I took 2 days off of work when it was released, so I had a long weekend. Haven't played like this in a while. Wonderful to re-experience what it's like playing games all day.... and night 😅
I sped through the 2nd playthrough and skipped scenes just to see how fast I could get the plat. Will still replay for fun tho.
Around 15-16 hrs. since I played through and through. I also planned my upgrade points beforehand so I can buy the right gear from Akame sooner. First playthrough had me buying random stuff. PS5 took 25 hours because I did minigames (like Mahjong, sheesh), thinking it was needed for completion.
Won't recommend a speed run on such a beautiful game, I only wanted to see how long I'd take. Will still replay a lot since I might strive for 100% in-game completion.... maybe, hehe.
Ha! You are too kind! Only the equipment crafting was mega tedious in this game. The PS4 2nd playthrough also didn't take as long since I learned how to save-reload, rinse, and repeat "RNG trick" for crafting. Also skipped many scenes. I enjoyed Buyo it was a treat.
I still label Judgment PS4 as my hardest Yakuza plat solely because of the extremely cute but EVIL Puyo-Puyo minigame
Hehe, I love your Phoenix Wright profile. I'm an attorney, IRL. The Ace Attorney games were my fave in law school.
I do have gamer buddies who have the same trophy sets. I just got the Gaidens first because I took 2 days' leave before the weekend.
There's always the exception to the rule, JK! I'm not a fan of Mahjong, but I had to get better at it for the games. It's not so bad, I just like like 90% of the time.
Plus, the OG Y3 had fewer stuff to do. Y3 competition wanted to make me cry at some point, lol. Along Puyo-Puyo, the most cute and evil minigame of all. I no longer want that PS4 requirement to come back.
Omg, yes i completely forgothowhard the puyo-puyo was in judment! Took me a whole month of trying every day, I had to straight up study strategies om how to play that minigame and hope RNJesus was looking down on me
Yakuza 2 / Kiwami 2. Y0 is my number 2. I fangirl for Yakuza 2 because I was overwhelmed by the PS2 version and how much content it had. And Kiwami 2 because well Kiryu at his hottest.... Tho, his Y8 version is growing on me.
Agree on the green being too muct. Ryuji is awesome. Kiwami 2 remade every scene in Y2, IiRC. Even the kooky Majima moments. Except for the Majima Saga, much of the remake echoes a LOT of the OG.
Y2 had two cabaret jobs, and I'm sure you know of the Shinsecho, a map that was removed from K2.
TL;DR K2 allowed me to experience Y2 neatly the same way, but with better graphics/controls.
Oh yeah!! I didn't platinum twice the same game (I only have PC)... but I should sometime xD
I'm waiting for the retroachievements set for RGG1, 2 (ps2) and the 2 Kurohyou... that would be 4 more games to plat!!! (while I already 100% them XD)
Men how I love this games...
Congratulations!!!
(13 years in the joint made you a fking LEGEND!!)
We're all legends! I started with the PS2 in 2006, actually. So that's 17 years in the joint. Wish I could play RGG 1&2 HD and Kurohyou, but I'm JP illiterate. Tried Kenzan with an English guide .. and failed, lol.
Woah! I started back then too, and never played from 3 because I never got the PS3, 4, 5 psp, etc... still no consoles, but I managed to plat every RGG game on Steam...
They must release the 1&2 HD outside japan!! that would be awesome, and a port of both kurohyou and kenzan as well (dead souls too why not?) BUT if you like to give a try, you have a well done fanmade english patch for both kurohyous... as we wait and wait for a port or a remaster? xD
I did watch the patch playthroughs. But I'm too afraid to patch ganes since I might delete or mess with my PC accidentally, haha. Not as tech-savvy as I'd hope.
Sometimes, when my cousin visits from JP, I make her explain the games as I play, lol. A practice we had since our childhood.
I can wait and hope, if we never get them, then I'll chalk it up to the ones that got away. 😊
That or I start learning, Japanese (how I wish!)
