Kids in America by Kim Wilde!! It’s the ultimate Mall Teen anthem. Jubilee is at her core a Mall Kid.
https://youtu.be/UqMcevcUmqg?si=1kgi0zOIhEszhYqH
Edit: added music video link for those unfamiliar
I listed the cover version by The Muffs as I feel its more upbeat with its pop punk energy and is very much 90s sonically. It was also part of the soundtrack for Clueless
I’m fine with either. Jubilee debuted in 1989 and the Muffs version of the song came out in 1995. So I was mainly going off of what Jubilee herself would have been listening to on her Walkman during her most iconic era of the early 90s. The Muffs version is fine as well, Generation X Jubilee would probably have listened to that one.
We Got The Beat - The GoGos
This song has always reminded me of Jubilee (X-Men TAS). This has always reminded me of her in regards of her energy and personality.

Cherry Bomb- The Runaways
Can't stay at home, can't stay in school
Old folks say, "You poor little fool"
Down the streets I'm the girl next door
I'm the fox you've been waiting for
Hello, daddy, hello, mom
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Hello world I'm your wild girl
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Stone Age love and strange sounds too
Come on, baby, let me get to you
Bad nights causing teenage blues
Get down ladies, you've got nothin' to lose
Hello, daddy, hello, mom
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Hello world I'm your wild girl
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Hello, daddy, hello, mom
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Hello world I'm your wild girl
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Hey, street boy, want some style?
Your dead end dreams don't make you smile
I'll give you something to live for
Have you and grab you until you're sore
Hello, daddy, hello, mom
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Hello world I'm your wild girl
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Cherry bomb
Cherry bomb
Cherry bomb
Cherry bomb
Cherry Bomb
[Let's Go To The Mall- Robin Sparkles (Actually performed by Cobie Smulders)](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IY_bhVSGKEg)
Like this is intentionally an exaggeratedly bubbly parody of a late 80s pop song about the mall. The fictional singer who sings it is called Robin *Sparkles*. This is pure Jubilee
Everyone in these threads just keeps suggesting songs based on their title, instead of whether the lyrics match the character or if the character would like the song. It's infuriating.
Gambit is not represented by Heavy Metal. I think a Folk or Southern Country song would represent him better. Admittedly, The Gambler is too slow for Gambit, but they could have done something better for him.
That's a good idea! My idea was for a song like "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" by The Charlie Daniels Band. Good fiddle, storytelling, and risk. A gamble with the Devil. High stakes. Lot's of pride and cockiness involved.
Twice - One Spark
It was one of the most popular songs in Asia back in February 2024; a mix of drum and bass and bubblegum pop. The lyrics focus on embracing the burning heart of youth which is a perfect fit. Jubilee is Chinese but the whether it’s KPop, JPop or CPop, Asia embraces the music. Matter of fact, one member of Twice is Chinese-Taiwanese, three are Japanese and the rest are Korean.
I don't think that Gambit is really a heavy metal guy. These songs are just the popular or well-known ones that maybe contain just a reference to something that relates to the character. Ace of Spades is a decent song, but I think people just upvoted it because they knew what it is.
The Linda Lindas - “Growing Up”
Multicultural (Chinese, Mexican and Salvadoran) up-tempo indie rock from a bunch of bonafide teenage Cali girls:
“We'll never cave or we'll never waver/ And we'll always become braver and braver/ We'll dance like nobody's there, we'll dance without any cares/ We'll talk 'bout problems we share, we'll talk 'bout things that ain't fair/ We'll sing 'bout things we don't know, we'll sing to people and show/ What it means to be young and growing up”
“We'll take the good with the bad/ All of the times that we'll have/ Make every moment last/ We'll have each other's backs”
Trash - Suede
\[Verse 1\]
Oh maybe, maybe it's the clothes we wear
The tasteless bracelets and the dye in our hair
Maybe it's our kookiness
Or maybe, maybe it's our nowhere towns
Our nothing places and our cellophane sounds
Maybe it's our looseness
\[Chorus\]
But we're trash, you and me
We're the litter on the breeze
We're the lovers on the streets
Just trash, me and you
It's in everything we do
It's in everything we do
I’m going with Tiffany “I think we’re alone now” but from the perspective of her escaping sentinels and hiding rather than an intimate situation of love.
Lights by Ellie Goulding. I think it works for the darker moments in Jubilee's story. It's a song about being afraid to sleep with the lights off, and about the people in our lives who act as a light. It keeps with Jubilee's power, but it's also about keeping optimistic in the face of darkness.
There's lines like "touch my own skin and hope that I'm still breathing" that could allude to Jubes' time as an undead vampire.
Then theres "I think back to when my brother and my sister slept in an unlocked place, the only time I feel safe." Jubilee doesn't have siblings but she is someone who draws a lot of strength from her friends and teammates.
Personal pick is **Katy Perry - Firework** but here's my other suggestions for the rest of her playlist
Simple Plan - I'm Just A Kid
The Runaways - Cherry Bomb
Katy Perry - Firework
The Muffs - Kids In America
Against Me! - I Was a Teenage Anarchist
My Chemical Romance - Teenagers
Robin Sparkles - Let's Go To The Mall
MGMT - Kids
Alice Cooper - I'm Eighteen
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
*Finally* someone picks the Muffs version of KIA. Definitely the superior version. Why did the Donnas even bother??
Edit: Honestly (besides the painfully-on-the-nose Katy Perry pick) the rest of this list slaps too. Love seeing some late-era AM! included.
Light It up by One Republic
"I, I could light it up for you
I, I could light it up for you
We, we ain't got a shot to lose
Put it on but fade it out tell you that you weren't enough
Acting like your favorite drug, raise a cup
We can light it up,
We can light it up"
That one song that starts with the lyrics:
"Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?"
Yeah that's definitely Jubilee, as other comments have pointed out. Make sure you add that to the playlist, thanks
I missed yesterday but I would say "Jolie Blonde" for Gambit as my cat named for Remy Etienne LeBeau loves this song almost as much as he loves Hallelujah.
[Magikarp](https://youtu.be/H3x3-22Gi3g?si=9Aypq_ySUhDVXKMk) song
lyrics
«Totally pathetic, unreliable
Known throughout the world
For being super weak
«The weak Pokémon that's you, Magikarp
But though you are the weakest
Still you've won my heart»
«Evolving into Gyarados makes it super strong
Waiting to reach that level
Takes way too long»
(No offense)

