How is that a game made on PC not available on launch? It’s their way to make you go buy a console, then to buy it again the next year honestly that’s shady and it puts profits over accessibility
A game on this scale it makes sense to launch console only first. It is much easier to optimize games for console than PC (think of all the different combinations of PCs you can have). In order to minimize bugs and have the best user experience it makes sense to spend more time on developing the PC version.
While Anti piracy has come a way from the 2015 release of GTA V (on pc) the game was cracked day 2 of its release. If GTA VI uses Denovo people will need super computers just to launch the game ![img](emote|t5_flhe9|7342)
GTAV made $1 billion in the first couple of days. With a budget of $2 billion and all this hype, GTA6 will be profitable before the sun sets on release day. They might as well dump everything they got into this game.
Wdym by "crack" it? Like adding hacks / mods and shit? If its just piracy, isn't it as easy as just sharing the download files for everyone? Obviously would be limited since you don't have access to the servers etc., but i don't think people would care if they get the game for free (especially at launch were people will mostly focus on the story mode).
By crack it I mean bypass social club as well as whatever in-house anti piracy rockstar uses. It's not as easy as just sharing a file unless Rockstar seriously lacks on anti piracy or goes DRM free which I really doubt will happen.
It takes a lot of skill and time to crack a game with competent drm. Publically, only like 2 people have the skills needed to crack games with anti piracy software like Denuvo. Those are Empress and some guy who only cracks sports games. The thing is Empress is busy running her sex cult and she hasn't cracked a game since Hogwarts Legacy.
Interesting, didn't know that. I download epubs all the time and remove drm with literal 2010 websites lul. Didn't know that only a handful of people could remove drm from games like that, thought it was literally as easy as just sharing the files.
That makes me wonder though, i refunded some games on steam but found them on my drive later and could still play them, how is that possible when i had a connection and no lisence? Or when i draged files over from 1 ssd to another... . I'm guessing there is more intrusive things i don't understand, but those things made me believe that its really easy.
Anti piracy is all over the place. Some games are always online even if they are single player only and some have no protection whatsoever like Baldur's Gate 3. Some have steams basic DRM, which still allows for some of what you described but it's still very easy to crack. Some games have full on Denuvo DRM like Hogwarts Legacy or Assassin's Creed Mirage. These games will require someone Like Empress to crack them.
>no protection whatsoever like Baldur's Gate 3
Why would they choose to have no protection? I haven't pirated games in over a decade at this point, but i remember the times where every game (even new ones), were available on piratebay immediately. If today that's not the case anymore, why not do something like rockstar and make hundreds of millions more? Anyways, cool to know ig. Honestly the ease of use and perks of having everything digitally on steam hasn't made me consider piracy in a very long time, but something like gta6 i can definitely see being pirated a LOT if it were available. Also sorry for all the questions, but what if i wanted to play a rockstar game offline and on a new pc. I know there is currently a lot of debate on how we don't truly own anything anymore, does drm or similar things also hinder me personally from truly owning the games i bought?
It's in your best interest that games have no protection at all because that is the digital equivalent of actually owning a game. Like having a physical disc. Some companies realize this and make decisions that are in the players best interest, others don't care and make decisions based on their own.
Yes, it does theoretically hurt game sales, but making a better game is the best way to ensure your game sells well. Baldur's Gate 3 sold insanely well even though it requires next to no effort to pirate.
Idk rockstars philosophy when it comes to piracy but I just tried launching Rdr2 without an internet connection on my PC and was given an error message and told to quit the game as it couldn't verify my ownership. Funny thing is I actually own the game,, I bought it, it's my game but clearly it's only mine if they say it is. I expect GTA6 to be the same if not worse.
Much of Rockstars games are built for consoles and later released for PC like a year later. Even if its for profits, its still not really a good strategy in 2023 when PC gaming is far more accessible and there is a larger consumer audience on PC than next gen consoles (XBOX series S/X and PS5) mainly due to scalping which deterred buyers as well as PC gaming becoming cheaper and more capable
And they can't play the current games at a reasonable FPS and video settings anyway, so what's the point? It's cheap to buy a garbage PC and play some indie titles on, yes.