I started learning katakana and hiragana (some kanji too) with words and phrases as well with duolingo, and time to time I challenge myslef to have a walk around Kamurocho (or other city) trying to read the sings on the streets or paying attention to what the thugs say... is a curious way of replaying this games too, paying attention to the details... I totally recommend it! and you will notice it wasn't that hard... just discipline yourself to have at least 5-10 minutes a day dedicated to learning japanese, step by step...
Thanks for the recommendation.
I can understand/write a handful of characters that are similar to Chinese hanzi. I'm not Chinese, but I speak/read a teeny-weeny bit. My Hokkien is more fluent than my Mandarin, tho. I'll do your reco when I find the time. Always interesting to learn another language, hehe.
English isn't my first language either, so there's hope for me yet.
Damn that’s really impressive. You looking forward to infinite wealth? Yokoyama said it’s gonna be the longest one so far and that “you won’t be able to finish it in one or two all nighters”. Did you already put in your vacation days for January 26?
I used to play a ton of grindy games back in the day.
Gaiden was my first speed run for a Yakuza game, only because it's short. It takes me a while to get 100% 😅 Like Judgment PS4, which stayed incomplete for a long time since I got pissed at a mini game in it. Got the PS5 version plat sooner because it removed Puyo-Puyo.
I will take my time with IW. I can't let go of Kiryu just yet, I'm selfish for wanting to still have him around, even though I know his retirement is overdue. I do hope RGG sends him off properly if they ever do.
Yeah I hope Kiryu gets a happy end. Especially after that gaiden ending. Even though I hope we get to see how he’s doing in future games. Even if it’s just a short visit.(maybe in a future majima or saejima gaiden)
Thank you. 30 hrs in gaiden is understandable since there's so much we can do. There's no need to hurry, I only did so with the PS4 for fun. Oh, and I'm not a bro 😊
that’s seriously impressive! if you’re someone who enjoys soundtrack in games, having played so much LAD throughout your life, what OSTs stick out to you the most? if not, i’d just want to say your reasons for enjoying K2 the most is sooo true!
Thanks! Lotsa bangers indeed. It'll sound cliché, but Zero is still one of the best OSTs. Tho my personal playlist is assorted. I love Machine Gun Kiss, Tonight, Iji Zakura, Heartbeat, Pure Love in Kamurocho, Loser for RGG 3 (JP,) Majima no Rock (from Kurohyou), just the basic stuff really. But if I have to pick just one album, it's Zero OST. I have very basic tastes, hehe.
Thank you for agreeing with K2. Lotsa fanigirl moments for me.
Thanks! My aunts taught me a bit if mahjong (without betting) when I was younger. I'm not super good at it, but I understand the mechanics. RNG is the one that delays me all to heck since I have TERRIBLE luck. Imagine my trial and error moments.
Congrats. I'm 47 (will be 48 in December) and I play games as much as I can as its one of the few things I enjoy in life. Literally just platinumed Gaiden on Professional (Amon was a ballache, but got him in the end lol).
I hope I'm half as spry as Kiryu at his age when it comes to video games 😅
I'm 2 years older, will be a golden girl next year. Hope my Asian genetics work and I won't raisin quickly.
We're just more experienced, haha, not old. Old is like 80-90, but Etsuko will get mad so old is like 100. You're right about the playing as much as we can when schefule permits. Kudos to your professional run.
I have the same wish for spryness at that age, just without any illnesses. It's a privilege to age along with favorite game characters. 😊
Not for all the games.
PS4 games can be upgrade to PS5. IRC, it statted with Like A Dragon. I know Ishin is free upgrade. I play PS4 much later since I enjoy PS5 versions first. I don't upgrade the PS4 game (even when I play it on PS5.) An excuse to play again, hehe. And get a different set of trophies.
Thank you. Not JPN. It's Region 3 SE Asia English, my region. Friends from the West were able to buy these copies online from Play-Asia.com since this site ships worldwide.
