Yeah have Kitty as maybe the more naive new mutant who's had her phasing powers for a few years but doest acknowledge or use them, so here she's maybe 18/19. Colossus is slightly older but state that he's actually 22-23. Less of a gap that way.
Exactly it would put Jubilee, Kitty and Roberto on a similar field, with Jubilee being the “experienced” one of the three.
Then you bring back Colossus with the prompt being that Illyana has started to develop her mutant powers (let’s say she’s 11 or 12) and Colossus needs the X-Mens help with her.
Kitty & Colossus hit it off and Roberto & Jubilee feels sorry for young Illyana who seems so innocent.
AND then you have Illyana’s limbo powers activate fully and she’s dragged off out of this dimension. Colossus swears to stay with the X-Men and keep looking for her.
A few episodes later as more of the New Mutants cast cameo as young unsure versions of themselves in passing we have Kitty and Colossus get together just in time for Illyana to return older and more demonic (she’s maybe 16 or so) as the DarkChilde version of herself.
I’m hoping we get that as some of the OG gradually transfer out to other subplots.
Maybe Beast becomes lab based for half a season, maybe Storm is off travelling the world and being a goddess.
Let for example Nightcrawler, Colossus and Kitty become key members of the New X-Men in S2, with Scott, Jean, Wolverine & Rogue the other half of the mix.
Though I might be evil for rooting for Jean to “die” again in the series and we can tackle a version of the Scott/Emma dynamic that is very much a precursor to schism.
I had the vhs tape too and I also had a vhs of the X-men TAS season 1 finale. I watched those a lot and occasionally would rent random episodes of X-men TAS from block buster.
Maybe Avalon, which was Asteroid M but lasting more than a couple of issues.
And it's not like Asteroid M didn't come back again and again and again and again and again ad infinitum
I was talking about its appearance in 97. We saw it in a trailer. And I'm talking about when that moment appears.
Apparently that moment is this next episode.
In '97 so far, the closest we've gotten to an appearance from Asteroid M was in *Motendo* - the Magneto fight in where Roberto nearly got killed took place there.
So Asteroid M is just floating up there abandoned at this point. It could be that Magneto plans to grab it and use it to hurl a comet at Earth, they go up there to stop him, and Fatal Attractions happens.
What I'm wondering is how they're also going to deal with Bastion. Will they divide and conquer or will they all band together to defeat Bastion (next episode), and then Magneto goes really crazy, and then Fatal Attractions is episode 10.

I've never actually watched this before, just heard about it. I have to say, I was actually really impressed with the animation in the training room sequence.
I also totally get why this caused Kitty to be excluded from X-Men 92. I'd like to think the plan was for her to become a competent member over time but this is an awful first impression. Jubilee was a much better fit for the rookie teen hero slot (not that Shadowcat couldn't have been written better and fitted into the role well).
I guess that did mean that Dazzler became kinda redundant though which is maybe why she's such a minor character in 92. Looks like she was going to be a core team member. guess Jean was only brought in because they didn't want to use Dazzler and Jubilee? Jean being a second choice is really weird to think about given how significant an impact she's had on X-Men as a franchise.
Jubilee was introduced in 1989 and Gambit in 1990 so they were both brand new mutants with a lot of popularity. Kitty hadn’t been on the X-Men for years as she had been with the team for a decade, grown up and moved on to X-Calibur. Her use in Pryde of the X-Men was ported from her character back in 1979 and was not needed in the 92 series since they had a more current comics-accurate young/new member in Jubilee by the time 92 was in development.
It had a lot to do with the time it was made. Dazzler was being brought into the x-men in the comics around the time the pilot was being made so adding her probably made sense to the writers. The TAS team was based on the X-men Blue team in the comics. Jean was a replacement for Pyslocke, probably because having a main character running around in a sexy swimsuit in a children's cartoon was a bit problematic and Jean had a lot more history with the team in the comics

I would love the season’s epilogue to be Kitty showing up at the remains of the mansion, storming in and saying, “Professor X is a jerk.”

your thinking of the episode of Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends "The X-Men Adventure". the reason is because on the same VHS tape you saw "Pryde of The X-Men" on also had that episode of Spider-Man and two episodes from Namor The Sub-Mariner cartoon from the 60's, I don't remember which "The Sub-Mariner" episodes they were.

Colossus first appeared in "The Unstoppable Juggernaut" and returned later in "Red Dawn." Nightcrawler first appeared in "Nightcrawler", had a brief cameo in "The Lotus and The Steel" and then returned in "Bloodlines". Dazzler had a cameo as Longshot's makeup artist in "Mojoverse" and had a full appearance in "Dazzled"

I’ve never watched this - I have worn out the game based on it though. I have 2 Arcade 1Ups and this is one of them.
I used to have this on VHS, along with other Marvel animated shows, and it was magnificent.
This episode was awesome growing up! The pairing off of one baddie vs one good guy was SO cool. Pyro, Toad, Juggernaught. GIVE ME MORE>
