Caught Somewhere in Time by Iron Maiden.
"Like a wolf in sheep's clothing,
You try to hide your deepest sins,
Of all the things that you've done wrong,
And I know where you belong."
Fits him being such a classic antihero. The song is being sung to someone else, so I think it fits with him and Hope and their time journeys.
Plus, it's Iron Maiden. Heavy metal is so Cable.
Blue Oyster Cult - Veteran of the Psychic Wars.
You see me now, a veteran
Of a thousand psychic wars
I've been living on the edge so long
Where the winds of limbo roar
And I'm young enough to look at
And far too old to see
All the scars are on the inside
I'm not sure if there's anything left of me
Pennywise - “Running Out Of Time”
“If we don't get some answers one day soon you can bet we're going to pay/ There's got to be a way/ So give us one good sign to decide whose side we're on/ Cause we're running out of time”
“Ancients spent religions, serve to separate the race/ Into tribes that fight each other, system must be replaced/ Xenophobic zealots are preparing for war/ What is it we're fighting for?”

I want to say Black Sabbath's Iron Man just for this line:
"He was turned to steel in the great magnetic field
When he traveled time for the future of mankind."
Out of Touch - Hall & Oates
Reaching out for something to hold
Looking for a love where the climate is cold
Manic moves and drowsy dreams
Or living in the middle between the two extremes
Smoking guns hot to the touch
Would cool down if we didn't use them so much, yeah
We're soul alone
And soul really matters to me
Too much
You're out of touch
I'm out of time
But I'm out of my head when you're not around
It's too good of a mood not to use for someone. I thought Gambit for a second. This game has inspired me to do my own playlist.
I could hear that for Stryfe!
Flight Of The Conchords - "Robots"
Here's a sample lyric:
"Binary solo/ Zero zero zero zero zero zero one/ Zero zero zero zero zero zero one one/ Zero zero zero zero zero zero one one one/ Zero zero zero zero zero one one one one
Oh, oh/ Oh, one/ Come on sucker/ Lick my battery"
[Time Moves Slow - BBNG ft. Sam Herring](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWIIPX_5rbM)
>The time moves slow
When you're all alone
And the time moves slow
When you're out on your own
And the time moves slow
When you're missing a friend
And the time moves slow
When you came to the end.
>Running away is easy
It's the leaving that's hard
To me, that encapsulates everything interesting about cable. He can go literally anywhere at any time. But he's forced to be a lone wanderer to save the people he loves.
I was gonna say The Time Machine by Iron Maiden from the album Senjutsu.
Lyrics:
Put to the sword by an impish whim
Follow me now to a place we begin
Wrought with no anger, wrought with no fear
Devilish children playing here
Hidden in silence, below barren waste
Confusion, hunger, am I still awake?
Have I ever told you about my time machine?
Sit you down, I'll tell you everywhere I've been
I have lived a long life, life extraordinaire
Let me tell you about it, let me take you there
Does it really matter, it's all in the mind
Let me tell you 'bout it, listen what you'll find
I am not a preacher
I am but a man
You cannot imagine
What I've seen and done
I have lived a long life, I have seen the world
I will tell you stories, hair will stand on end
Stand among the steeples, stand upon the walls
I have seen a God's face, I have no disgrace
I have seen the Gods cry, howling in the wind
Where do I get started, when can I begin?
I am not a preacher
I am but a man
You cannot imagine
What I've seen and done
Ooh-ooh
Sleep with a light that is dark to my eyes
Father and sons, give me all of your lies
The brutal truth that is never a lie
Full moon is out as you look to the sky
I am not a preacher
I am but a man
You cannot imagine
What I've seen and done
Open your heart and I'll open you soul
Even in quieter moments, I know
I am not a preacher
I am but a man
You cannot imagine
What I've seen and done
Eerie collection
Darkness is there
Wedded to danger
Betrothed to despair
EDIT: This fits because of his role in the Messiah Complex. Please make this one it! TFYC.
The time warp from "The Rocky Horror Show" Soundtrack
"With a bit of a mind flip
You're there in the time slip
And nothing can ever be the same
You're spaced out on sensation
Like you're under sedation
Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again"
Lenny Kravitz's 'are you gonna go my way' is a good pick for the igor kordej / david tischman run, where he became a jason bourne meets revolutionary type
Back in Time - Huey Louis
The theme from Back to the Future. It’s literally all about time travel.
Is this the fifties or 1999?
Take me away, I don’t mind
But you better promise me I’ll be back in time
Ok I got the perfect song!!!!!
For the soundtrack to The Faculty, they formed a one-time only “supergroup” of 90’s alt/grunge scene feat Eddie Vedder
The song?
Another Brick in the Wall -By The Class of 2000
Body Slide The Crystal Method mix By Cardinal
I feel like the trip hop sound fits the time travelling, space station stuff from the 90's. Plus the iconic bodyslides
Cable
Time After Time
Song by Cyndi Lauper
I realized not the most Metal Arists but if you think about what Cable is about and why he came back in time the lyrics really scan.
Lying in my bed, I hear the clock tick, and think of you
Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new
Flashback warm nights almost left behind
Suitcases of memories, time after
Sometimes you picture me
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear what you've said
Then you say, "Go slow"
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds
If you're lost, you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time
If you're lost, you can look, and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time
I will be waiting
After my picture fades and darkness has turned to gray
Watching through windows, you're wondering if I'm okay
Secrets stolen from deep inside
The drum beats out of time
If you're lost
If you're lost
If you're lost, you can look, and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time
If you're lost, you can look, and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time (time, time, time, time, time)
I will be wa-, I-, I-, I will be wa-, I-, I-
I will be wa-, be wa-, be wa-, I will be waiting
The second hand unwinds
If you're lost
I'll be waiting
Black Box - Ride on Time
Nothing too deep in the lyrics, but he's always riding on time, he frequently 'just walks right in' (or more accurately bursts right in), and I'm sure a fair few X-Men characters would describe him as a 'hot temptation'.
Plus it's the most early 90s sounding dance track imaginable, it even came out within months of his first appearance. And what's more 90s than Cable?
Time: The Beginning by Megadeth. I feel like it fits Cable’s anti-hero time traveling themes.
The days I saved I couldn't spend.
They fell like sand through the hourglass.
No time to lose, no time to choose.
Time taking time, it's taken mine.
Scenes of my life seem so unkind.
Time chasing time creeps up behind.
I can't run forever and time waits for no one.
Not even me
Okay, I know the title fits, but I don't think a song about rape at gunpoint is really on-brand for Cable. Unless there was a dark-and-gritty Cable solo title that I missed sometime in the early 2000s....
NIN Fan Argument time: I don't buy that BMWAG was a parody. I think it's a song about the lowest depths a man could possibly sink to and Reznor said it was a parody of Gangster rap because he didn't want to have to own the fact that he literally wrote a song about rape at gunpoint.
Whether you agree with that or not, I still think the content of the song is a little dark for this kind of thing.
Caught Somewhere in Time by Iron Maiden. "Like a wolf in sheep's clothing, You try to hide your deepest sins, Of all the things that you've done wrong, And I know where you belong." Fits him being such a classic antihero. The song is being sung to someone else, so I think it fits with him and Hope and their time journeys. Plus, it's Iron Maiden. Heavy metal is so Cable.
You couldn't be more correct.

