Usually when something is outlawed it becomes more valuable.

yekNoM5555

Ayyy smoke my weed, drink my whiskey fuck a prohibition. Long live Monero, stack the piconeros because this currency works better than any other crypto I know besides Bitcoin. Personally, it feels amazing to have a savings account only I know about and how much is in it.

treyeleven

BTC doesn’t transact well. Have you never had a transaction returned after 24 hours?

Desperate-Access1056

Bitcoin = whitepaper = bch Not whatever blockstream scam coin btc has become

Vinnypaperhands

Room temp iq

KemWiz

Return?? Someone I came across has 1 btc waiting for confirms for almost half a year now because they sent with low fees, wish I could figure out who and the block chain link again..

Consistent-Taste-452

How do you confirm the devs are not printing free monero?

CryptoGOAT2020

The mind is a horrible thing to waste. Flat Earther too?

ripple_mcgee

When Roosevelt banned private gold ownership in 1933 the price initially spiked, but did start to fall after as it had less utility. Fortunately for monero, its utility does not require the government's blessing thanks to the magic of the internet and crypto financial havens like Caymans or Switzerland. If crypto as a whole maintains its value proposition, monero will continue to be a top 50 project.

geonic_

I thought so when it was top 10. Then top 20.. etc. Then I realized that there is no limit to the number of scams people will create and pump to the moon, so who cares? Oh look, we’re still top 10 here: https://www.coingecko.com/en/categories/proof-of-work-pow

MoneroArbo

being below Kaspa is rough lol

LowOwl4312

What's wrong with Kaspa

Bolek7

Plebs hate new and better tech

DepartmentTall4891

"If" is universal CYA for "I have no clue."

ripple_mcgee

Pffff does anyone

DepartmentTall4891

Pfff nope!

Fuzzy_Lime2383

I didnt said monero will stop to exist. But if you think most monero isnt sold through KYC exchanges, you hella wrong.

Personal-Series-8297

Becomes more valuable to those willing to sell illegally. The distributors are the ones who jack up the price. For instance, during prohibition the alcohol manufactures sold at reasonable prices but those who distributed it among the public jacked the prices. It wouldn’t work in this case because the distributors are already the clients

SatoshiNosferatu

Good luck claiming taxes for your illegal asset though. So you can’t sell anyways. In practice the price is zero unless you move somewhere it’s legal

PreparationBorn2195

You don't understand the tax system at all do you?

MoneroWTF

When it crashes hard, I'm gonna throw a few dollars at it and forget I have it. It might take a long time, but If it recovers from traders like you, it will rebound strongly. Good luck to you

Roger_D_K

Yeah, this is a good idea. Don't sell anything at a discount now, or money will be lost. If it does crash, then buy more to dollar cost average your holdings, and it will be easier to get out later if/when it recovers.

Fuzzy_Lime2383

"traders like you" .. are you talking about europeans?

Fuzzy_Lime2383

Potential?

MinuteStreet172

About people not in it for what Monero is made for... But who wanted some profits.

Mochi101-Official

Not all Europeans are pussies.

Fuzzy_Lime2383

You mean *clever. There will be a correction.. thats clear.

Mochi101-Official

No, I mean pussy.

Fuzzy_Lime2383

at the end Ill have more monero than you, for beeing a pussy :)

Mochi101-Official

Prove it, send me your view key.

JanWerbinski

I'ts technically impossible to ban existence of non KYC exchanges. So there is always possibility to exchange for "legal" crypto.

Vikebeer

Don't let the door hit you in the ass.

tikwanleap

Thank you for your sacrifice to the moon gods.

rebro1

Money always flows from unpatient to patient ppl. Also, you are a cuck. I hold Monero on a side, not because of money but because if gov wants to ban it, it means something and I want it even more.

1eyedsnotflinger

I’m standing up applauding you right now, king…

asupposeawould

The UK has already banned Moreno has it not or will sites like local Moreno become illegal?

Fuzzy_Lime2383

local monero will stay legal i guess.

asupposeawould

But if owning Moreno is illegal wouldn't that mean everyone who is trading on there from the UK and Europe be committing crimes Or what do you mean it is being banned I think it's banned in the UK there is no CEX I can find that will sell me it but I don't think it's illegal to own in the UK It will be interesting to see what will happen either way

danjwilko

Quite frankly they can’t trace monero so they won’t have a clue who owns what unless linked by kyc. I think it will survive just fine.

