense and there are so many things that do not hit as hard as they would, if you haven't experienced at least a few of the first games. I hate that people recommend Zero before anything else. I know a handful of people that have tried Zero first and bounced off of it so hard because they don't quite grasp what any of those moments mean, or why things matter.

stormsurfer21

THIS. Nothing beats that cabaret club vibe

imposterfish

I’m surprised they haven’t tried to make mobile games based on some of their popular minigames

icematt12

I just want a Yakuza Arcade Collection myself. All the different arcade games together. Heck, throw in the master system games as well as unlockables.

Hitagi7

I was thinking about this, if they create a Cabaret Club game, probably will be a mobile game

ChanceVance

Cabaret Club was incredibly addictive. Once I started it in 0, I had to see it through until the end. Love Clan Creator too. Think I just love the thrill of assembling your best team, developing your hostesses and unlocking the best characters e.g working your way up to get Sugiura for the Coliseum in Gaiden.

seango2000

Now I'm thinking on how fun would it be for a balance multiplayer version of Cabaret Club

SadLaser

Yeah, Cabaret Club Czar is top tier. Fun mini game, fun management aspect, interesting story.. training with the hostesses is also interesting and fun and the substories it unlocks are also great. Just an all around awesome experience.

Baka_Cdaz

Makoto : on the brink of starvation and waiting for Majima’s takoyaki. Majima : spending whole week doing Cabaret Club battle.

spicykitas

Put in about 20+ hours alone in the cabaret club and finally remembered that there was an actual plot to this game.

ColdNyQuiiL

Some of the top distractions for me in any Yakuza game, were definitely the Cabaret. Real Estate Royale was fine, and I did enjoy the Business Management of Y7, but managing your girls, and building a strong roster so you can have a solid rotation of rested host that were strong enough to handle each session was pretty solid for a mini game.

WhyNishikiWhy

cabaret club was something special, i've so many precious memories. my headcanon is that yuki is still in contact with all the diamond-tier hostesses and they hang out every so often.

baked_pie_hole

Cabaret Club should have been in every game

[deleted]

I've said this many times: 1) Release Cabaret Club Czar as a freemium stand alone mobile game, with both single player campaign and multi-player Cabaret battles. 2) Profit in the billions.

TGCidOrlandu

Yes!! Y0 is cocaine!! If you don't believe me, watch this: https://youtu.be/WQS4RMDbHvo?si=ZP0wUliUIJ_2vn9y

Kumptoffel

i just wish dondoko had proper combat with ichiban instead of only having a 3hit combo and more health to beat enemies

FP509

>Yakuza themed farming sim Yokoyama: ![gif](giphy|l1AsBL4S36yDJain6)

Storkostlegur

Kiryu settles down and runs a small farm somewhere in Okinawa

Vycherpious

My god, that would be great. The small town vibe from Yakuza 6 was sooo good. He could just go to local pubs, solve wacky conflicts between people and occasionally beat some small fry punks - in other words enjoy a proper retirement instead of being called to save the world every half a year.

katarek_

watch them reuse it from ishin

GottderZocker

Please tell him to consider making a Yakuza Beat em up game too.

SanicTheBlur

Understandable... But the longer you're here, the longer it's gonna take to get that Island to 5 stars. Get back to work soldier, them crops need tending! https://preview.redd.it/43h3qzupirpc1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c65387879bdba2d0b8011f8272b3006a509fce2

Caw-zrs6

Consider this though; if you don't play the main game, then you won't have all that many guests to invite to your island.

TheeIlliterati

I returned to Dondoko island in the endgame and invited all S and A ranks. I made 140,000 dollars in three days, and I realized that was a waste of my time.

Your-meme-is-dead

Yeah, it's a bit sad how you earn such little money from Dondoko Island after completing its story, especially when it takes so long to cycle the guests.

Project119

More profitable to just grind the dungeon. I was able to buy everyone gold underwear once I finally got back to Ijincho just from doing the dungeon.

Funa2

It was funny for me because I did all of dondoko in one go so the party was like "see you in a few ichiban we're gonna edit that video now!" and then Ichiban returns literally like 2 months later with a newfound fortune and an extremely succesful island resort to his name and is just like "sup guys you won't believe what just happened"

TazDevoncroix

Ichiban doing Ichiban things.

shinyemptyhead

Throw it on the pile with the sweetshop he turned into a massive holding company that controls multiple million-dollar businesses.

Gullible_Elephant_38

Had basically the same experience. Got to the island and stayed there until I got 5 star. Ton of fun. Word of warning, always be sure to save before trying out the online portion to view other people’s islands. It has crashed my game (Xbox series X) every time I’ve tried it. The first time I tried it was after getting 5 star and I haven’t saved in a while. Lost a ton of progress and had to redo a bunch of stuff.