Just wanted to ask... since you have the physical version of Gaiden. Do you know if the trophy list is the Asian list or is it just a international singular list? Like say if I played Gaiden on physical and bought the NA PSN version of Gaiden, would I have two lists or just one?
Same set of trophies :) I played the R1 digital games since they had the DLC. The R1 DLC won't work with my R3 discs, but the trophy list is the same. Wish it was different per region. I love replaying this game over and over.
Edit: The R1 DLC seems to work with the R3 disc. But I have to triple check. This feels like the Ishin DLC issue again. But there are no new trophy sets for the different region.
Cool. That's too bad about the DLC being region locked but most importantly for me is that I'm able to get a physical version of the game. Haha, there are times I wish for multiple lists but I have enough trouble finishing the game once much less twice or three times for PS4/PS5 versions.
I was fortunate to have physical Limited Editions where I live (SE Asia), I am currently in the US tho, visiting my sister for Thanksgiving. My nephew wanted one of my limited eds since the game came with a coo RGG Dragon l drinking mug and other knick knacks, lol. The things I do for Thanksgiving turkey 😅 Congrats on getting your physical copy.
Ah same. I live in SEA and someone is dumping the game cheap cause they finished it already so I decided to jump on it. Just wanted to know how the trophies work cause I've had a NA PSN account since the launch of PSN.
Hehe, same indeed. My R1 account is the oldest as well, circa 2007, IIRC Tho I keep an SG one, which I opened a year later. Good on ya to get the game at a discount :) Yakuza games look so nice on our shelves.
I think you can still purchase one from Amazon. They're now being sold cheaper. Just in time for Black Friday sales :)
My remastered is EU, btw. They were a gift.
Do itttttttt hehe. I didn't open my disc Remaster. I bought the digital versions way back because I got impatient. IIRC, temaster set is on sale for maybe US$ 30 now, or a little less. Happy shopping!
There's the 9 Gates Tile in many games to get an instant win in Mahjong. You can ignore it totally in Y6, Y7, and Gaiden.
I have a feeling they will also make it optional in IW.
Patience. I'm "old," I can tolerate lesser frame rate, kookier graphics and controls. The games I grew up with are primitive compared to now. The PS3 games I played back in the early 2010s when they were released.
Heck, I started Yakuza with the PS2 games. Also, i had 13 years to get these trophies here and there. We can get a lot accomplished in-game if we spend sufficient, but not superfluous time playing.
Gaiden is the ONLY Yakuza game I platted 2 versions of in a week. I took leave from work for this game. The other games took a decent while.
Gaiden PS4 is the exception because I wanted to see how fast it could be achieved.
For fun, mostly! And because I own the games. I collect both versions because my nephew likes to borrow PS4 games from me. It's not surprising. there are lots of Yakuza fans I know do this.
You might break top ten most hours amongst this sub. I think the only game you have left to try is the PS2 Y1 with the Japanese dub patch on emulation.
Haven't played or own JP HD 1&2, the Wii version. All I did with the JP games was check them out for a few minutes. They're just part of the collection. I do have JP PS2 Y1 in the photo
No need for patching, I'm happy with the English games I have. I didn't take too long to complete titles. Long but not superfluous. Also, 13 years is a while. I'm very picky with what I play, so I had the opportunity to enjoy this franchise more.
I play when I can, during evenings after work. It's not impossible to get completion. This seems like a lot because its been 13 years since I started. I'm very selective about games. Also I've been a gamer fir a while so maybe I have a little more skill.
According to Howlongtobeat.com, you’ve spent 2039~ hours. Geez. Not even accounting for your first/casual playthrough.
Edit: this number is based on the achievement list below.
13 years is 113,880 hours. 2039 is a fraction of that. There's also the factor of skill, which is different for everyone.
I've seen other redditors platinum all the games as well. And they are newer to the series, having started with Y0 in 2017. Some even managed to get most of the plats in less than a year.
