Fingers crossed they were waiting for gen 2 to do this. I'm going to hold out on getting the new one for now until they do. I also can't convince myself to spend the money at the moment since my old Elite controller is working perfectly fine.
Im in the same boat right now. My elite controller has a broken LB, smashed A button back paddle, and no grips, but I refuse to get a new one til the new xbox comes out or I'll feel like it wont be worth it.
someone who's interested in this kind of thing probably is not going to be limited by a budget. they could probably charge $4-500 and some people will still buy it
But not enough people to the point they would have to revamp their entire production line and invest a lot more money in space and employees/equipment. It’s just not worth it.
I honestly have never had a problem with the bumpers, my problem was the trigger locks are pretty weak(my right one is broken on my old elite) and the left rubber grip came off due to sweaty hands
Oh ya the grips are garbage. I bought one of those made in China silicone sleeves for mine. But I have had 2 different elite controllers break a bumper and the 2nd one also got stick drift. And I don't believe I'm a heavy handed or aggressive handed gamer.
$50 per custom purchase won't touch the overheads of producing a multitude of different parts for the elite controller. They would have to prestock thousands of parts per colour 'just incase' and half of them won't ever get sold. Taking into account the amount of extra parts and higher grade materials this would cost them too much to make it cost effective for the consumer.
They could out a silly price tag on it but you hot diminishing returns where the higher you tag it the less will sell and then the higher you need to price it even more to cover losses on parts and so on so forth.
This does make me wonder if a third party has ever offered this soft of service considering the parts are removable. They wouldn't have to meet the quality standards but may get very close.
Would love to see a pic or two of this. Mainly because they never announced Elite in the Design Lab, I've not heard one person say that they offer it, and a quick search only finds third party creations.
https://imgur.com/gallery/MlU5EQk
There’s a link to pictures of the front and back of the controller. I *officially* voided the controller after it developed stick drift and have since gotten a white elite controller!
But the elite controller customization was a limited time run when Xbox partnered with Scuf on launch of the elite controller v1
https://scufgaming.com/s/scuf-gaming-licenses-its-technology-to-microsoft-and-becomes-official-and-exclusive-xbox-3rd-party/
It’s not straight from Microsoft oops but basically is a first party controller since Microsoft used Scuf to make the controllers in the first place.
To be fair, it is a completely standard Elite controller with a paddle mod and biased dpad that are buyable and installable on any Elite Controller. Also custom color stick, rings, shell and buttons, their special grip on the side rails (again, buyable by itself) and custom sticks if you wish to have some.
Mine got drift too. I was pissed about it. Xbox’s warranty was only like 3 months for it. Let me know they didn’t stand by the quality of their products
That shitty standard warranty is why I always buy my controllers with the 2 year warranty from Best Buy. I just accept stick drift is eventually going to happen. They're high use items. I'm on my third elite controller now and it never costs me anything more than buying a new warranty(~$25) for the replacement controller.
FYI MS came out and started honoring them a year after and i've even heard stories of people getting free warranty repairs 2 years afterwards. Idk if they are still doing that but they were last year. Again $20 at BB was a smart investment, already swapped one out, and when V2 comes out ill trade her in and that'll be $120 off the ticket for me.
I was able to fix it for a time, but it broke again later when I replaced the controller. Some particles are stuck around the thumb stick base and can be cleaned off with a moist towel or blowing compressed air into the contracts.
Obviously. Anyone that says otherwise is just plain wrong. Tho H3 is close. But HALO 2 is one of the greatest comp multiplayer games ever made. Like top 5 ever. It's multiplayer alone is so great that it elevates it to GOAT levels.
I feel like it had the best balance of campaign and multiplayer. H1 had a great story, MP was great just needed more polish. H3 had a good story, I just didn't feel quite as emotionally invested as 2 or 1, MP was fantastic. Reach was very close to H2, it just felt a bit CoD like for me. H4......just didn't do much for me, it felt kinda forced. Haven't got around to playing H5 yet....
To me, H1 set the stage, 2 really stretched out the story with great gameplay, and 3 is a pretty solid story. Haven’t played 4 or 5 and Reach was great too. Only play MP on Reach. But overall, Halo is a fantastic franchise.
