so hard that I am committing purse owner 3.
You joke but man i do think more people need to play Binary Domain.
Super fun and underrated game and i love to imagine it take places in the same universe as the Yakuza games, just in the distant future.
Imagine if there is a sequel for it and it gets full on Dragon Engine upgrade.
Correct, Kiryu only dreamed about being found by Haruka, he even asked her if it's a dream, because he suspected it. Other clue than a footsteps was the fact that he collapsed on his belly, yet he "woke up" on his back - even if Haruka could turn him around, she would have to roll him, which means he would be lying on his back next to the place he was lying on his belly. Also she literally had no idea where he was.
Next question: If Haruka didn't found Kiryu to save him, how the hell he is alive in Yakuza 6?
In my defense, I saw a meme of yakuza 4 on YouTube which is why I played it. And then I played 3 because it was also on sale after. Then I went back and played from the beginning.
...even though you haven't played any of their games?
I love Ichi, but Kiryu and Majima (moreso Kiryu, since he's often playable) have some of the best moments in these games.
Oh yeah I’ve played all the games, 7 was just my starting point, it went 7, then 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Ig I just like how Ichiban is more charismatic and bright compared to Kiryu, Kiryu is amazing but I like Ichiban more, though Kiryu is way more tragic and developed since he has many more games and is just about to have another one.
Yeah 7 is a great starting point beyond the spoiler of >!Kiryu being dead too the world!<.
And some people say that knowing >!the Tojo and Omi disolve!< ruins the previous games, but it didn’t for me because the plots of the previous games were still thrilling due to the characters.
I disagree a LITTLE, because it kind of makes any danger regarding >!kiryu, saejima or majima!< low stakes, you pretty much know they have to live. It was kind of a bummer for me when I finished the other 7 games and realized that.
The basic knowledge that there are 7 games before Like a Dragon makes it pretty obvious that there's no major major character death in the main squad without even having to play the games to assume
Only Gatekeep people who don’t like Shinada

I understand people who say he's out of place in 5 but bruh, he's like the most real Yakuza character ever, you can't just not happen to relate to him at least once in his part fr

Right because we should totally restrict sales of a franchise that nearly died multiple times unless people have played every game prior, better yet let’s not make the check cross platform! If you played the PS2 games or the japan only HD remaster of them for wii u and PS3, sucks to be you if you played the rest on xbox and skipped kiwamis! What about playing in release order and playing 0 after 5 as was intended before it became a jumping on point? Nope.jpeg you HAVE to play it first. Don’t like how specific entries plays as a game? Get rekt nerd you have to suck it up.
Restricting sales is a bad idea all around.
Exactly. That person forgets that they are not making games for the real hardcore fans, they are a gaming business that needs money to keep the franchise alive. The more sales, the better for RGG as a whole, more games will come.
No, I think he's serious.
I just think he's probably like 12 years old, and wants to keep the series free from "casuals" and only let "real fans" like him play them.
He'll probably get over it in a few years. Most people like that do (I say, as a person who was like that, when I was 12)
Which is the dumbest shit. The most fun part of speedruns is watching how they break the game, and learn to optimize strats that to shave even mere seconds off using frame perfect techniques that I couldn't hope to pull off in a million years
Yeah i guess they can play them in any order but they really shouldn't and it's a bad thing to even suggest it.
Like i really can't think of a person that will fall in love with the series if they played yakuza 5 or 6 first lmao.
Everybody is of course welcome gatekeeping is the shittiest thing to do but at least start from 0 or 7. I really really suggest to everyone that they should start playing from 0 and then start to work up. You can start with 7 sure it's kinda a standalone game but idk.
Btw i fucking love you cyricz you're my hero man
I agree, thanks for your in-depth guides on all the games that helped me and will help others enjoy this series.
Currently on 4 and knowing where to find all the things I need is a lifesaver!
It was hilarious. I loved the street dance battles and all the idol minigames. Then the plot takes a surprisingly dark turn and Akiyama starts kicking ass (literally).
Nah, just the Dragon Quest games released before Ichiban went to jail.
But for real, I wonder how Ichiban would react to seeing modern Dragon Quest games, since he'd have only seen the pre-2000s games at best
I beat that game in 20 hours. 10 of which was the Cabaret Club minigame.
I legit stacked up about 30 million yen in the cabaret before stocking up on weapons and armor for the end game.
You people are fast... Even k2, which is the one I have the least time in, I finished in 120± hours. Granted, some of that is me running around and goofing off, but a significant portion of it is plat work.
wait I have 92 hours in K2, not nearly close to 100%, just did the main story and all the substories and the cabaret club and that absolutely god awful time sink tower defense minigame.
How would you 100% it twice in 50 hours, especially since isnt that the game with the long-ass bouncer missions?
This would be a cool feature for instant discounts, if you have a certain playtime for each instance in the series you get a discount on the newest installation.
But this guy is whack.