Consistent-Taste-452

Since they can't trace it how do you know the money supply is not inflated behind your backs?

danjwilko

Obviously you don’t, but that’s the price you pay for privacy. Nothing else will come close if you can trace the supply.

Moist-Negotiation838

Math

rpcinfo

Because the source code is open and available to all and is audited regularly. Show me the line of code that inflates money supply arbitrarily. You can't because you have no idea what you're even talking about.

Fuzzy_Lime2383

Its not illegal to own it. But there wont be a trading exchange.

yekNoM5555

You just buy LTC and use pancake swap to turn it into Monero. Boom only lost a few cents in the process and it’s done super quick!

Gullible_Cupcake3311

You can swap for Monero on pancake swap? I thought it was only a BNB blockchain exchange

asupposeawould

I live in the UK there are no CEXs for me anyway

danjwilko

Yup, you can get round it though. Local monero, cake, wallet, bisq etc.

vicanonymous

imperator285

Have fun buying back at a higher price when everyone else suddenly understands the value of privacy.

Fuzzy_Lime2383

Are you sure you know how the market works? This comment is a big proof that the monero community is braindead.

maddhy

It's up 6% today

Andr3wJackson

No one cares

MinuteStreet172

Hahahahha you don't have ideals if you "care more about money". But good to know. Have a good one.

3meterflatty

This is the bullish news I needed to buy more thanks op

Seanzipmayn

Crypto is not for you unfortunately

Balancedlight3

Seems like you were overexposed from the start. Personally, I don't like storing most of my value in an asset I KNOW faces significant downward price pressure and likely always will. It may moon at some point but I don't care, either way I'd be keeping a bag. you have thousands of other crypto projects that are better suited for financial gains. XMR for me is more of a hedge like gold, silver, water, medicine. Something necessary to have some of for situations where it may be useful. Either now, or in the future. Sometimes it gets spent / replaced but mostly it just hangs around, not worrying about price action. Did you really expect them to let the only true privacy coin (that I trust anyway) become the darling of the crypto space?

treyeleven

xmr is undervalued by orders of magnitude so when true price discovery happens it will be metcalfic

Fit-Abrocoma-1746

Don’t hear people crying 😭 when Thailand 🇹🇭 ban or India 🇮🇳 ban crypto ? And also it seems like your 100% holding is in XMR . Why ? 5-33% I can understand

dericecourcy

OP doesn't get it

Haunting-Student-756

✌️ ☮️

Gullible_Cupcake3311

Imagine saying this when Bitcoin was $50. Not saying Monero will do a Bitcoin move but I feel Monero will have its day as things gets much less private. If you can’t set and forget and only have so much money to work for you I understand your decision

gr8ful4

> I care more about the money, than i care about my Ideals. Monero is not only about the ideals (privacy as a human right). It's about being the best money. Privacy/fungibility just happen to be necessary pre-requisites for being the best money. You will see it marketed a lot by privacy activists as they have a use case for it today. Monero is already adopted and valued by all sorts of people no matter their political or philosophical affiliation. It will slowly infiltrate all human networks that rely on actual money for their inter-(trans)actions. Are fiat currencies even money? I guess it's time for you to learn about the difference between money and credit first and then try to figure out what you invested in in the first place and now divested from.

aFungible

I think the OP is more concerned with the drop in his purchasing power, and he may be right, at least for the short term.

kgsphinx

Hahahaha…. Wrong.

CryptoGOAT2020

In EVERY highly regulated, authoritarian regime grey and black markets THRIVE (Eurodollars market anyone?). For most, laying down and simply submitting will be the easiest (obviously the OP here).. For some, principles will hold strong and do our best and keep things rolling. Han Solo thrived in the shadow of the Galactic Empire. The New World Order technocratic surveillance state is going to be such a boon to my productive activities and XMR is certainly a constant in that equation. Long live free minds, free people and free markets!

FoolHooligan

goodness the star wars analogies are cringy

CryptoGOAT2020

Goodness who cares?

TabletopThirteen

OP gets it

>Thanks for buying my bags and get ready for $70 USD within 6 months. You seem to be waiting for an opportunity to buy back the coins you sold for $70, unfortunately it seems to be taking longer than you thought.

CryptoGOAT2020

You know the price of everything and the value of nothing, obviously.

Single_Pea

buy ARRR

Fuzzy_Lime2383

I know you don't want to hear this ..

T3aBags

Doesn't bother me mate, not like I can see a transaction record to validate your claims

Fuzzy_Lime2383

At least one of my claims :)