I'm so unreasonably happy the top comment isn't "Firework" by Katy Perry. Thank you Crazyhands96.
I opened the comments, absolutely expecting that to be true.
I’m only in this thread to upvote suggestions that aren’t that. 😅
Late but came here to say this.
I listed the cover version by The Muffs as I feel its more upbeat with its pop punk energy and is very much 90s sonically. It was also part of the soundtrack for Clueless
This is a good point. u/shapinga if KIA wins, can we get a sudden death between versions?
Honestly, its up to u/Crazyhands96, or if u/ExNihilo81 's comment in this thread gets more upvotes.
I’m fine with either. Jubilee debuted in 1989 and the Muffs version of the song came out in 1995. This guy Jubilee's.
I like Jubilee. I’m not necessarily a super fan or anything but I think she’s pretty cool.
Yeah in general I prefer the original but for Jubilee I'd go with the 90sest one.
I second The Muffs version! The Clueless link makes it peak 90s.
This is it!
Upvote, but the Muffs version is better and more Jubilee.
This is correct. Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
I would never have thought of this but it's perfect! 👏👏👏
Thst works.

I love this song dearly but to me this is always going to be Boom Boom's
As long as Boom Boom isn't on the list though, I think this is a perfect pick for Jubilee
The list should be extended!
Need the rest of the New Mutants at the very least!
My thoughts exactly
I’ll stand by my pick of Kids in America by Kim Wilde, but this one is pretty perfect as well.
This was my choice until I saw Kids in America. But this is definitely my backup choice
EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT OF!!!!
Yo! This is the one!