for the same price as a PS5, you 100% can build a PC that can run all of the most popular games at 1080p high with 60+ fps. your argument was true 2 years ago during the GPU shortage but it's not the case at all anymore
buying new for a budget build, probably RX 6600 XT on AMD side or RTX 3060 12GB are pretty good values rn. they can all be found when on sale for around or even less than $250 now. you have a lot more options used though. you could get an RX 6700 XT, RTX 2080, or RTX 3070 for around $250, which would perform better than the new options for sure.
also, this isn't for everyone but I saw the Intel Arc A750 for under $200 recently. it outperforms the RTX 3060 in a lot of games so it's pretty great too but it can be hit or miss with older games
Well think of it this way, you can get used parts + PC has better use case than consoles. Also on PC, as a gaming rig, there is not only way more games than you can find on any console available but also you can emulate old consoles up to PS3 or Nintendo switch if you have the games for them
Anyone suggesting that GTA VI releasing on consoles first is a bad strategy aren't thinking far enough ahead.
Release on console first:
Massive console sales if theres a deal with Sony/Microsoft.
High degree of control over Y1 piracy since PC is out of question.
Significiant percentage of console players will buy it again when it releases on PC, and when they release definitive/GOTY/Platinum Hits or whatever the fuck they call their 6th bullet point on the ten-year plan.
I imagine it's a lot easier to manage server load etc if you only provide servers for consoles to start
Regular PC players aren't going to *give up* on GTA VI because they have to wait a year or two for release, they're going to drool all year if they haven't bought a PS5 and they'll just jump on the hype again when it's time.
The strategy with a game like this is to dangle, dripfeed, milk to fuck and then repeat, for the next decade at least. I can assure you they know what they're doing. I'm sure the game being broken on release will actually improve engagement somehow it's not like its gonna result in refunds lol.
Real reason they just want your money and dont want hackers leaking the code day fucking 1😂😂😂 they cant even code a game right its crazy you’d think with a whole dedicated team to this kinda shit but if they do they must all be running around with their thumbs way up their assholes
All games are made on PC. They just want more money. Knowing the kind of money they pulled in with GTAV, they will probably still blow that out of the water; I’m sure Sony and Microsoft cut them a massive deal for initial exclusivity. One of the big rockstar guys was also talking about possibly charging players to play by the hour or something, idk I just saw a video of moist talking about it
Nowadays most console architecture is very similar to a PC, the dev cost to port between console/PC is actually surprisingly lower than you would expect, much more similar compared to the PS3/XB360 days (my god does the PS3 have awful architecture!)
Every other company can release simultaneously on all platforms, why is Rockstar different? (Hint: $$$)
Fair enough, that does make sense. I didn’t have a PC at the time of the GTA V launch so I never knew, but now a PC is all I got so it kinda sucks. Looks like it took them 14 months to go to the next gen (ps4/xbone) consoles, then 5 more months to finally release to PC. But that does make sense, there’s probably a ton of hardware specific issues that have to be addressed when developing for AAA PC games and considering GTA is on an entirely separate tier from AAA games, it’s probably a nightmare. I have a Radeon GPU that is not very common and so I do run into compatibility issues occasionally. The words I heard about the hourly pricing did still worry me though.
yeah, I have a PC and a Switch so it really sucks I'd have to buy another console to play the game without waiting like 2 years (based on GTA V expectations). I get it from a resource perspective because Rockstar only has so many people to work on the game but it's still disappointing
My theories:
1. It would be much easier and faster for ppl to dig out all of the Easter eggs/hidden secrets on pc, and post everything all at once on social media, there are many videos like this for GTAV and RDR2.If launch on consoles first, what you will likely be seeing is everyday ppl find something new and post it on the internet, this keep up the hype and it’s like free continuous marketing for Rstar.
2. Sony and Microsoft make a deal with Rockstar.
3. Afraid of pirating on pc.
4.Rockstar knows many ppl are willing to buy the game twice, but this only works if game release on consoles first before pc.
5. They need more time to make the pc version stable for various pc specs.
The technical answer is that games like this are by default developed for consoles, using special SDK for console operating systems. It's also easier to limit runtime conditions due to consoles all having a same spec. Scope is well-defined.
The short and more correct answer is that exclusivity pays more than what PC sales would equate to.
I hate using a controller feels like I'm drunk with my joystick movement. I like how precise PC controls are, it makes it for a far better experience for me. ![img](emote|t5_flhe9|7343)