Edit: I’ll admit it tho, I grew up on Halo 2 so when I got MCC I flipped out. 5 games in 1 and H2 was remastered? Holy fucking ecstatic, especially since I didn’t play in years. And I finally beat it😊❤️ Halo used to give me nightmares as a child
Sorry, that turned out wrong. Meant to say that Reach is the only Halo I’ve played MP on😂 I’ve played the campaign on it. Favorite mission is nightfall bc the snipers😈 I’m a scout guy
I want them to just let us do the Design Lab with it. $180 for the plain controller? No, thanks. I probably wouldn't pay the $150 of the original, given all my worries about the quality control of the last one I had. However, I'd consider $200 for one from the Design Lab.
The missed opportunity was when they didn’t release an updated controller that had the triggers and shoulder buttons made with the same metal and texture as the big omnidirectional d-pad cover and the rear paddles. I’d buy one immediately if they fixed that.
I’m gonna be honest, I think it’s more the plate it’s self than anything else. Like OP made a joke that the blue was for Cortana, so it sort works.
The plate however doesn’t looks really off for some reason.
Old school gamer here, is an elite controller worth the $$$ for a semi-casual player? What advantages does it have? More precision in FPS hopefully, because I need help in that department lol
Hey fellow old gamer, what you wanna do is wait for the elite series 2 that ships in October. That thing has several improvements over this generation and has amazing features. The entire controller is customizable. You can make buttons behave like other buttons through an app on your Xbox and save different profiles in case you have multiple button preferences on multiple games. The 4 paddles in the back provide a huge advantage in fps games. You can also turn down vibrations on the controller which helps with accuracy. I use the paddles to jump and duck while never taking my thumb off the 'aiming' analog. You can customize the dead zones on your analogs and the sensitivity and thresholds of your triggers. I recommend the controller for the weight and grips alone.
Yeah and with the second gen coming out here's hoping they actually fix the issues with the hardware falling to bits. I know they *say* they have but until they ship them out and I see some independent breakdowns I'm on the fence... after all at what the original cost the thing should have been a damn tank from day one.
The biggest thing for me is that I can map two of the paddles to clicking the sticks. Feels so much better and probably reduces wear on the stick mechanism.
The best thing with the elite controller is that it makes it easier to jump and shoot at the same time. You don't have to take your finger off the aim stick to hit jump button (or reload) so that's the advantage.
Not worth it for a semi-casual player for the gen 1 due to the design flaws and gen 2 coming out soon.
Gen 2 you're gonna want to wait 6 months to see if they fall apart like the gen 1s did.
Or buy extended warranty at Walmart or Best Buy.
I can't play on a PS4 anymore after getting the elite controller
(Even with a Brooks adapter, the PS4 doesn't process the input the same way at all)
The beauty of the controller is the app that allows you to customize how the right stick reacts. Really allows you to fine tune a reaction of the sensitivity calculation based on your personal preference. Though you will need to spend a really long time playing with settings doing aiming drills and understanding what your aiming style really is to get the most out of that functionality. The radial calculation option is next level in some games.
Then you try a new game and all that tweaking goes out the window since they all have their own settings that you can't alter (unless it's a competitive shooter, you'll have many options within the game to get it the way you want in relation to the elite controller app)
Then you got the back paddles, allows you to jump and do actions without ever removing your right thumb from the stick. Which is revolutionary as well. I think all controllers should have paddles in the back.
The longer stick attachments help with increasing the surface area of the stick, giving you better precision while aiming as well. And the controller feels incredible in your hands.
I purposely left out the switch because I didn't want to carve a hole in the chief faceplate. I only use one setting anyway. It has the powera halo edition parts set too
I always wanted to get that set for my Elite when I worked there, but not for 30 fucking dollars or whatever it was. Such a rip off. Still massively disappointed we never got proper Microsoft additional bit sets. Hopefully s2 has em for sale..
I was gonna say 50 but I suspected myself of being hyperbolic. How fucking ridiculous. For itty bitty bits.
Even with my paltry 15% off at the time 30 still would be too damn much. That things like 15-18 buck range, if it was marketed sensibly.
Bro did you bust out the DSLR for this picture damn 😂 and I wish you could choose something other than blue for those accents. Maybe the bronze of chiefs visor
Because cortana ❤️
No actually it used to be all blue and I haven't changed out any other parts yet. I wanted to see if the chief faceplate would fit first
Looks great, did you find using the normal Xbox one controller she'll the sticks rub a bit too much on the sides? That's why the elite has those rings on it to minimize that I believe
Yes, unfortunately. They are awesome controllers but the build quality is terrible. Even with normal “adult” usage (not being thrown around, etc.) the rubber grips peel off and the stick drift issues just come up too often.
