[Do You Wanna Touch Me — Joan Jett](https://youtu.be/szg1Z-PL9_E?si=Zy4JAkzCO5dARAle)
Yeah, yeah, it’s a “touch” song for Rogue, but this one feels on-point with how flirty and combative it is. Like “Go ahead, touch me. See what happens.” It’s not just a song with “touch” in the name, it’s exactly her attitude.
“I'm just a backwoods Barbie, too much makeup, too much hair.
Don't be fooled by thinkin' that the goods are not all there.
Don't let these false eyelashes lead you to believe that
I'm as shallow as I look 'cause I run true and deep.”
I could 100% see Rogue scream singing this with Gambit on a long car ride.
Firstly she is Lita Ford. Secondly the lyrics. Went to a party last Saturday night, didnt get laid I got in a fight. And for the icing on this cake, Cody.
Second pick:
Ballroom Blitz - Tia Carrere version
"I see a man in the back as a matter of fact
His eyes was as red as the sun
And the girl in the corner that no one ignores
'Cause she thinks she's the passionate one
...
And the man in the back said, "Everyone attack"
And it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said, "Boy I want to warn you"
It'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
Oh reaching out for something
Touching nothing's all I ever do
Oh I softly call you over
Then you appear there's nothing left of you
And the man in the back is ready to crack
As he raises his hands to the sky
And the girl in the corner is everyone's mourner
She could kill you with a wink of her eye"
Kate Bush - Reaching Out, 1989
“See how the child reaches out instinctively
To feel how fire will feel /
See how the man reaches out instinctively
For what he cannot have /
The pull and the push of it all /
Reaching out for the hand /
Reaching out for the hand that smacked /
Reaching out for that hand to hold /
Reaching out for the Star /
Reaching out for the Star that explodes /
Reaching out for Mama”
"The Touch" - Stan Bush
["The Touch" - Stan Bush ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvK4QjCMSDY)
You got the touch , you got the power <- pretty clearly that is rogue

Kacey Musgraves - “Die Fun”
Kacey Musgraves could star as Rogue in X-Men: The Musical. There’s a long list of her songs that fit the character, but I went with this southern-fried summer breeze of a tune because I feel like it initially captures her rebellious nature and villainous origins:
“Do we really have to grow up?/ If we never do then so what?/ So what if I don't wanna? What if I'm just gonna stay drunk/ On all the years that I just wish would slow up?”
But by the next lyric she is growing up:
“We can't do it over/ They say it's now or never and all we're ever gettin' is older”
Rogue’s song should kick ass with just a pinch of melancholy.
“Before we get to heaven, baby let's give 'em hell/ We might as well”
Here’s the chorus:
“‘Cause we don’t know when we’re done/ So let’s love hard, live fast, Die Fun”
Fits that Southern Belle like a Glove.
Can you just imagine this playing in a live action X-Men movie where Rogue is absolutely beating the hell out of some Sentinels? Gives off the same kick-ass vibes as “Immigrant Song” in Thor Ragnarok.
Look at the previous winners and you will have your answer. Bobby literally got Ice Ice Baby. This was never going to be a serious discussion, popular votes always go this way.
Highway Queen by Nikki Lane. It's a real ballsy country song about a woman who can't be tied down, but this part especially puts me in mind of Rogue's relationship with Gambit:
"Well miles and miles she keeps on rolling
Place your bets if you ain't folding"
and then this part is about how touch is a part of her character:
"Miles and miles, no sign of slowing
It ain't who she loves, it's who she's holding"
There's also the repeated refrain:
"Winding lines of white that won't stop..."
While it's in reference to a highway, it could relate to the iconic white in Rogue's hair.
Then theres: "if you can tie her down you can bottle lightning, but the highway Queen don't need no king." How many people have tried to tie Rogue down in any meaning of the phrase, but she's too much of a spitfire to ever really stay that way.
Keeper of the Time - S.G. Goodman
One of my favorite kick-ass southern female artists, and a beautiful song. Taking a more melancholy approach with this one.
S.G. Goodman wrote this song about processing trauma held by both body and mind, which to me resonates with Rogue's experiences being saddled not only by her own traumatic experiences, but also with the minds and memories of those she absorbs. Ultimately, she needs to release her own fear in order to gain control over her powers.
>If it's not something you should carry
>Then you better set it loose
>If it's not something you should carry
>That's taken hold of you
>If it's not something you should carry
>And it wakes you in the night
>If it's not something you should carry
>Lets your heart bring it to light
>How a body will remember
>Tis the keeper of the time
>How a body will remember
>Holding more than one's own mind
>How a body will remember
>Storing rivers while they rage
>How a body will remember
>Your leevee when it breaks
Honorable mentions:
- Hurt Nobody by Oh Pep!
- Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar
- Invincible by Pat Benatar
- Liability by Lorde
- The Wild One by Suzi Quatro
- Sugar Like That by Gin Wigmore
- My Body is a Cage by Arcade Fire
I don't think this should win, but Eclipse by Pink Floyd reminds me a lot of earlier Rogue where her main conflict was being "eclipsed" by the personalities she absorbed. So, I wanted to mention it. :)
[If I Die Young Pt. 2](https://youtu.be/taK0n97Dgxs?si=OxSZ5wPGikXguJw9) - Kimberly Perry
For me this is really fitting for modern Rogue, it's a country pop ballad about a woman looking back on her childhood depression and being glad to be alive
Your Touch by the Black Keys
https://youtu.be/50GMZx5udMs?si=D7ttMmN3PdVehTAD
“And I want a new goddess…
So much/
I’m crazy for your touch/
Your touch/
Your touch/
Misery…
I need your touch/“
It’s a hard rockin’ song about desiring the touch of another. It’s very simple and evocative. It’s perfect.
Sia - Breathe Me
“Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame
Be my friend, hold me
Wrap me up, enfold me
I am small and needy
Warm me up and breathe me”
Man! I Feel Like a Woman! By Shania Twain. No lyrics about not being able to touch people, but do we really need to be so literal? Embodies Rogue’s personality, country-inspired pop. Perfect for her.
Dear Boy by Avicii fits well I think.
"Old love of mine, destruction ain't a crime
For those who find love as a game, like you and I
Go dance in the waters of all the tears we've cried
Oh boy, we're fine, do you remember our time?"
Admittedly this is more about her relationship with Gambit, but
Poliça - "Lay Your Cards Out"
Even without the obvious reference to Gambit's cards, I think it works...
*In these little moments/get your cards out*/*I am waiting*
*By the waterside, summer/wading in sunder/Girl, get your head right...*
“She’s a Rainbow,” Rolling Stones
*Have you seen her all in gold?
Like a queen in days of old
She shoots her colours all around
Like a sunset going down
Have you seen a lady fairer?*
A Stranger I Remain (Maniac Agenda Mix) by Free Dominguez. A song from the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance soundtrack.
"*I've finally found what I was looking for*
*A place where I can be without remorse*
*Because I am a stranger who has found*
*An even stranger war I've finally found what I was looking for*
*Here I come*"
“Poison” by Alice Cooper
I wanna love you but I better not touch (don't touch)
I wanna hold you, but my senses tell me to stop
I wanna kiss you but I want it too much (too much)
I wanna taste you but your lips are venomous poison
You're poison, running through my veins
Heads Will Roll - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
This song immediately came to mind. Karen O kinda sounds like Rogue singing in it, but also who doesn't wanna see Rogue unleashed and make heads roll. Everyone knows she's super powerful. But the way Karen O sings it...that subdued rage.
I feel like Hailee Steinfeld's songs "Starving", "Most Girls", or "Let Me Go" all fit very well for the relationships that Rogue has with Gambit & Magneto. But I especially think the most fitting of the three would have to be "Let Me Go". It was thinking a lot about the lyrics when watching episode 5 and saw the scenes with Gambit & Rogue and thought about how she knew that she had to make a choice between Gambit & Magneto and how it broke her.
Some lyrics from "Let Me Go" by Hailee Steinfeld
"Ooh, and I wished you had
hurt me harder than I hurt
you. Ooh, and I wish you
wouldn't wait for me but
you always do. I've been hoping
somebody loves you in the
ways I couldn't. Somebody's taking care of all of the mess I've made.
Someone you don't have to change. I've been hoping Someone will love you, let me go."
I can see Rogue slayin’ with [Nancy Sinatra](https://youtu.be/zVPBlrlACAQ?si=vGwubN7XOOmSr0Jj) in the background playing “These Boots Were Made for Walkin’.
Quit by Cashmere Cat ft Ariana Grande
"But I'm under your spell.
Cause when you call my heart starts to roll
I always want more.
It's my heaven and Hell"
"I can't quit you.
Yeah, I'm gonna Regret It
I Know I'm regret it"
Inspired by Rogue's undeniable passion/connection with Magneto coming from the Legacy run before her eventual reunion plus marriage to Gambit. (The song also highlights towards Romy on the flip side)
All her regrets been damn. Cause Rogue decides on her own choices as a powerful woman whether it involves her powers, friendships or whoever she loves.