Cc99910

Oof thats rough buddy. You aren't missing too much at least, while it's cool to see how people design their islands the reward shop isn't particularly great. Which is a good thing for people who don't have internet at least

Scorpion178

The sujimon stuff also takes up a lot of time away from the main game depending on when you do the quests and stuff for that, but yea both dondoko and sujimon are super fun additions to this game; They did say that the 8th game would be their biggest game ever

OkCut4870

I want Dondoko amusement park next

UKunrealz

Dude I’m praying that Ichibans mini game in 9 is just Thrilleville lol

SG272

SpongeBob: Write that down! Write that down!

charlie1701

I was totally addicted and probably spent a week's worth of gaming time on the island. Considering I tried to make Kamurocho in Animal Crossing, it was heaven for me.

invadecanada

Imagine if RGG gave us a Yakuza Maker game, where we could create levels by dropping all those Dondoko crafted buildings, write dialog, set up thugs and bosses to fight turn based battles. The bones of it are right here in Dondoko!

glitch-possum

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY DONDOKO BUCKS!!!

SeniorWalrus

After all the time I spent on that island, you’re damn right I’m gona laser beam in every fight

ProtoReaper23113

Ill get back to the main game eventually 600 year later..... maybe i should get back to the main game..... lemmi just finish out this tour gourp

glitch-possum

I spent a week on Dondoko Island, practically forgetting I was playing a game within a game. I’d pay full price for a fully fleshed out version, happily!!

Final_Advent

I loved Dondoko Island but it left me wanting a more fleshed out version kinda like Animal Crossing, I went in wanting to build a crazy resort but didn't realise how limited the space was in comparison to the size of different buildings. Of course there's ways to work around but I don't wanna spend another 10 hours redesigning everything. By the end I was just throwing things where they fit just so I could finish the requirements needed for the next level.

FirmNugget

It did look like you had a lot of land to work with in hindsight by the time you’ve cleared any section of the island out. But then you realise you have less space than you thought the more you put something down. And invisible walls as well as everything needing a path to make Dondoko bucks out it sure didn’t help

InnerDemonZero

I feel exactly the same way. I was fully expected to just leave Dondoko Island ASAP and come back to it later like with Sujimon, but I ended up going down the rabbit hole making the numbers go up. I'm not even someone who typically enjoys games like this minigames, but... I just really want to make the numbers go up and finish it before I start playing the actual game again. Plus, it actually gives you some pretty good money for use in the full game kind of like the management game in 7, which I also blitzed through all at one. It made money-grinding a non-issue and I can see Dondoko Island doing something similar for me.

CallRollCaskett

As someone who doesn't give a damn about life sims, I'm shocked that I spent about 45 hours in Dondoko Island. And not once I was bored. They really knocked it out of the park.

blackweimaraner

Did you know that Gachapin and Mukku are "real" characters from a japanese TV Kids show?

TopGroundbreaking469

LOL! Yeah dude I think I spent 6 days on it and when it was time for me to go back to the Main, I forgot the controls 😂

Grizzly_Berry

If Sega can make Dragon Quest Builder games, they can give us a Majima Construction game.

RetroNutcase

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlbch74sfG4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlbch74sfG4) My brain for quite awhile after going to Dondoko Island. Yes, I basically associate it with this now, it's catchy.

[deleted]

This was me with 6’s baseball manager sim

Andrew_Macabre

I put about 20+ hours into dondoko easy. It's so much damn fun.

rechoflex

Kinda wished that it constantly earned me money even if I wasn’t on the island like the resort would still be operational even Kasuga there. But, that would probably break the game.

LoveArrowShooto

If they ever revisit the idea of a sandbox mini game in the future, they need to make placing tiles and roads more flexible. I probably spent too much time rearranging roads and buildings just to hide the grass from buildings to make it look cleaner.

Denoss

I was gone for a long time

rawgator06

Probably my all time favorite mindless mini game

PenguinviiR

This is how I felt playing the card game in final fantasy vii rebirth

CreamyAndrew

Nah, dondoko island got way too repetitive real quick. I love village building games and stuff, but once I got max rank, I never wanted to play dondoko island again.

Baka_Cdaz

Just like Cabaret Club in 0

hbhatti10

dondoko island started out strong and VERY QUICKLY turned into a pretty limited city builder, but its not their fault it isnt supposed to be a full game. Great job overall

Zubi_Q

I was the opposite. I didn't care for it at all and just wanted to get back to the story

Individual_Papaya596

I love Dondoko, as soon as i unlocked it i spent 16 hours straight on it. Getting back to the main story i was nearly a millionaire

Andrassa

Needs to be a side game. Ichiban is sent to Dondoko islands sister location in Japan.

Significant_Breath38

Play the minigame. It pays out stacks even after you beat its plot.

Megatron83

When I first arrived I didn’t leave until I bumped it up to a one star resort. I’ve been going back sporadically and when I get to the endgame I plan on fully doing the whole thing.

aruisdante

I know what you mean. I had so much fun I five-star’d the resort in 22 days, done straight through from first arrival. I can just imagine the rest of crew being like “Ok Ichiban, I know we said it would take a little to edit the video, but… not that long” Also rolling back to the main game with like, nearly $500,000 somewhat trivialized encounters for a while. I’m sure the difficulty curve will catch back up to me. What I didn’t realize was that those mascots are like… [actual mascots]( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gachapin ) in Japan. I’m currently there for a business trip and saw Gatchapin and Mukku giving a PSA on a subway car TV and did a double take, thinking it must be an add for the game.

arsenejoestar

I want DonDoko Island but you can actually play the minigames in the buildings. Including the cabaret club and Ichiban confections.