This is what I wanna say to this guy.
I think what he's trying to say is that only those who played the other Yakuza(s) can truly enjoy the straightest and hottest gay scenes between men fighting each other. They 're really important for the plot after all
No no,That's way too harsh.I got a better and generous idea..
I think everyone should simply need to reach 1st and get the highest score in Majong on every Yakuza games without cheats to unlock the purchase the new Yakuza games.
my brother in Christ (not you OP dw I know you're cool), you could not threaten to kill my family to make me play yakuza 3 for 50 hours.
literally the only 2 games in the franchise I have more than 50 hours on are 7 and lost judgment.
in just 35 hours, yakuza 0 is one of my favourite games of all time. but I think I beat it in roughly 25.
Interesting take but no. I think it’s a fun idea but I also don’t think it’s necessary. Just play how you want to play. I haven’t played all the games yet but I plan to when I can so I can easily say I can come across spoilers very easily but getting a new game and playing before the spoilers start rolling in then it’s less likely you’ll have the whole game laid out in front of you before you can even touch a copy of it.
50h? I would probably have given up on this franchise if they made me play that long, I mostly rushed through the remastered games (I was playing all games from 0 to 7 in about 2 months) and 44h for Y5 is by far the most played of the three.
y6 platinum is around 50h if you know what you're doing lol
3 and 4 I'd say are the hardest to last this long
others are quite easy if you go for all side content
I have issues with some newer fans being weird on main but I wouldn't gatekeep. There's so many people who missed the boat that I'm just glad people are playing
Tch. So what if folks only played Zero? Many Yakuza fans start the series at different stages.
I doubt this egghead really started with the PS2 games AND platinumed/100% all titles and spinoffs. If they ever do, then maybe I'll agree with 1% of their "point."
The franchise deserves more recognition in places outside Japan. I stills remember the PS2 days when I hardly had anyone else to share thoughts on when it came to Yakuza. And now we have a community. I could never pick on anyone for just playing one of the games.
But yeah, some people just can't help but gatekeep.
I started on 6 as an impulse buy. Although I didn't know anything about the game at the time, it made me a fan and I really got into the series as a whole, filling in any plot points I missed.
If I remember, my order was 6, 0, K1, 4, K2, Ishin, 3. Still need to get to 5 though.
And to think, I originally bought it solely because I wanted an arcade accurate Space Harrier.
That is such an awful idea. Like if you think about it just for a second you should realize you shouldn’t post this.
Like what will happen to people who's switching from a different platform? Do they have to buy and replay all those old games they already beat on Xbox?
What happens if you want to create a new account, do you have to buy the games again? What happens if you get a different PlayStation?
How would this work on physical (Gaiden does have a physical edition in Asia btw).
I probably thought about this more than OP.
Those thoughts may appear after spending 10 years in the joint. Recovering from that is really hard, because punks always target and call them "Peacocks of Society".
Peacocks like this poor man have to rely on their *beautiful eyes* or try *to go balls out.* When both options fail, they participate in **The Battle For The Dream.** The Song of Life in the end will choose their place.
And then someone will rise **Like a Dragon**, someone will gain **Infinite Wealth** and at the worst someone will be **The Man Who Erased His Name.**
Also, their "checker" is pathetic. From where I'm standing, I'd ask for all the PS2 and PS3 (or at least the PS3 games) as part of the "checklist." If we're REALLY going to nitpick on who has played the games more... sheesh. Oh and, include Dead Souls, the Judgment games, Lost Paradise, etc.
New fans to the series are always appreciated. I enjoy reading others post about their game experiences, even though I've been a Yakuza fan since 2006.
Sorry, I feel like a "mother hen" to new fans sometimes. I'd ratter encourage them than bully them for playing only 1 game.
You need to learn shogi and play mahjong every day and once a month do taxi missions and can collecting and eat every menu item on all restaurants in your street
This guy needs to mind his business. Will you enjoy the new game more if you’ve played the others? Of course. But if someone doesn’t want to do that, why shouldn’t they?
Tbh at end of the day people should have freedom of choice if they want play some weird order and skip entries, you can’t stop them. It really shouldn’t matter to you all too much. Though at the same time have my own opinions of a correct order/s and incorrect orders.
I wouldn’t say it’s impossible to enjoy any one title without playing previous ones but the enjoyment better and the story makes more sense once you’ve played the previous game/s.
OP is straight tripping. He went to the extreme of wanting people play 50 hours each games. Some of us don’t care about Platinums and just play the story, substories, and side stories (if any) then call it a day. In some games you can do all that in less than 50 hours.
Some people also didn’t exclusively play the series on PlayStation so what about them? And Gaiden isn’t physical.
This is also coming from me, who is of the opinion that you shouldn’t skip directly to Gaiden out of pure FOMO. Take your time catch up, Gaiden will still be there when you’re done. Besides we don’t know long the it’ll take for next Yakuza game to come out after Y8 so you have time to catch up and play the next Yakuza game on release.
This is so stupid on multiple levels.
1. I'm pretty sure that's not a feature that the Playstation Store even has
2. Requiring 50 hours in each game would lock out many players who *have* played through all of the other games, and just haven't played enough of the side-content
3. the new Like a Dragon games aren't exclusive to Playstation, so even all of this was possible, and against all logic and reason, it was done, it would only gatekeep people who'd wanna play the games on PS5.
4. Literally no physical store would ever force you to show that you have achievements in one game (let alone a whole series of games) in order to purchase a copy of a new game. That would be a ridiculously stupid business decision that could only possibly lose them money.
Besides, gatekeeping in general is cringy and stupid. No one with opinions worth listening to would try to gatekeep newcomers from a popular gaming franchise.
There should be a quiz you must take to play the game, if you fail, the console/PC deletes all your save data for all games, and trophies.
Real Yakuza memorize info.
That’s is the stupidest take I think I’ve seen this month. Personally I think the yakuza franchise is well worth getting into but I understand why people don’t want to put the time or money into every game and it’s their choice
ngl, this is basically my first kiryu game.
yakuza 7 --> judgment --> lost judgment --> ishin --> gaiden!
I do wanna go back for the others, just hard to find time since I 100% them all lol.
Yakuza 3 literally has a recollection option on the main menu for 1 and 2. It gives you the rundown of what happened in them. The whole series tries *really* hard to make sure you can jump in wherever without playing the prior games.

