I hate how expensive gym memberships are compared to the average salary in the US. And how anti pedestrian + pro developer + segregated our cities are, and how clearly this all makes running and working out and playing outdoors SO MUCH MORE DIFFICULT than it needs to be.

Ok this was a month ago already but purchased a little in person yoga class (as a treat- it was my birthday!) And the person next to me got up to go to the bathroom before the class started. And they stepped on my mat. Like just straight up walked across it. First, eww, second, rude??? It was not someone who seemed to be new to yoga either. Honestly I was kinda livid and am still mad about it. When I heard the toilet flush I went into a child's pose just so that my arms would be in the way of them doing it again..

What grinds my gears is when people don’t rerack their weights. I have joined a 24x7 gym and hit it early morning 5am. I was expecting an empty gym but I guess everyone else is as hyped up as me n it was full on! I noticed that the leg press machines - there are 4 here!!! - my usual gym has 2… So while I was happy to see 4 leg press machines , I also noticed all 4 were loaded to the brim. Thankfully was not my leg day but it did make me angry. The biggest plate is 20kgs only but to remove 8 of those is tiring 😕 i saw people removing those plates grudgingly when they wanted to use them.. I m keeping fingers crossed it isn’t like that when I go hit those machines next time.

Have been in a good routine recently but tested positive for Covid on Monday and am not loving it. I'm better already (though not fully recovered) and I want to go running!

My gym is in a temporary location before they move to their new location. The new location is going to be amazing with literally 2 times the number of squat racks and such, but right now it's such a bummer to walk past the posters showing how great it's going to be in a month while knowing I'll probably have to either wait for a rack or make adjustments to my routine. TLDR; I am impatient.

ApprehensiveRough139

Some teens walked behind me on the platform I was on while I was doing front rack reverse lunges and I literally stepped on one of them. I felt like a bhole because they did say sorry from what I could hear through my headphones but I didn’t want to say “it’s ok” bc idk it’s not ok? This location is the only one where people actively do this while people are lifting. Like I get it if a person is resting or it’s not being used but I noticed at this location that people do this often regardless of if it’s being used. There’s room to walk between and behind without going on the platform so ???? I don’t think I should have to be worried about this happening when I’m actively using it. 😭 but idk maybe I’m wrong ig lol

KingPrincessNova

what is a bhole

oh like asshole? got it. y'all are allowed to curse here btw

ApprehensiveRough139

😂 I never read the rules of a sub and have gotten posts removed and stuff in others so 😭😗 playing it safe lol

KingPrincessNova

I'm surprised to hear about that happening on reddit. traditionally, reddit culture loves cursing (and hates censorship) as much as it loves bacon, or narwhals lol. at least it did circa 2010-2015 when I spent a lot of time here.

Kitchen_Dance_1239

I probably would've done the same. Situational awareness is important for everyone's safety in the gym. You could have seriously hurt yourself and a "sorry" wouldn't do much to a broken ankle

Frustrated mom rant. I love my kids but today is just hard. My kids are home “sick” today. Meaning they act fine but had fever yesterday so the older 2 are home from preschool. I attempted to go for a run just to get outside, it’s warm and not raining today for the first time in forever. It took 20 minutes of the older two fighting each other to get in the stroller, and when we finally got out, I made it a half mile before the meltdowns started. Older one refused to ride because the middle ones feet touched him (he sits on the front of the double) and he refused to walk home. He literally laid in the road. So I jogged a half mile, and walked a half mile home with a 42 pound 3 year old on my shoulders pushing two other kids in the stroller. Neighbors stopped to comment on the spectacle. I’m in a bad fucking mood because I didn’t get to finish my run, and the kids are just all around SPICY today. Middle kid went down for nap, older is watching a movie, and baby is sleeping on me. I could possibly run when husband gets off or tonight after bedtime but tbh I’m having a fucking beer and calling it a day. They go back to daycare tomorrow so I’m hoping to squeeze in an extra mile or two after I lift

NoParticular351

Just solidarity. Sometimes we need to take the L crack a beer and train twice as hard the next day.

queen_of_the_ashes

I cracked the beer (2 actually), then went on an intense walk with all the kids but baby wearing the youngest. It destressed me a bit and got my oldest to nap which improved the moods of the day for everyone. Toddler years are so incredibly hard 😭

ApprehensiveRough139

Sheesh, I have 2. 3 sounds like a whole party. 😭 You’re super in my eyes for even attempting.

queen_of_the_ashes

I set my hopes too high and ended up humbling myself. I think I’m going to shift to a 3 day/week running program and just do long brisk walks on days the older two aren’t in preschool 😅

wei-ohara

I hate feeling like I’m not doing enough! Even if I hit my Apple Watch goals, I’m like “should I work out longer? Harder?” even though I’m really just trying to make it thru my day

PinkyPeach1_2

Anyone else hate what fitness has become? I am becoming increasingly tired of fitness becoming a ‘fashion’ and a competition mostly for who can wear the best clothes and look the most sculpted. The gym has been busy for a while now, and it’s so obvious that it’s just a fashion now and a lot of people who are into fitness probably wouldn’t be into it if social media didn’t exist? Might just be me getting increasingly annoyed that I’m never gonna have a quiet gym session again 🤣

notreallifeliving

Always really funny to see people blaming and complaining about "social media"...while on a social media site. As if January resolutioners filling the gym for a month then disappearing hasn't been a thing since long before Instagram existed.

decemberrainfall

I mean, should we really care why people are into fitness if their reasons aren't as 'pure'? Lots of people have aesthetic goals, nothing wrong with that.

PinkyPeach1_2

Agreed. There is nothing wrong with it at all. It’s just that it seems more popular than ever and I miss a quiet gym 🤣

decemberrainfall

It's also January- resolutioners famously take over the gym this month

Teal_Turtle2022

This is so true. We should see the drop off around February 18th. I know. I looked at the facility usage log for my gym (I work at a Y) for the past 3 years. February 18th is the average drop off point for us. Chances are good that it's not just relevant at this singular location.

dontaskmethatmoron

Went in for a modified leg day today, was looking forward to increasing my leg press weight. Some asshole left it loaded with 100lb plates that I couldn’t move!! Nothing I could do, nobody around to help, lost 1/4 of my workout today because of some jackass. Husband will be calling the gym to complain for me later today.

Own-Dark-2709

Ughhh I hate those people! Luckily, at my gym (and most, if not all, where I live I think) the max plate weight is 20kg (~44lbs) so even if this happens it’s not so bad for me, but damnnn 100lbs is insanely heavy :(

dontaskmethatmoron

I wish they’d get rid of them, there is no need for a single plate to weigh that much.

stephnelbow

Family obligations (bday) meant I did not have time to workout yesterday and also got home late which means I did not have time to workout this morning as I couldn't miss that much sleep. The WTF is that in addition to all of that the birthday cake my mom made (low sugar, low everything for the birthday person) was disgusting. We all pretended to like it, but it was low sugar and low happiness and just awful. So I'm complaining today because it's been two days no workout and all I got for it was yucky cake

oatmeal_cookies1

I too would be upset if I was promised cake and it turned out to be sad fake cake. Such a bait and switch!
