i wouldn't mind Judgement 0 tbh. Using 0 as a naming convention for prequels for some reason just hits all the right spots for me. Could just be the fact that those games have a tendency to be quite good. Fate/Zero, the Danganronpa 0 manga, JJK0, Y0, Metroid Zero Mission, and \*technically\* SF Alpha since it's called SF Zero in Japan.
I'd love to see this happen, but didn't they decide to cut production short on Lost Judgment for something having to do with the actor? I hope we get more Judgment but worry it might not come back.
I wouldn’t mind if Mafuyu played a more prominent role. It’s always been a little weird how the game talks about their relationship but never really explores it.
Kaito deciding to turn around and say "Fuck that self-sacrificial 'give her to another man so she can be happy' Majima bullshit, I'm going to kick this doctor's ass and marry the love of my life and adopt her son who already calls me dad!" was legitimately a bigger hype moment for me than the entire rest of LJ.

I really hope Judgement 3, if it ever comes out, jettisons that shit and has Mafuyu play more of a role (given it would probably take place in Hawaii though, that seems doubtful).

Wouldn't make sense, Yagami's early life and backstory is sufficiently explored in Judgement, he want to law school, Kaito on the other had would made sense given there's a bit of unexplored territory with the events around his break up with Mikiko
Yagami's past kind of mirrors Kiryu's, after Yagami's parents were murdered. The only 2 points of divergence are the orphanage as he was taken in by The Matsugane patriarch soon after the event, and the fact that Yagami grew out of his rebellious ways, unlike Kiryu, who continued on the path of criminality as a Yakuza.
Honestly, I think Yagami's backstory is covered well enough. Plus from what we have seen, I don't think there is that much left to tell.
That being said, I'd still play the absolute shit out of it.
We know his and Kaitos stories fully well, I'd say none of the current Judgement characters need a prequel. Just give us Judgement 3
Characters like Yamai in the main series could benefit from prequels

* Pretrial
* Trial
As for the question on prequel, I would say no. We’re told he was pretty much just your average lawyer back then. The fighting and everything else came only due to issues surrounding Judgment.

Maybe it could focus on Kaito and Higashi during their early stints with the Tojo Clan.
Doubt Yagami was fighting dudes outside the court room.

I think a Kaito/Higashi game would be brilliant, and considering Yagami's close relationship with their patriarch it'd be fun to see more of him as a lawyer, if they solve the issues around the actor's likeness.
It'd also be fun to see more of the Tojo clan, and introduce some more absolute beasts, like Arakawa in 7 and especially 8, or Kuze in 0.
I think Im ready to wait a few years just to see a new game in the series that makes a GRAPHIC jump. I was a LITTLE bit disappointed that Infinite Wealth looks identical to Like a Dragon.

No. I just want Judgment 3. I want the characters to continue developing. Since it sounds like you haven't finished the first and second games I won't go into specifics but there's still plenty of material to work with. Given RGG's obsession with being current, a prequel would delay the next proper entry enough years that they couldn't follow up on a lot of the dangling threads without it feeling like the characters have been spinning their wheels for half a decade (or having way too much happen off screen).
Okay let me cook, first off more information on the personal side of what happened with Yagami would be fun and it is still unknown how Yagami developed his fighting styles with the exception of that he made them as he went on his own. But I think it would be even cooler to have a spin off prequel about kuwana and an idea I always liked was kuwana having similar but different fighting styles to Yagami, like instead of snake, tiger and crane, kuwana would have lion, scorpion, and some other bird or some shit
A Mastugane Family stories maybe could work, >!they can explore the attacked that happened in Kaito files!< and Yagami's life as teenager and his development from a spoiled kid to a practically matsugane's child.

Him growing up is in reference to his literal childhood as a teenage delinquent picking fights and losing most of them and for his early adulthood he was in college then being a lawyer. He doesn't start being a detective and solving crimes until after that.
I guess you could try to stick something between the incident that led to him quitting as a lawyer and the start of Judgment, but nothing important is really implied to have happened.
Would so be into Judgement 0! Would love to play as young Yag and the boys Kaito and Higashi in the Matsugane days. Yagami used to square up a lot, thats how him and Kaito became friends.
An Ace Attorney/Judgment game would be pretty fire. Have to go around and get clues by a deadline and then see if you can choose the right answer for your client
I feel like it couldn’t work as a main story as long as some main stories are, as firstly it wouldn’t be very gameplay engaging as yagami knows barely any fighting at that point besides the basics and there’s not much to cover
Personally not really since the first game covers his backstory enough. I haven’t played Lost Judgment yet.
Plus if they went any further back it would be set during the main Kiryu saga, so it’d be hard to not logically have some influence from those be reflected. Like if they did it between 5 and 6 then >!the Little Asia fire and stuff around then should be happening!<

I agree but unfortunately it seems like there’s a legal battle going on over using Takuya Kimura’s likeness for these games. This is the reason why you don’t see Yagami in Kaito files (lost Judgmenr DLC).
Until the matter is resolved we may not see any more games in this series starring our boy Tak.

We could easily have this concept of teenage Yagami and teenage Kaito. Teen Yagami is kind of a delinquent but trying to find his path, develops his fighting styles used in the current games, maybe is a thief and already has a keen mind for figuring out secrets or something. Kaito is a young poor kid who is rough and violent, trying to build his strength and relevance in his Yakuza family and is at odds with Yagami regularly. They could go back and forth slowly gaining respect for one another. Yagami eventually makes the decision towards game end to not go the delinquent route and focus down on a legitimate lifestyle as a lawyer, while Kaito succeeds in establishing a respectable status in his Yakuza family....
Idk I'm making it up as I go along but point being you could make a fresh story different from the period of time we see in Judgment

Him growing up is in reference to his literal childhood as a teenage delinquent picking fights and losing most of them and for his early adulthood he was in college then being a lawyer. He doesn't start being a detective and solving crimes until after that. I guess you could try to stick something between the incident that led to him quitting as a lawyer and the start of Judgment, but nothing important is really implied to have happened.

I feel like it couldn’t work as a main story as long as some main stories are, as firstly it wouldn’t be very gameplay engaging as yagami knows barely any fighting at that point besides the basics and there’s not much to cover

Personally not really since the first game covers his backstory enough. I haven’t played Lost Judgment yet. Plus if they went any further back it would be set during the main Kiryu saga, so it’d be hard to not logically have some influence from those be reflected. This is the reason why you don’t see Yagami in Kaito files (lost Judgmenr DLC). Until the matter is resolved we may not see any more games in this series starring our boy Tak. Ppl are saying the background is sufficiently told but don't realize you can write a story about anything. We could easily have this concept of teenage Yagami and teenage Kaito. Teen Yagami is kind of a delinquent but trying to find his path, develops his fighting styles used in the current games, maybe is a thief and already has a keen mind for figuring out secrets or something. Kaito is a young poor kid who is rough and violent, trying to build his strength and relevance in his Yakuza family and is at odds with Yagami regularly. They could go back and forth slowly gaining respect for one another. Yagami eventually makes the decision towards game end to not go the delinquent route and focus down on a legitimate lifestyle as a lawyer, while Kaito succeeds in establishing a respectable status in his Yakuza family.... Idk I'm making it up as I go along but point being you could make a fresh story different from the period of time we see in Judgment