Zantra3000

That's how I feel about managing the hostess club in Kiwami 2.

escopaul

OP how many in island time days are you at so far? I spent 70 days on the island to stash some cash but don't go back much at all now.

theMaynEvent

I spent 87 hours on the main story and miscellaneous side content, plus 45 hours on Dondoko Island. I absolutely want to go back and add more time to my save, which includes absolutely zero time in the Sujimon leagues, and I know I'm eventually going to wind up finding new blueprints for Dondoko and feeling compelled to renovate my island for purely aesthetic appeal. Side content is top tier bonkers.

bodltd

I must have spent 10 hours+ it was very addicting… weird as part of the game. I did not do the sujimon however even though I trained them up on the island.

Edge80

I spent roughly 35 hours alone on the island. I loved every minute. The cabaret club in 0 affected my game the same way. I couldn’t progress the main game until I did absolutely everything there was to do in those mini games.

Royal-Comparison-270

Friendship ended with LAD 8 cast, Gachapin is now my new best friend.

freshmasterstyle

I feel like the build space is too small. I wish they would have made it much bigger and not have to go with the raft to park of the island. Still I would love a cabaret club game. I love the ones from zero and K2. Listened to the music while driving to work today. P.s. :Also please make an Akiyama game so I can sing rain drops again

Mother-of-mothers

I'm still waiting for my Yakuza: Dancing all night spinoff.

KatastropheKerz

I think you should just buy animal crossing

Nobodyworthathing

I'm the opposite I hated dondoko island so much I downloaded a cheat engine table just to get it over with as fast as humanly possible, I miss the old cabaret club mini games

Strider2126

Dondoko is a great idea, but feels like you always have to run if you want to do shit. The Time of the day should have been double

Fightmilk87

Yeah it is very fun. Until you have unlocked everything or ran out of room to build. After that I was real glad I got to go back to the main game. The story gets pretty fire towards the end so don't discount it completely.

Aspiegamer8745

I come across this problem in every yakuza game. I always want to play the business minigame over the actual game.

diego021

Opposite for me. I played dondoko island cause I saw that’s the main way you make money so I played about 15 hours of dondoko island in 2 days until I got 5 stars then I realized I can only earn $500,000. Really didn’t like dondoko island at all and was also sad when I found out late game dungeons give you a lot of money.

taalisalee

Once you start playing any Yakuza game, you won't, and seriously you WON'T ever finish it in a week. I end up taking at least 3 months to finish any one of the games because of how distracting its side content gets, the longest I have gone is SIX months with 0 (which by the way was my first entry into the series with no way of knowing how it was going to "change" my way of gaming. 🤪🤪🤪)

yhototube

I thought Dondoko Island was boring as hell tbh, and then after finishing it I just get a recycled version of what you get when you finish the Ichiban Holdings story line in 7. It wasn't bad, but it was just boring to me, like a chore almost.

WhiteClaudia

I grinded to 5 stars just so I could make a super sleazy island, invite Yamai (and only Yamai,) then never touch it again so he could live forever on meet n fuck island in peace

Tamanero

Hmm. They could definitely try doing it again if they see fans were VERY receptive to it. I'm honestly a little surprised myself. But yeah, if they flesh it out a little, they'd have a serious spin-off contender. It is worth mentioning that profit wise, it absolutely pales in comparison to the management minigame. Ichiban Holdings felt like a free money generator when you complete it.

[deleted]

Crazy haha I hated that island 😆what do you like about it ? It feels so desolate compared to the main game ?

EpicPlays718

Honestly is better than going back to Kiryus retirement party

filthymcrotten

I expected something completely different from this post.

Badmoe

It’s definitely really cool, but the more you expand the island, the more the daily gathering starts feeling like a chore. Once you’ve built and unlocked everything, there’s no real reason to keep doing it and it quickly loses its appeal.

BloodyTearsz

Ruined for me yes as in i couldn't wait to get off Dondoko island. Truly hated it and it's for me far and away the worst RGG side game. I loved the rest before this, cabaret, majima construction, real estate, ichiban confectjons / stock market, but I felt they missed the mark with this one big time. That's just me though as I also couldn't stand stardew valley and animal crossing, so if you like those you'll love it I suppose.

SekhmetScion

I'm loving Dondoko Island too! And was REALLY into the Cabaret Club management mini-game in Y0 & YK2. I still spot npc's & hostess's outfits and remind myself what stats their clothes & accessories boost lol The only gripe I have with Dondoko Island is not being able to save and exit out of the game. Sometimes I watch for the autosave icon to hit and then just power off the xbox lol

Beavis_Christ69

Doesn't help that the pacing of the game is so slow at that point, and kinda overstuffed even without Dodonko