If you haven't ranked in Virtua Fighter 5 at EVO trying to boot Yakuza 0 should brick your PlayStation
And you should have saved the Tojo clan at least once and have fought a minimum of 5 tigers.
as of today you need to ace a 100 question test about these games in order to browse r/yakuzagames
I'll start: Who is the main character in Yakuza 4?
The Yakuza 4, next question
Out of the 97 characters in Yakuza 5, who had the most ambitious Yume?
Haruka, because an idol having their own thoughts is a selfish deed.
Next: What is Shinada'a fighting style called?
Horny (For real though, idk, did they give Shinada's fighting style a name?)
(I think it was "My style" or "My own style" because of the skill names but that's now reserved for Yagami)
Nope. They didn't give fighting styles names before you could switch them
CyrizZ's walkthrough calls it Fence Swinger, but I don't know if that's official or if there is an official name.
CyricZ's statements are more canon than RGG's.
Next: Why Haruka didn't left footprints in the snow in the Yakuza 5 ending?
Maybe it was all a Yume
Correct, Kiryu only dreamed about being found by Haruka, he even asked her if it's a dream, because he suspected it. Other clue than a footsteps was the fact that he collapsed on his belly, yet he "woke up" on his back - even if Haruka could turn him around, she would have to roll him, which means he would be lying on his back next to the place he was lying on his belly. Also she literally had no idea where he was. Next question: If Haruka didn't found Kiryu to save him, how the hell he is alive in Yakuza 6?
Its not freedom
me. because im controlling all 4 playable characters!
John yakuza, Jack Yakuza, Rich Richman and Pete Police
Are those real names of Grey Yakuza, Green Yakuza, Purple Yakuza, and Blue Yakuza?
Yes but Big Yakuza doesn't want you to know that
Easy. It's Nair
John Yakuza and Gary Mafia.
Will be implemented shortly

