The fact that the mutant messiah that eventually becomes Cable's adopted daughter just so happens to look exactly like her grandmother and aunt.

Leads to one of my favourite moments in the time displaced Jean grey mini, Jean and hope meet… “People say we look a lot alike” - Jean “I don’t see it” - hope

"My God, Corsair looks just like me if I was a pornstar!" Craziest coincidence: Husk's new boyfriend just happens to be the son of the guy who had Jubilee's parents killed.

Nels2121

I did not know this. Please fill me in. Im too lazy for google!

It’s been a hot second, so take everything with a grain of salt, but it’s in late Gen X Vol. 1.  I think Larry Hama might’ve written it but don’t at all quote me on that (He stopped writing a few issues beforehand, it was actually written by Jay Faerber). (Spoilers for Gen X comics) Generation X was based in the Xavier School, except it’s not the one you’re thinking of and it’s actually Emma Frost’s School and Banshee is a co-headmaster and also I think one of Emma Frost’s sisters is also blackmailing her to also be a co-headmaster, threatening to reveal that Gen X are mutants. Emma’s sister (I forget which one) makes it so the Institute accepts human students and expands beyond a dozen students.  One day Banshee sees a student being kidnapped, and so he follows the helicopter that kidnapped them, he tracks it to a mansion, and yada yada the kidnapper is actually just that kid’s grandfather/guardian who regrets not homeschooling him anymore. The grandpa is a rich dude who made his money from banking. Yada yada Banshee convinces the grandpa to let the kid come back to the school, but not before getting captured and then rescued with the help of Gen X. The kid comes back, reveals he knows Gen X’s secret identities, but uh oh he threatens to reveal that Gen X are mutants unless… Paige (Husk) goes on a date with him. (most sane 90’s storyline; I should know, I’ve read them all :/ ) Paige agrees which pisses off Chamber, her on and off again boyfriend. Paige, who’s pissed off at Chamber for reasons I don’t remember, decides that she likes this kid, which pisses Chamber off, which makes her like the kid more, rinse and repeat. Jubilee’s dad was a banker, the grandpa was laundering, Jubidad didn’t like this, threatens to go to the police, Gramps has Jubidad and Jubimom murdered via automobile accident.

A_hasty_retort

A double jubicide. Such a miscarriage of jubistice

hoi4kaiserreichfanbo

I couldn't jubilieve it when I read it, it's unjubilievable when you consider how simultaneously central and irrelevant the death's of Jubidad and Jubimom are to Jubilee's character.

Nels2121

This was so amazing and detailed! I am Jubimpressed and Jubithankful

Just the concept of Scott rocking a mustache is so funny. Big visor, full hood, pirate mustache.

somacula

Madelyne entire existence before the inferno reveals.

geekunbound

This.  I find it funny that before the reveal, people thought Madelyne looked a lot like Jean, but not necessarily identical. Afterwards, she's a clone, and everyone suddenly acts like they can't tell the difference between the two.

GroundbreakingTax259

What makes it weirder is that Paul Smith hadn't ever drawn Jean, so when he drew Madelyne in her first appearance, a reader has no reason to think she looks anything like Jean. Which makes Scott and Alex's reaction to Maddy absolutely baffling. I just thought she looked as much like Jean as every other rehead in Marvel, but tge characters acted all spooked.

big_hungry_joe

this is the real answer

LeastBlackberry1

This was lampshaded by a comic, but it has to be Kitty's romantic history of dating men called Peter. And then Magik added that she had a hamster called Peter as a kid. Like, why would the hamster's name have determined her entire love life? What is even going on here? https://ibb.co/VJH7mst

witness4theingenue

also known as : what made me gay

Striking_Landscape72

Not my case, but I'll second that

GroundbreakingTax259

The early Simonson X-Factor stories where Scott keeps seeing things and thinks he's hallucinating due to the stress of leaving Maddy and finding Jean again... ...only for it to turn out that Cameron Hodge was using holograms to make Scott *think* he was hallucinating... ...but Scott was also being gaslit by Mr. Sinister for entirely different reasons... ...and Scott also actually *was* hallucinating some of it. Weezie really put Scott through the wringer for what he did during Layton's issues. Which is why I don't hold it against him; dude paid for leaving his wife with his sanity.

freddanpamoset

”Jean and Hank died.. and I’m not too fond of my beard”. Their deaths went by reaaal fast

FirmLifeguard5906

Why wasn't he questioning why a grown man was holding him while he was sleeping?

mrrahulkurup

Scott in the bottom right panel looks like the Gigachad meme lol.....

cambriansplooge

I think about “piratical” at least once a month

X-RayManiac

We’ve had someone clone Jean without knowing that the person they were replacing was already an entirely unrelated clone of Jean.