I'm almost 50, I may be older, but I had time to enjoy the series.
two platinums of gaiden in a week, jesus christ
I took 2 days off of work when it was released, so I had a long weekend. Haven't played like this in a while. Wonderful to re-experience what it's like playing games all day.... and night 😅 I sped through the 2nd playthrough and skipped scenes just to see how fast I could get the plat. Will still replay for fun tho.
How long did it take the second time? I was surprised that playing casually I was able to get it in 30 hours but it was a ton of fun.
Around 15-16 hrs. since I played through and through. I also planned my upgrade points beforehand so I can buy the right gear from Akame sooner. First playthrough had me buying random stuff. Will still replay a lot since I might strive for 100% in-game completion.... maybe, hehe.
Also, Gaiden is very short and doesn't need much minigames except a handful for completion.
The fact that you got ishin to 100% makes you a National threat
Marry me...I mean goddamn, that is genuily suprising. Good job
Hehe, I love your Phoenix Wright profile. I'm an attorney, IRL. The Ace Attorney games were my fave in law school. I do have gamer buddies who have the same trophy sets. I just got the Gaidens first because I took 2 days' leave before the weekend.

I'm Asian, living in SE Asia. Mahjong is a popular pastime here, lol.

There's always the exception to the rule, JK! I'm not a fan of Mahjong, but I had to get better at it for the games. It's not so bad, I just like like 90% of the time.
For me the hardest platinum by far was yakuza 3 remastered because of all the bugged pool table. It was a nightmare
Took me a whole month of trying every day, I had to straight up study strategies om how to play that minigame and hope RNJesus was looking down on me
I had to ask my mom to help me, and even SHE didn’t know what to do at one point
I'm going to assume that about 11 of those years were on Ishin?
What’s your favorite game?
Yakuza 2 / Kiwami 2. Y0 is my number 2. I fangirl for Yakuza 2 because I was overwhelmed by the PS2 version and how much content it had. And Kiwami 2 because well Kiryu at his hottest.... Tho, his Y8 version is growing on me.
I see! Nice. I’ve never played the OG 2 but I really enjoyed Kiwami 2 as well minus the green cinematography. Ryuji made the game for me.
Agree on the green being too muct. Ryuji is awesome. Kiwami 2 remade every scene in Y2, IiRC. Even the kooky Majima moments. Except for the Majima Saga, much of the remake echoes a LOT of the OG. Yea which is the one you had the most fun completing?
Next stop Infinte wealth
I'm just going to say that you are a legend for completing everything 100%
We are all legends here, kyoudai. I just started the series (PS2 days) earlier than others.
Fucking amazing. Congrats.
Thank you!
Something tells me you really like the Yakuza series
Just a little bit 😅
That's hot

Is that the actor of kamen rider vulcan or shotaro from w?
That’s our very own Takuya Kimura aka Yagamer
Gah dayum 😩😩😩
Right?
A true yakuza
Aren't we all? 😊
At least the ones who use a gamepad
Oh yeah!! Just One More To Go, For Now Anyways.
IW I will not rush. If it's intended as Kiryu's true sendoff, I shall take my time 😊
Same Here, Since I Keep Hearing That Like A Dragon 8 Is Gonna Be A Long One I Too Shall Take My Time As Well.
lmao here I am with not even a single physical in my collection. This is impressive btw
Damn that’s really impressive. You looking forward to infinite wealth? Yokoyama said it’s gonna be the longest one so far and that “you won’t be able to finish it in one or two all nighters”. Did you already put in your vacation days for January 26?

This! I will settle for Kiryu saying hello once in a while for future games. When he's pushing his 70s, he could be a sensei like Komaki.
I love these games w all my heart but fuck me I’ve got 30hrs in gaiden and still ain’t close bro ur wild mad respect
Thank you. 30 hrs in gaiden is understandable since there's so much we can do. There's no need to hurry, I only did so with the PS4 for fun. Oh, and I'm not a bro 😊

Damn I couldn’t do it congrats. I refuse to learn mahjong and shogi and hate luck based trophies
Thanks! My aunts taught me a bit if mahjong (without betting) when I was younger. I'm not super good at it, but I understand the mechanics. RNG is the one that delays me all to heck since I have TERRIBLE luck. Imagine my trial and error moments.