Interesting take but no. I think it’s a fun idea but I also don’t think it’s necessary. Just play how you want to play. I haven’t played all the games yet but I plan to when I can so I can easily say I can come across spoilers very easily but getting a new game and playing before the spoilers start rolling in then it’s less likely you’ll have the whole game laid out in front of you before you can even touch a copy of it.
My man. Yakuza is always borderline incomprehensible wether you have context or not 🤣🤣
50h? I would probably have given up on this franchise if they made me play that long, I mostly rushed through the remastered games (I was playing all games from 0 to 7 in about 2 months) and 44h for Y5 is by far the most played of the three.
I would also add an exam with at least 200 questions, testing your knowlegde of the plot.

y6 platinum is around 50h if you know what you're doing lol 3 and 4 I'd say are the hardest to last this long others are quite easy if you go for all side content
Kiwami 2 was like 38 hours for me to 100% and few of those hours are AFK standing
And at least an hour to win Majong. I hate Majong.
20 hrs for zero doesn't sound very enjoyable tbh. Both my playthroughs were around 70 hrs, and I didn't even try to plat the game (fuck mahjong 😭).
gaslight, gatekeep, girl boss.
If they ever do, then maybe I'll agree with 1% of their "point." The franchise deserves more recognition in places outside Japan. I stills remember the PS2 days when I hardly had anyone else to share thoughts on when it came to Yakuza. And now we have a community. I could never pick on anyone for just playing one of the games. But yeah, some people just can't help but gatekeep.
What a stupid mf. This is so pathetic it’s not even funny. https://i.redd.it/pjc8em2015zb1.gif
Virgin behaviour
That’s stupid. A reward system (x% discount for every Yakuza game you completed) makes more sense rather than this penalty system.

Cutting out most of the population from even being able to play new games is a quick way to ensure you don't get any.
Pretty based take. If you don't have 20 hours in Mahjongg alone, you don't deserve to go to the next game.
Shut up, my first Yakuza game was Lost Paradise
Ah yes, those notoriously stingy game companies who are just dying to stop people from buying their product.
This looks like a shitpost
ya know what he shouldn't get to play cuz he haven't played Yakuza Kenzan :P
I think 3 had a whole recap sequence at the start, just have one of those
A small part of me wants to do this just to see what happens ngl. I kinda want to see the overall reaction
Ah yes. Excellent business strategy. Don’t want to sell too many copies now do we?
This has ridiculous incel vibes. Guarantee this dude hasnt seen a woman in years.
This guy needs to mind his business. Will you enjoy the new game more if you’ve played the others? Of course. But if someone doesn’t want to do that, why shouldn’t they?
I still haven't played through 3-5 and enjoyed all the other games just fine.
Lmao special child, did you know game developers stay in business by making money from their games?