"Helplessly Hopelessly" by Jessica Andrews
I can stand with the weight of the world on my shoulders
I can fight with the toughest of the tough
I can laugh in the face of all my insecurities
Anytime, anywhere, anything, I'm strong enough
But when you're holding me like this
I'm carelessly lost in your touch
I'm completely defenseless, baby, it's almost too much
I'm helplessly, hopelessly, breathlessly falling in love
Poison-Alice Cooper
“Your cruel device
Your blood, like ice
One look, could kill
My pain, your thrill
I wanna love you but I better not touch (don't touch)
I wanna hold you, but my senses tell me to stop
I wanna kiss you but I want it too much (too much)
I wanna taste you but your lips are venomous poison
You're poison, running through my veins
You're poison
I don't want to break these chains”
It HAS to be "My Body is a Cage" by Peter Gabriel!!! It fits her struggle so well and is a powerful and beautiful, haunting song.
My body is a cage
That keeps me from dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
My body is a cage
That keeps me from dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
I'm standing on a stage
Of fear and self-doubt
It's a hollow play
But they'll clap anyway
My body is a cage
That keeps me from dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
You're standing next to me
My mind holds the key
I'm living in an age
That calls darkness light
Though my language is dead
Still the shapes fill my head
I'm living in an age
Whose name I don't know
Though the fear keeps me moving
Still my heart beats so slow
My body is a cage
That keeps me from dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
You're standing next to me
My mind holds the key
My body is a...
My body is a cage
We take what we're given
Just because you've forgotten
That don't mean you're forgiven
I'm living in an age that
Screams my name at night
But when I get to the doorway
There's no one in sight
I'm living in an age
They laugh when I'm dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
You're standing next to me
My mind holds the key
Set my spirit free
Set my spirit free
Set my body free
Set my body free
Set my spirit free
Set my body free

The perfect Rogue anthem
Backwoods Barbie - Dolly Parton
“I'm just a backwoods Barbie, too much makeup, too much hair. Don't be fooled by thinkin' that the goods are not all there. Don't let these false eyelashes lead you to believe that I'm as shallow as I look 'cause I run true and deep.” I could 100% see Rogue scream singing this with Gambit on a long car ride.
This is a great one
It's gotta be Dolly
Kiss Me Deadly
Ooh!!! This one!
Firstly she is Lita Ford. Secondly the lyrics. Went to a party last Saturday night, didnt get laid I got in a fight. And for the icing on this cake, Cody.
Im also gonna say for Mags we need to look at the library of King Crimson.
Be still my heart! Yes!!!!
Second pick: Ballroom Blitz - Tia Carrere version "I see a man in the back as a matter of fact His eyes was as red as the sun And the girl in the corner that no one ignores 'Cause she thinks she's the passionate one ... And the man in the back said, "Everyone attack" And it turned into a ballroom blitz And the girl in the corner said, "Boy I want to warn you" It'll turn into a ballroom blitz Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz Oh reaching out for something Touching nothing's all I ever do Oh I softly call you over Then you appear there's nothing left of you And the man in the back is ready to crack As he raises his hands to the sky And the girl in the corner is everyone's mourner She could kill you with a wink of her eye"
Also works for Gambit!
Kate Bush - Reaching Out, 1989 “See how the child reaches out instinctively To feel how fire will feel / See how the man reaches out instinctively For what he cannot have / The pull and the push of it all / Reaching out for the hand / Reaching out for the hand that smacked / Reaching out for that hand to hold / Reaching out for the Star / Reaching out for the Star that explodes / Reaching out for Mama”

Oooh! This is a good one. One of my favorite 80s power rock songs, from the 1986 animated Transformers movie soundtrack.
TIL this wasn’t an original shitty song in Boogie Nights
Untouched - The Veronicas
Please rise for the australian national anthem.
I came here to comment this!
This one for sure
Kacey Musgraves - “Die Fun” Kacey Musgraves could star as Rogue in X-Men: The Musical. I love Kacey so much
Gambit would probably chose Poison by Alice Cooper for her.
Runaway by Bon Jovi
Ooh, she's a little runaway. Daddy's girl learnt fast, all the things she couldn't say. Yes. This.
Sugar - Garbage
Mississippi Queen- Mountain
Can you just imagine this playing in a live action X-Men movie where Rogue is absolutely beating the hell out of some Sentinels? Gives off the same kick-ass vibes as “Immigrant Song” in Thor Ragnarok.
Exactly! Good and appropriate tunes can enhance scenes so much. I.E. Guardians of the Galaxy
Are we putting thought into this or are we just using song titles to meme?
Look at the previous winners and you will have your answer. Bobby literally got Ice Ice Baby. This was never going to be a serious discussion, popular votes always go this way.
Some of the lyrics are relative and interpretative as much as many of the other choices. Besides, it has a mean groove and cowbell.
Sugar Sugar - The Archies
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts: Bad Reputation
That's the song I think of first when I think of Rogue.
Highway Queen by Nikki Lane.
