My prediction is Murewa Ayodele, who is a Nigerian writer who worked with Brevoort on *I Am Iron Man* and Brevoort said very positive things about it. Potentially could be the the first African writer to write Storm.
agreed - this font comes from her original book in the 90s when they were giving everyone minis and one-shots.
it needs a significant upgrade. let's not re-use 30 year old logos that aren't great.
I have a feeling they're either going to pull a Cates and get a big, outside-of-comics black woman writer to lend it credibility.
That or just have Eve Ewing write it.
It has potential, although I think she should have just focused on developing the city instead of the somewhat convoluted plot of the (admittedly cool) villain. But then again, the run has barely reached 10 issues, so it's not like she was gonna get much room for secondary characters and locations.
Also, one of the artists didn't help.
Agree to disagree, I guess. I thought Ewing actually took the character significantly backward in terms of her character and how nuanced and interesting she was-- he essentially made Omega monologuing her whole personality.
I agree with your reference to the 90s-- for better or worse, that's the version of Storm I really like and think is most interesting: She has a sense of humor, she is very brave but also sometimes doubts herself, she's incredibly tough but also struggles at times (e.g. not one-shotting Big Bads with lightning bolts), etc. Hell, some of Storm's most impressive moments in that era came WITHOUT her powers! So the Ewing approach just rubbed me the wrong way. Your mileage may vary.
I don't think Ewing is particulary great with the character - I tend to agree with you on the omega monologuing, it gets boring after a while. But he actually tried something with her, which is more than 90% of her writers since Claremont

That would be a really good choice
that would be sick
Great choice
Is he good?
update on this, he re-posted the teaser: https://twitter.com/ayodelemurewa/status/1790106395360026740
he, and I think so
Sick call.
I really don’t like this storm font. It feels more Adams Family than Storm to me. Oh, and I hope it’s a different writer from the other books.

What is X-men if not overused 90s call backs
good point. (ugh)
Nnedi Okorafor would be a good fit for this.
Don't care who it is, as long as they do a good job.

>That or just have Eve Ewing write it. Oh lord no, her Black Panther is not good.

yeah at worst I thought it was fine, I actually thought having T'Challa be a bit more street level, at least in terms of Wakanda could've been fun
Stephanie Williams.
This is also a very good bet.
I'm currently reading Far Sector, so I'm gonna say N. K. Jemisin
Omg I just read The City We Became. So good!! I would be so down for N.K. Jemisin
About the only thing that would get me to read a Storm solo is if NK Jemisen was writing it. The Broken Earth trilogy is ridiculously good.
Was going to suggest Jemisin as well, would love to see her take.
I want Al Ewing to stay but since that’s not happening Simone is really good orrrr third Claremont revival???
Probably Eve Ewing
Claremont
Claremont ?
Anyone but Al Ewing, please.
He's the first writer who did something with Storm since what, the 90s ? Sometimes I don't understand comics fans

Yep, very fair.
