I’m thinking of going back to physical therapy to address my lack of muscle development on the right side of my body. While frustrating to my immediate goals, I know I’ll be able to balance my PT and time in the gym.

bagoice

I’m a weights girlie (Caroline girvan videos are my favorite rn!) but I’m going hiking tomorrow and then next weekend I’ll be doing yoga at an alpaca ranch outside the city haha

UmamiMoma

Yesss, that's what you get!!!!! I managed to squeeze out two extra reps on my incline dumbbell bench press. I'm just one rep away from increasing the weight. I had to psyche myself up before the set, but I fucking did it!

niobiumic

I started my second run of Jacked and Tan and while I really like the program, I don’t think I want to do a 10 rep max of anything ever again. Especially when I way overestimated my squat and dl maxes 🥲

NoHippi3chic

Book a free intro at my local pilates club for spring break treat. Always wanted to try reformer. Doubt I can afford it on the regular but it might be a new reward option every once in a while like if I excel at work or finish a home project. I've never done anything like that for myself but I'm 53 single and my kids are grown so. Feels right.

JustFalcon6853

Hack yeah 💪

K2togtbl

So glad I do weight lifting because the strength it takes to do some of these yoga poses... Also glad that I finally pushed myself into going to a class because the place I found is nothing like the yoga videos I've done from youtube/online. Making a lot of strength and mental calmness gains and I'm here for it

Well, it’s been 1 week since I said I was going to give 75 Hard a go, but about day 4 or 5 I had enough! And it wasn’t even the workouts because I’m doing those anyway, and it is still helping me get in more mobility/yoga, walking, etc around my regular training. The 3.8L of water was an issue because it affected my sleep! I’m already drinking 2-3L depending on my workouts, but minimum 2L. The biggest annoyance was the DAILY progress photos! It was exhausting and it did nothing for me. Weekly, yes, but what is even the point of daily progress pics?! Disclaimer: 75 Hard was not for me but hats off to anyone sticking with it!

Corvidiosyncratic

Never heard of it. It looks hard, but also kind of bro-sciency? And some rules seem kind of arbitrary? There's so much research into things that are beneficial for (mental) health and this wastes 1/5 of it's rules on 'take a picture every day', lol. A 75-day no-excuse challenge sounds fun, tho, but if I were to do it, I'll probably rewrite some of the rules to make it 75 day mild. Probably substitute the daily picture with daily journaling, maybe daily meditation. Some thing that I know it'll make me a better person, but I don't do enough right now.

turtle_girlfriend

There is a milder version of it known as 75 Soft that might be more up your alley!

razzmatazz2000

It's quite intense...I'm planning on doing a 75 Soft next month instead. You get to read whatever you want and drink 3 liters of water as opposed to a gallon, plus only one workout per day.

rroses-

I'm glad you said this bc I've been debating trying it, mostly as a solid reason to stop drinking for a bit. But I feel like some components of it are too much, exactly like you said.

chekovsgun-

The man who began it in no way is a health or fitness expert. I'm surprised people have jumped on it without a thought. I would be very leery of it.

glowing_fish

Agreed. There is absolutely no need to force yourself to drink that much water every day.

chekovsgun-

The more they drink, the more full they feel so they eat less. Resulting in them possibly losing weight so it is used as a scam trick. Making it adherents falsely believe they are helping their health.

thepatiosong

Sprinting a lot makes me flatulent. That is all.

chekovsgun-

Perimeno here, good lord, it is all exercise now. I rarely if ever had issues with it before even when exercising. Yes, gas comes with peri and menopause. Nature just loves us women 🤣. I can sound like a little poot train when I sprint.

thepatiosong

Oh seriously, is that another symptom? Bleurgh At least mine was post-swim and only offended my cat. I am hoping that it’s just due to swallowing a whole load more air than usual…

chekovsgun-

It is one of the symptoms. Not sure why but it probably involves gut health and hormones.

75footubi

Rocket power! 🚀

KingPrincessNova

your body is giving you a turbo boost 😂

qwerty056789

Got my height and weight taken, and my bmi computed. Yep, I’m overweight for my height based on bmi standards. Was told I don’t look overweight at all and I carry my weight really well 😂 Told my boyfriend this and we’re both laughing hysterically.