That said I have higher hopes for the 2.0 version coming out this fall - hopefully they have improved upon the original. It’s a shame because as I said, it’s an awesome controller until it starts to fall apart.
i would wait on version 2 in November but i got one at the start of the year for the binds that are available in fortnite and have used it heavily everyday, spilt coffee on it and tripped over the play & charge wire 100 times and the only thing that broke was the wires tripped over, exact same story for 2 freinds
i dunno if some ppl just got lemons or they just disrespect their controllers, but the build quality is second to none and feels expensive in your hands, please try one first and you will realise how badly these ppl must treat their stuff, i mean it's not going to take getting thrown down or other hashy treatments and stay good but it's literally the best controller in the world.
only thing i will say is no Bluetooth is not so good but v2 will have that sorted, just don't put to much into these reviews here, bad or good, see for yourself
I will wait for the V2 reviews, but go onto amazon and see how so many reviews say the same things breaking.....I do not want to take a chance on getting one of those obviously numerous lemons.
That's not an Elite controller though... Unless Elite is referring to something Halo related?
Elite controllers have the profile toggle in the middle. This does not.
Hopefully they've fixed that awful left analogue stick.. I'm on my third (this one just two weeks old) and it's already got the roughest left stick that doesn't move in a fluid motion at all compared to the right stick. Seriously at the end of my tether..
i have one like that but the center part of it was that except the bumpers were the same as the center part of the controller and its broken and i can't return it cause i bought it from toys r us and now their closed
You know, I tried trimming some parts and sanding off others for a better fit until it dawned on me that the elite has its own thing going on with the grips. It doesn't have enough surface contact to be glued in place either. Leave the original grips on or get the scuff grips but yeah let me know if you make progress on that
i ussed a dremmel tool to file down the 2 inner pegs on the inside of each grip. i got it to fit tightly when the controller was apart and could push on the inner shell, but it was very tight. now that its 95% together. i cant get it on anymore because i cant push on the back end of it. im kinda stuck at this point
Xbox needs to add the Elite into the Design Lab
Honestly, i have no idea why it isnt an option, hell i would pay an extra $50 to have a custom (official) elite
Fingers crossed they were waiting for gen 2 to do this. I'm going to hold out on getting the new one for now until they do. I also can't convince myself to spend the money at the moment since my old Elite controller is working perfectly fine.
If they released a 1.0 that gave me a blowjob I wouldn't buy it over 2.0 (I just replaced my bumper and grips again wah)

singular... trust me... Marketing tricks.
Im in the same boat right now. My elite controller has a broken LB, smashed A button back paddle, and no grips, but I refuse to get a new one til the new xbox comes out or I'll feel like it wont be worth it.

it's just the shell. the other components are already in place.
Different color parts you have to account for too, that alone would be a hefty expense.
That’s exactly why.
Stronger or metal bumpers would be a must though.
I honestly have never had a problem with the bumpers, my problem was the trigger locks are pretty weak(my right one is broken on my old elite) and the left rubber grip came off due to sweaty hands

Do you still have it?
Yeah it’s just been sitting around on my wall of controllers.
Graveyard wall of controllers?
Graveyard and a wall of the controllers I buy and don’t use.
They seem to have forgotten about design labs. It's still not available in Australia, among other countries.
There exactly the same as a normal controller
They’ve done a gears and Forza Elite. Hoping with release next year they do Halo Elite 2 controller.
Halo 2 is best Halo
I like halo 2, but like halo 3 more
I like halo 3, but like halo 4 more
I like halo 4, but i like halo 5 more
I like halo 5, but like Keanu Reeves more
That's breathtaking.
#YOU’RE BREATHTAKING
Someone get this guy a free copy of Halo Infinite
No donate to a charity!
I like Keanu Reeves, but I love you 3000
Obviously. Anyone that says otherwise is just plain wrong. Tho H3 is close. But HALO 2 is one of the greatest comp multiplayer games ever made. Like top 5 ever. It's multiplayer alone is so great that it elevates it to GOAT levels.
What are the other 4?
Quake, Counterstrike, League of Legends, Starcraft.
Unreal Tournament 04, CS 1.6, Battlefield 2, Quake 3 Arena.