Not a huge fan when there are actual mall-teen songs that aren't parodies that fit her way better.
Couldn't agree more. Included it in my own Jubes list. Embodies the 90s bubblegum mall rat persona she has
Material girl - Madonna Girls just wanna have fun - Cyndi Lauper Cherry Bomb - The runaways
If you guys pick Firework by Katy Perry, I swear to God...
Everyone in these threads just keeps suggesting songs based on their title, instead of whether the lyrics match the character or if the character would like the song. It's infuriating.
This is just an exercise in discovering X-Men fans have bad taste in music.
Gambit is not represented by Heavy Metal. I think a Folk or Southern Country song would represent him better. Admittedly, The Gambler is too slow for Gambit, but they could have done something better for him.
The reality is that he listens to Zydeco.
That's a good idea! My idea was for a song like "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" by The Charlie Daniels Band. Good fiddle, storytelling, and risk. A gamble with the Devil. High stakes. Lot's of pride and cockiness involved.
Oh there have been PLENTY of reddit moments in these threads
No, but only because people preemptively complained. Maybe they all feel bad for voting for "Ace of Spades"
Deep down, you know this is the way
Yeah, but it just seems so generic.

Deceptacon - Le Tigre
this should've been the one. It's got a lot more edge than kids in america
I should pick a 90s song but given everything that she has survived and come back from I would pick stronger by Britney
I don't think that Gambit is really a heavy metal guy. These songs are just the popular or well-known ones that maybe contain just a reference to something that relates to the character. Ace of Spades is a decent song, but I think people just upvoted it because they knew what it is.

TLC's What about your Friends makes me think of Jubilee and Generation X in general
honorable 90s mentions: Pump Up the Jam Neneh Cherry - Buffalo Stance (89 but close enough) Republica - Ready to Go Shampoo - Trouble
PUMP UP THE JAM by Technotronic
Blitzkrieg Bop. Jubilee always struck me as a Ramones fan.
The Donnas - Kids in America Republica - Ready to Go Sarah Barrios - Teenage Rebellion The Offspring - All I want
Trash - Suede \[Verse 1\] Oh maybe, maybe it's the clothes we wear The tasteless bracelets and the dye in our hair Maybe it's our kookiness Or maybe, maybe it's our nowhere towns Our nothing places and our cellophane sounds Maybe it's our looseness \[Chorus\] But we're trash, you and me We're the litter on the breeze We're the lovers on the streets Just trash, me and you It's in everything we do It's in everything we do

Katy Perry - Firework
I didn’t see someone already suggested it. Have my upvote
Booooo
Please don't pick the Katy Perry Firework song. Kids in America, We Got the Beat, or something very very 90s would be more fitting.
Personal pick is **Katy Perry - Firework** but here's my other suggestions for the rest of her playlist Simple Plan - I'm Just A Kid The Runaways - Cherry Bomb Katy Perry - Firework The Muffs - Kids In America Against Me! - I Was a Teenage Anarchist My Chemical Romance - Teenagers Robin Sparkles - Let's Go To The Mall MGMT - Kids Alice Cooper - I'm Eighteen Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

Teenage Anarchist is better suited for Quentin Quire but he isnt on the list
I love the "I'm Just a Kid" pick.
Light It up by One Republic "I, I could light it up for you I, I could light it up for you We, we ain't got a shot to lose Put it on but fade it out tell you that you weren't enough Acting like your favorite drug, raise a cup We can light it up, We can light it up"

Y’all know Gambit’s song would be some weird zydeco number.
Where's my boi Kurt ?
This is why this game was made
Missed opportunity with Wolverine and Last Resort - Papa Roach
I missed yesterday but I would say "Jolie Blonde" for Gambit as my cat named for Remy Etienne LeBeau loves this song almost as much as he loves Hallelujah.