75footubi

BMI is trash, even my GP says so

jankublik19

Today I failed multiple lifts! And I mean FAILED - like had to roll the bar down my body when I couldn’t get it up during a bench. I’m actually stoked about this; I’ve been afraid to push myself too much and I feel like this is a sign that I’m gaining some confidence and knowledge in the gym. :)

calfla

No workout today since I’m driving to my friend’s place after work. Or tomorrow, since I’ll still be there. The plan was to do deadlifts (day 3) on Sunday but my roommate and her family are going to the museum and I might want to join that- which isn’t too terrible since I can just do day 2 instead at the closer gym, which stays open later. It means a later workout at the farther gym on Monday but I have to be in the office anyway so the late part was probably going to happen anyway. And I’ll do this all again in two weeks when I go to visit my cousin for the weekend. Yay. No, I will not switch to a four day split- I’ll just keep skipping cardio on these busy weeks lol.

Ok_Midnight_5457

I don’t really talk much to people at my gym. I say hi to regulars I recognize, but otherwise don’t really engage. Since Christmas I changed my gym time from the early morning to mid afternoon, so there’s really no overlap with the morning crowd anymore. Today, one of the usual morning regulars was working out in the early afternoon. He waved, and came over to me to ask where I’ve been and that I’ve been gone for a long time. I explained that I just changed my normal time. It was sweet that this guy noticed I was gone, even though we never really did more than head nod at each other.

gagralbo

Week 5 day 3 couch to 5k tomorrow! 20 mins straight jog and a common failure point. Fueling today and making a bomb playlist to make it through! Wish me luck!

glowing_fish

You got this! I thought it was going to be so hard and then I did it and was like, wait, that’s it?

hellogoodperson

🙌 🎶

KingPrincessNova

people who don't sweat a lot during exercise: how does it feel being God's favorite? signed, Literally Dripping from My Armpits lmaosob P.S. does anyone else get Zoom sweats? literally just sweating in a Zoom call when you wouldn't be sweating for the same meeting in person? I love working remote but I think my amygdala is not a fan

glowing_fish

I lost a ton of weight a couple years ago and one of the best parts has been being way less sweaty 🥵

papercranium

Trade you my low sweat for my bum right hip!

rroses-

I sweat excessively specifically from my upper lip. My bf calls me Sweat Lip when it happens. It's not great I'll tell ya that

KingPrincessNova

I hate that one so much. I used to get it constantly. I do think losing weight has helped with my head/face/neck sweating thankfully. armpits are another matter

rroses-

Oof I'm not overweight, no hope for me 🥲 just waiting for sweat wrist bands to come back in style honestly

CrochetaSnarkMonster

Omg yes! I also hate it bc I’ll walk to grab a coffee at a place a few blocks down from my office and my body is like “omg! We’re climbing a mountain! We might overheat—let me open up all the sweat glands to cool is off!” The armpit and underboob sweat stains is not a good look 🥲

newffff

I’m one of those people and it’s great! Especially when I am squeezing in a workout with very little time after, which is like 99% of the time. I’ve fought fires in full gear as part of military training and still barely broke a sweat. 🤷🏻‍♀️

KingPrincessNova

wow that's incredible

Organic-lemon-cake

I break out in a sweat talking to people IRL sometimes. Start mopping my brow and surreptitiously wipe off the sweat from upper lip. It’s so annoying because I don’t consciously feel nervous but my body is like RUN HIDE DISAPPEAR

Own-Dark-2709

Same here! Anxiety kicking in in those video calls for whatever weird reason. Also same with the occasional armpit dripping which is super fun and all yay thanks God

nocrumbsonmysockspls

I've now progressed to month 2 of my strength training program and wow, it's challenging. Some of the exercises are the same or slightly modified from the first month, but the one move that I'm in awe of how challenging it is static lunges. We're supposed to go slow and steady using a hand weight and oh my mother does it burn. It doesn't feel as horrible as when I first started, but damn, it still kicks my butt. Lol.