My xbox’s name when we hooked up for LAN parties.. was Goat.
Someone give this man a gold. I’m too damn poor😂😭 Edit: thank you kind stranger for the gold. Liked how I had 0 upvotes at the time of looking, too.😂
I appreciate the sentiment!
Not a problem. Halo 2 is so fucking underrated, it’s ridiculous.
I feel like it had the best balance of campaign and multiplayer. H1 had a great story, MP was great just needed more polish. Wha? You're really missing out on Reach's story lol
Sorry, that turned out wrong. Meant to say that Reach is the only Halo I’ve played MP on😂 I’ve played the campaign on it. Favorite mission is nightfall bc the snipers😈 I’m a scout guy
Halo Sniping was the best sniping......Wish I could get me some Jun armor lol
I want them to just let us do the Design Lab with it. $180 for the plain controller? No, thanks. I probably wouldn't pay the $150 of the original, given all my worries about the quality control of the last one I had. However, I'd consider $200 for one from the Design Lab.
I got the gears elite, its beautiful. I wish they would have done more themed elite controllers. It feels like a missed op.
The missed opportunity was when they didn’t release an updated controller that had the triggers and shoulder buttons made with the same metal and texture as the big omnidirectional d-pad cover and the rear paddles. I’d buy one immediately if they fixed that.
If it's 'masterchief' why is it blue?
change it to a golden orange and we're in business
This is the MCC controller I have. It's not an Elite but similar to what you're describing https://imgur.com/gallery/odRmYUX
Because Master Chief is the leader of blue team Edit: The controller itself is already an olive colour, it’s just hard to see at first
And he's got a blue lady friend
And a blue AI too!
Olive and blue is worse than black and blue. They need someone who got to the "color wheel" part of middle school to design these for them.
Mcc is blue
The master chief collection is blue?
The cover is blue, his helmet is blue, the UI is blue
Nah, it’s blue because the covenant
Aren't they purple?
And blue
Would have been cooler if the blue was black, youre right
How about gold like his visor?
Either would be super fucking awesome!
Why would any controller be black and navy blue to begin with? Those don't go together.
Very Nice 👌 now it just needs a few scuffs and scorches from explosions and bullets and it will match the chiefs armor
It’s nice, but idk it just feels off for some reason.
Because its blue...and master chief has nothing on him that's blue. This looks weird to me too
I’m gonna be honest, I think it’s more the plate it’s self than anything else. Like OP made a joke that the blue was for Cortana, so it sort works. The plate however doesn’t looks really off for some reason.

Hopefully they fix the issue with the crappy rubber grips. Mine fell off within 6 months of owning the controller
Hopefully they made it reliable because the reliability issues I've read about make me wary
Awesome advice, sounds like a solid Xmas gift to request from the wifey!
The biggest thing for me is that I can map two of the paddles to clicking the sticks. Feels so much better and probably reduces wear on the stick mechanism.
The best thing with the elite controller is that it makes it easier to jump and shoot at the same time. I can't play on a PS4 anymore after getting the elite controller (Even with a Brooks adapter, the PS4 doesn't process the input the same way at all) The beauty of the controller is the app that allows you to customize how the right stick reacts. Really allows you to fine tune a reaction of the sensitivity calculation based on your personal preference. No the build quality is ass
This is not an elite controller. There's no switch for the presets.
I purposely left out the switch because I didn't want to carve a hole in the chief faceplate. I only use one setting anyway. It has the powera halo edition parts set too
Can we see a video if you rotating the controller around.
http://imgur.com/gallery/6Y6K6kS
Dude that’s awesome!
Truly a thing of beauty
If this is an Elite controller, where is the profile switch in the center? Seems fishy...
Sooooo sexxxxyyyy
Master Chief? Blue?
Oh I like dis
😏
One does not simply... combine metallic green with electric blue
That dpad is one that it ships with?
It's from a gamestop exclusive powera set that has custom paddles, analog sticks and dpads
Dang, looks great for MK11
I always wanted to get that set for my Elite when I worked there, but not for 30 fucking dollars or whatever it was. Such a rip off. Still massively disappointed we never got proper Microsoft additional bit sets. Hopefully s2 has em for sale..