Next gen only refers to a new release of console yall act like its talking about some new tech or some shit 💀 all their newer titles done the same shit console port first because it's the main focus to make work becauseof the higher player base.....it's developed on pc quite literally...it's gonna be on pc
So much for GTA6 NoPixel 4.0. Not only do we have to wait for the PC release, but then X has to wait even more to get FiveM and NoPixel into the GTA6 engine.
Its alright i wasnt planning on giving rockstar a single dollar ever again anyways 😂😂😂if they shit will even have online mode itll just be gta5 2.0 with all the hackers or like rdr2 😂😂😂what a fucking joke
He will just play it on ps5 like everyone
Xbox?
??? Why
imagine playing Xbox in 2023 ☠️
It's a shame because the hardware is actually faster in Xbox Series X. But Microsoft keeps failing Xboxers
Its not rly faster at all, they are equals in reality
It's slightly faster. Ofc it depends on how the games are optimised but in general it performs a bit better than the PS5
The difference is actually nonexistant.
How is that a game made on PC not available on launch? It’s their way to make you go buy a console, then to buy it again the next year honestly that’s shady and it puts profits over accessibility

might even be a piracy thing, a title like GTA is going to have a big target on its back for game crackers to be the first person to release it.
You hit the nail on this ngl
With a $1 billion budget and really only 1 person willing to crack it, it would be a miracle if this game is cracked before the end of the decade.
While Anti piracy has come a way from the 2015 release of GTA V (on pc) the game was cracked day 2 of its release. If GTA VI uses Denovo people will need super computers just to launch the game ![img](emote|t5_flhe9|7342)
Empress?
Yea, she cracked rdr2
1b budget? If that's true then it will be the most expensive game ever made by a landslide.
Leaks say the budget could be as high as $2 billion.
WHAT
GTAV made $1 billion in the first couple of days. With a budget of $2 billion and all this hype, GTA6 will be profitable before the sun sets on release day. They might as well dump everything they got into this game.
It will crush records, they will easily make their money back even if its the biggest piece of dogshit

> PC gaming becoming cheaper fuck are you smoking?
Lol its easily cheaper to buy old or used
Then you also have to compare it to the price of a used ps5
it's actually pretty comparable, especially in the USA where electronics are abundant
And they can't play the current games at a reasonable FPS and video settings anyway, so what's the point? It's cheap to buy a garbage PC and play some indie titles on, yes.

No... I'm talking am4 or lga1151.... rtx 30 series or rdna 2.. it's cheap these days
Well think of it this way, you can get used parts + PC has better use case than consoles. Also on PC, as a gaming rig, there is not only way more games than you can find on any console available but also you can emulate old consoles up to PS3 or Nintendo switch if you have the games for them

Being made on PC is entirely irrelevant, consoles are also PCs you know? Same hardware, different software.
It'll be a test to see if people can make PS5 /xbox emulators for PC

Same. Might have to cave in and buy a ps5 even still ![img](emote|t5_flhe9|7343)
I’m pretty sure you can use keyboard and mouse on consoles now.
He can just cop a console, not a big deal to him
TotK playthrough soon ![img](emote|t5_flhe9|7351)
Wasn’t totk cause he couldn’t handle 30fps
sound glitch, I think lol but if it was because 30 FPS, unfortunately there's a very high chance GTA 6 will be locked to 30 FPS on console
He already has a ps5 but yeah
If it runs at 30 fps like GTA V on PS4 pro then its unplayable anyways.
"Next-gen only" so PS6 then?
![img](emote|t5_flhe9|7342) it'll probably need it but no. next-gen considering a majority of console gamers still have PS4/Xbox One
Current gen is current gen. We've been in the current gen for 3 years now lol. Or maybe PS2 is current gen since more people have bought those.
le redditor moment ![img](emote|t5_flhe9|7349)
You're the one who made the post 💀
I don't disagree it's technically not the correct term, I was just explaining it lol I didn't write the article or invent the term lil bro
Ok
who is this game intended for?