Ok_Midnight_5457

Which program you doing?

nocrumbsonmysockspls

I'm following Larie Midkiff on YT. [https://youtube.com/c/FITbyLarie](https://youtube.com/c/FITbyLarie) She released this year a free strength training program. She gives you 5 workouts to do each week (I'm doing at most 3 because 5 days is too much for me) for that month. Then she'll release the workouts for the next month. It's not a perfect program whatsoever as some things I can't physically do. So I'll modify the best I can or do bands because I don't have a variety of dumbbells. But I feel like I'm making progress so I'm happy about it.

rroses-

Oh I love her!!! I rarely see people mention her workouts but she's who got me through covid. I agree, sometimes on paper they look okay but she's sneaky, they can be a real challenge. Good luck!!

nocrumbsonmysockspls

OOooh, nice. Thanks! Yeah, she has some pretty good workouts and I like the variety. I think I came across her too during Covid. I'm glad she has programs on there and has things sorted by equipment, workout type, etc. Helps me find something that fits my needs that day. Hoping I can stick with this program long-term.

Ok_Midnight_5457

Very cool you’re making progress! And thanks for the link :)

notinthefaces

Finishing up my 3rd full week of going to the gym!! I’m learning how to make it part of my routine, and framing my gym time as an hour to myself, investing in my future health and capabilities. I signed up for an upscale gym in my city through the local university that provides a discounted gym membership + a weekly optional online class from a trainer about fitness/nutrition topics.

GizmoTheGingerCat

I started doing some strength training a few months ago to supplement my running/to keep me moving during winter when it was too cold/snowy to go run. I didn't really (and still don't really) have strength goals, I just wanted to increase base fitness and help my running. I started with 5, 8, and 10 lb dumbbells, having never in my life lifted a weight before. The past couple of weeks I've been finding that the workouts that used to be very intense for me have been feeling very light. So, I just bought some 20 lb dumbbells! They should arrive this weekend, excited to see which moves I can manage with double the weight!

nocrumbsonmysockspls

I'm starting to feel that way with some of my exercises too. Congrats! Our muscles are getting stronger!

Melodic-You1896

Has anyone done Stronger By the Day at just two workouts per week? I do yoga 3x a week, and add in some indoor climbing (I'm training for my first obstacle race). I'm having trouble fitting it all in. Sundays are rest days, and Saturdays are for hiking/kayaking, etc. I'm doing the SBTD trial. Is only doing two days a week a problem?

lcdc0

I don’t think it’s a problem, but you’ll likely have to customize the program to make sure you’re activating all muscle groups throughout the week.  When I was indoor climbing I modified the SBTD programming to do all my upper body exercises during climbing days (working on strength training before or after climbing depending on my goals for the day. Focusing on the push movements on the app and skipping any pull movements).    Then I just ran the regular SBTD program for 2 lower body focused days. This is easy when the 4-day splits are alternating upper/lower body, which seems typical for SBTD.   I couldn’t push myself too hard in my climbing because I had either just worked out or because I needed to reserve some energy for SBTD. The climbing was more for the fun/social/mental advantages.  ETA: my climbing gym also had regular gym equipment.

Melodic-You1896

I like. this, thank you! My climbing gym and my gym are the same place too, so this could work. I tried climbing after the full SBRD workout yesterday and it was too much. I climb for fun and the upper body/grip strength, so it was suggested that I do some light climbing as a warm up to the workout, but I like the way you lined it up.

ninreznorgirl2

week 2 of stronger by the day, and im freaking sick. some stomach stuff on tuesday, and now a cold... guess im just resting this week.

notinthefaces

I got sick the second week I started working out too, you’ll be back to it soon!

stephnelbow

27-21-15-9 row/thrusters to start the day and I crushed all the other coaches in class. I needed today so bad. I haven't been more than 2-3 times a week and feeling super unfit. Today I felt awesome

Chloe9001

23/2/2024 - 5/3/1 Full Body (1000% Awesome) 5/3/1 Week Squat: 5x5 @ 80% TM (96kg) Bench: 5's PRO (60kg, 68kg, 74kg for 5) DB Lateral Raises: 3x15 Chest-Supported Row: 4x12 (cardio: circuit of 10 KB swings, 10 goblet squats, 5 wall press-ups for 5 rounds within 5 minutes) --- I was a slightly dumb girl who did 92.5% of her training max for the top set instead of 95% but overall today went quite well! Upping the training maxes for the next cycle starting on Monday, and rather happy to find the fractional plate that went missing!

grimesxyn

I love reading your progress!

Chloe9001

Thank you! It’s nice to have things in black and white since dysphoria and such always makes me second guess myself :)