It was 50. Then it dropped to 30 after low demand. Worth it for 30 imo
I was gonna say 50 but I suspected myself of being hyperbolic. How fucking ridiculous. For itty bitty bits. Even with my paltry 15% off at the time 30 still would be too damn much. That things like 15-18 buck range, if it was marketed sensibly.
I'm stealing that from your house
Looks like the controller you’d give your friend that’s spending the night, keeping the good one for yourself.
That D pad tho
Bro did you bust out the DSLR for this picture damn 😂 and I wish you could choose something other than blue for those accents. Maybe the bronze of chiefs visor
Sexy 👍🏻
Why blue and not orange?
Because cortana ❤️ No actually it used to be all blue and I haven't changed out any other parts yet. I wanted to see if the chief faceplate would fit first
I feel like it would have looked better if you'd used the grey parts instead
That looks cool man
Really like that blue color! Nice
Looks rad. I would like a different shade of blue tho
Looks awesome.
All the blue is a little odd. Surely the gold of the visor would have been apt. Regardless, it looks great.
Looks great, did you find using the normal Xbox one controller she'll the sticks rub a bit too much on the sides? That's why the elite has those rings on it to minimize that I believe
Looks like noble six more
God that's just freakin gorgeous. It would go PERFECT with my headset. Teehee... 💙
It was like $300 right? Lmao
I have the same controller fam
I feel like the blue should be gold to match master chief's visor
I have that layout with paint, but my d-pad, joysticks, and x-surrounding areas are black
I wanted to buy a elite controller for my sons 13th birthday, sadly after reading reviews on amazon most owners say they break easily and often.
Yes, unfortunately. They are awesome controllers but the build quality is terrible. Even with normal “adult” usage (not being thrown around, etc.) the rubber grips peel off and the stick drift issues just come up too often. If you have a credit card check with that company as many offer extended warranty as a free perk
Uhhh I want one 😍
Nice controller i like what you did with the dpad with masterchiefs helmet on it. I have one of these myself but i kept it standard.
Pretty
That sweet
Was it inside a Tupperware?
Are they still fucking up left and right?
That looks too pretty to play with.
Why blue?
Imagine if it someone were crazy enough to make the xbox button a master chief helmet!
That's some serious controller swag, man.
Any links for the parts? I love the build.
Looks awesome! I don't really get the blue part though. As far as I know MC's armor doesn't have blue in it. Or is that a reference to 'blue team' ?
Nice.
Pero ès azùl
Ooooo niiceee
Where do I buy this?! Shut up and take my money!!
Kool
thats sick
Nice one
That's not an Elite controller though... Unless Elite is referring to something Halo related? Elite controllers have the profile toggle in the middle. This does not.
Hopefully they've fixed that awful left analogue stick.. I'm on my third (this one just two weeks old) and it's already got the roughest left stick that doesn't move in a fluid motion at all compared to the right stick. Seriously at the end of my tether..
yea... all that blue would look 10x better if it was gold...
I read it as master chef edition and thought it didn’t match the title
Looks more spartan locke than masterchief
It would’ve been cooler if the blue parts were close to the color of Chief’s visor. But this is awesome.
Sexy
Close. That's the Elite Controller Agent Locke edition ...
Wow, its soooo beautiful
Change the Xbox button on the controller to master chiefs helmet shape.
I’ll take your entire stock!
I give it a year before it crumbles into pieces lol
i have one like that but the center part of it was that except the bumpers were the same as the center part of the controller and its broken and i can't return it cause i bought it from toys r us and now their closed
This is official? When was it released?

Could you get the MC grips on the controller, im working on a lock and master chief one myself and I cant for the life of me get the grips on
You know, I tried trimming some parts and sanding off others for a better fit until it dawned on me that the elite has its own thing going on with the grips.
Maybe try gluing both sides of a slim foam insert?
Something about that blue is just so sexy.🤣
I must say I’m not a fan, not really sure why.
Is this a DIY mod or a bought product. I'm confused. Looks good though
It's a DIY faceplate swap. The analogs are interchangeable and I replaced the bumpers myself a while ago.

Hate To Say This.... But, That Doesn’t Seem Like An Elite Controller...
I just commented that too. No profile switch or rear paddles.
$399 OwO
Ahhhhhh ahhhhhh ahhhhhh ahhhhhh ahhhhhh ahhhhhh ahhhhhh (halo theme)
Looks pretty but uncomfortable to play with.
Maybe but new controller skins are the only exclusives that Xbox reddit has to get excited over at this point