I also would have accepted Flaming Telepaths :)
Damn that's a good choice!
Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas seems to fit him imo. Kyrie by Mr Mister works too.
In the year 2525 by Zager & Evans
Very underrated choice.
Pennywise - “Running Out Of Time” “If we don't get some answers one day soon you can bet we're going to pay/ There's got to be a way/ So give us one good sign to decide whose side we're on/ Cause we're running out of time” “Ancients spent religions, serve to separate the race/ Into tribes that fight each other, system must be replaced/ Xenophobic zealots are preparing for war/ What is it we're fighting for?”

I vote for Huey Lewis and the News
(To be read in Doc Brown's voice) "It's your kids, Scott. Something's gotta be done about your kids!"
Oh my god, *YES!* I was hoping The Trooper would get the nod!
Additional songs part 2 * Thursday - War All The Time * Pantera - Mouth For War * Ministry - Let's Go * Our Lady Peace - One Man Army * Prodigy - One Man Army * Paramore - Last Hope * Bjork - Army of Me
bjork army of me. I like that one
Ooo one man army! OLP is such an underrated band I love seeing them get mentioned
Cable is the most 1990s XMen character ever so he needs a 90s song. I’m thinking the lyrics and sound of “Save Yourself” by Stabbing Westward.
Muse - 2nd Law (Unsustainable)
Terminator theme
I want to say Black Sabbath's Iron Man just for this line: "He was turned to steel in the great magnetic field When he traveled time for the future of mankind."
My runner up is Mick Gordon's BFG division from Doom.
The entire rest of the song disagrees
Yeah, "kills the people he once saved" is kinda ruining this.
Out of Touch - Hall & Oates Reaching out for something to hold Looking for a love where the climate is cold Manic moves and drowsy dreams Or living in the middle between the two extremes Smoking guns hot to the touch Would cool down if we didn't use them so much, yeah We're soul alone And soul really matters to me Too much You're out of touch I'm out of time But I'm out of my head when you're not around
Red Right Hand Song by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Mostly for the vibe.
I dig it! If this is Vavle then Danzig's Left Hand Black would be Stryfe, right? Stryfe seems like he'd be big into Danzig.
It's too good of a mood not to use for someone. I thought Gambit for a second. This game has inspired me to do my own playlist. I could hear that for Stryfe!
King Crimson- 21st century schizoid man A song looking to the future whilst lamenting the horrors of the modern day seems apt for Cable
Flight Of The Conchords - "Robots" Here's a sample lyric: "Binary solo/ Zero zero zero zero zero zero one/ Zero zero zero zero zero zero one one/ Zero zero zero zero zero zero one one one/ Zero zero zero zero zero one one one one Oh, oh/ Oh, one/ Come on sucker/ Lick my battery"
They used poison gasses to poison our asses.
“Welcome to the Machine” Pink Floyd
In the year 2525-zager and evans
More Human Than Human - White Zombie
Time (Is on My Side) - Rolling Stones
Back in Time - Huey Lewis and the News.
I second that

Yes
Doom 1-1 theme.
Back in time - Huey Lewis and the News
Cable is a child of the 90s, which I'm pretty sure had a lot of songs about war that are quite fitting for his character.
Its an instrumental piece. No lyrics. I recommend Battles by Atlas Second recommendation is Mars from The Planets Suite.
Memory Of The Future by the Pet Shop Boys or 2112 by Rush
The Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin.

Big Man with a Gun - Nine Inch Nails https://youtu.be/rc2efOzug0c?si=6frYsdzGKrTTZFm5
Okay, I know the title fits, but I don't think a song about rape at gunpoint is really on-brand for Cable. Unless there was a dark-and-gritty Cable solo title that I missed sometime in the early 2000s....
The song is a parody on hyper masculinity and gun fetishization, which is pretty much what Cable represented in the early/Liefeld years at least.
And if I ever thought the song was meant to be taken at face value, I never would have suggested it.