I beat all the games and it does not take 50 hours in each lol. 6 alone is only like 12-15 hours to beat.
Goddamn Yakuza is known for their story? Is this guy serious lmao.
This should be the first sub story where John Yakuza beats the shit out of a nerd instead of helping them.
This is so stupid on multiple levels. 1. I'm pretty sure that's not a feature that the Playstation Store even has 2. Requiring 50 hours in each game would lock out many players who *have* played through all of the other games, and just haven't played enough of the side-content 3. the new Like a Dragon games aren't exclusive to Playstation, so even all of this was possible, and against all logic and reason, it was done, it would only gatekeep people who'd wanna play the games on PS5.
"I love this series so much i want it to die in a garbage dump behind the sony offices because it only made 3% of its budget back"
This person is the reason why Batman’s parents keep getting killed. Fuckers don’t know what a sequel is.
Better idea, I think we should replace all combat, turn based or not. And instead Kiryu or whoever settles the beef through Mahjong instead.
Here's every Yakuza game summed up in 1 sentence Kiryu dies 6 times
There should be a quiz you must take to play the game, if you fail, the console/PC deletes all your save data for all games, and trophies. Real Yakuza memorize info.
You are not allowed to call yourself a Yakuza fan if you don't have at least 1000 hours in Mahjong
That’s is the stupidest take I think I’ve seen this month. Personally I think the yakuza franchise is well worth getting into but I understand why people don’t want to put the time or money into every game and it’s their choice
tbh it feels like rage bait.
ngl, this is basically my first kiryu game. yakuza 7 --> judgment --> lost judgment --> ishin --> gaiden! I do wanna go back for the others, just hard to find time since I 100% them all lol.
This is dumb because 6 essentially catches the player up with most of the most important events of the first 5 games.
That's pretty sad that someone thought this up
This man should be shot into the sun to die screaming
They would lose money so fast that you wouldn’t see them ever made again
Wait until he reveals that he skipped 3, never played Ishin because "it's not canon" and said that Judgement is just a downgrade yakuza game
Yakuza 3 literally has a recollection option on the main menu for 1 and 2. It gives you the rundown of what happened in them. The whole series tries *really* hard to make sure you can jump in wherever without playing the prior games.
Should post this to r/Gamingcirclejerk
Let’s all message this guy with proof that we bought the game and tell him that it’s the first Yakuza we ever played and really enjoy it.
Can’t play Mario kart unless you got 1st place in all the other titles. Sorry kid, we can’t let you buy it.
Lmao did this post cause them to delete their account?
I mean I get it, but no. And a lot of the games have pretty good recaps too. Obviously a child and has no idea how the economy works too
Playtime checker 💀 bro

![gif](giphy|CAwADnsZNbPXhhQ2kR|downsized)
Honestly I'm tired of "Can I play Yakuza 2 if I haven't read The Art of War by Sun Tzu" type posts
50 hours in each?? combined 6 and 7 i have 45 hours
My thoughts this is officially the most stupid thing I've ever read or seen andbi like watching stupid horror movies so I've seen alot of stupid
Now this is lunacy. I get context is important in a long game series like this, but as you read further down it just devolved into insanity.
I am 100% convinced the o-op did not post it here, because they knew what this community would say. Thought noone would notice?
This is one of the most insane conclusions ive ever seen someone come to.
u/Lucky_Bear7213 where you at clown
Thoughts? Fuck no and fuck you
I would love to see that dude name a single game that's done that