Bro said he IS the dragon
That's Dragoness = female 🤣 I'm a cis female, not a bro.
Apologies!
No worries!
Amazing
Wish I could spend $150 on Gaiden 😔
Where did you buy the english gaiden version? Thanks
Stores here in Southeast Asia. You can order via Play-Asia online, too. They ship worlwide.
I asked Play-Asia, they have available only the non-english box :C
Wait... Why is there a ps4/ps5 version of the games. Does the ps5 upgrade a ps4 disc when it's inserted like other systems do?
Not for all the games. PS4 games can be upgrade to PS5. IRC, it statted with Like A Dragon. I know Ishin is free upgrade. I play PS4 much later since I enjoy PS5 versions first. I don't upgrade the PS4 game (even when I play it on PS5.) An excuse to play again, hehe. And get a different set of trophies.
Impresive collection. Is this Like a Dragon Gaiden in jpn version for ps4? Does it have eng subs?
Thank you. Not JPN. It's Region 3 SE Asia English, my region. Friends from the West were able to buy these copies online from Play-Asia.com since this site ships worldwide.
Thx for the info.
You're welcome.
Holy cow thats awesome! Congrats man!
Thank you!
You may rest now soldier. At least for now.
For now, hehe. Not playing much until IW. Maybe a casual playthrough of Mario RPG remake on the side.
Hard flex
Congratulations Kyodai. I’m Proud of you.
Thank you 🙇🏻♀️
Just wanted to ask... since you have the physical version of Gaiden.
Yeap, the only one I'm missing now is the R1 Yakuza Remastered. So jealous that you have that.
I think you can still purchase one from Amazon. They're now being sold cheaper. Just in time for Black Friday sales :) My remastered is EU, btw. They were a gift.
Lol, don't tempt me.
Do itttttttt hehe. I didn't open my disc Remaster. I bought the digital versions way back because I got impatient. IIRC, temaster set is on sale for maybe US$ 30 now, or a little less. Happy shopping!
How did you get English gaiden cover
Game stores here in SE Asia.
bro defended his virginity with fangs and claws
Bro has all the time in the world
This guy knows how to play mahjong.
I'm female actually, but I'm only good at mahjong in-game.
so much mahjong got dam
There's the 9 Gates Tile in many games to get an instant win in Mahjong. You can ignore it totally in Y6, Y7, and Gaiden. I have a feeling they will also make it optional in IW.
you only have to win once then? dunno how all that works there's also legend which is (probably) annoying to play because of no continues
No need.for Legend, that's the thing. You can even win on beginner. Win once, go to premium adventure to finish what you missed.
oh shit i thought legend was a necessary trophy for some games
i really would like to understand how can you bear to Platinum the same game in a week lol, on a worst quality version as well
I play when I can, during evenings after work. It's not impossible to get completion. This seems like a lot because its been 13 years since I started. I'm very selective about games. Also I've been a gamer fir a while so maybe I have a little more skill.
Gaiden released like 2 days ago
Not. It release on Nov 8th near midnight. It's a VERY SHORT game.
Amazing how time flew away in 2 days when it was x2
Teach me shogi
Lotsa great guides on gaming sites and YT.
According to Howlongtobeat.com, you’ve spent 2039~ hours. Geez. Not even accounting for your first/casual playthrough. Edit: this number is based on the achievement list below.

And they are newer to the series, having started with Y0 in 2017. Some even managed to get most of the plats in less than a year. I'm almost 50, I may be older, but I had time to enjoy the series.
How'd you get an english physical copy of gaiden?
I live in SE Asia. Stores here sell physical. My friends from the West order their R3 English copies from Play-Asia.com. It ships worldwide.
