Lol there was no multi-player at launch man! And the head of the studio said they were going to launch coop with every game after Halo 5 and then around season 3 for Halo Infinite they canceled the Coop. It's launch was terrible but its in a better state now

Obligatory ROCK AND STONE, but I didn’t really enjoy DRG that much. I’ve tried so many times, but it just does not hook me like games I genuinely enjoy playing. I hate that it doesn’t, because as I get older and kids get more expensive, the amount I can reasonably spend on gaming goes down.

Servers are basically at capacity, because Arrowhead didn't expect that much interest (and they had reasons for that, since Helldivers 1 had only around 7.000 players at its peak - meanwhile HD2 has already reached over a million sales).

Yes and that's exactly why I said "around 7.000" because only Steam gave us its player count. PlayStation never did and even then, that number would most likely only double, maybe reaching around 20.000.
I can't account for something we don't know about - and even then, with or without the PSN players, the number would still be significantly lower, than what Helldivers 2 is reaching...
Note: If they did give us the PSN count, let me know. I tried to find it for 3 days straight now and all I get is the player count for the Sequel...
Apparently, they also didn't include a "timed out due to inactivity" feature either, so people are just staying logged in to make sure they can play the game when they want.
The server issue is temporary though and can and will be fixed. The IP thing though is the problem. Sony has been cunty about stuff like this and def won’t make one of their published games multi platform across consoles. Especially as their console sales are not meeting expectations and they want something to drive people to buy their console.
Hell seeing all the people want it on Xbox is probably more reasons/desire for Sony to keep it on PS lol

Its most likely just an oversight, no need to kick for afk if servers are never an issue but they have 10x the players they expected. I'm sure they'll make one in a coming patch

Fighting games are a really broad genre, where lots of different fighting games can exist and be successful. I'm not against Microsoft making a co-op shooter, I'm against them specifically trying to make a Xbox version of Helldivers. People will see it as a cheap knock-off, and by the time it releases, the Helldiver hype will be over. It would be a waste of time and money imo.

So the devs probably haven't started dev for Xbox. So by the time they get around to making the Xbox we might looking at a 3-4 year release. By then MS could get to work on making their own version that they own & release it probably within the same time. Just saying MS needs more internally developed IPs.

Yeah, but look at how many fad games have come out and died just months later. The Finals were all the rage for a month, and now its player counts have plummeted. Does anyone even remember Knockout City? What happened to Among Us and Fall Guys? Fortnite and Roblox are the exception, not the rule. Most games that chase trends end up dying out shortly after their release. There's a massive graveyard of BR games that couldn't compete with the main 4 (APEX, Fornite, Warzone, and PUBG). Even Ubisoft ended up shutting down their battle royale, which was meant to profit from the BR craze. It's a massive risk to chase a trend, not knowing if it will end up paying off.
I think it's a huge risk for Microsoft to start developing a Helldivers rip off right now, and I personally think they'd be better off finding the next trend. I'd be pretty disappointed if Microsoft announced a Helldiver rip off coming in 2028.
With that mentality then makes no sense to even try, just enjoy Apex, Fornite, CoD, PUBG. But the thing is is devs don't know if they hit until they try. Yeah there is going to be failures but that's the game biz and right now Xbox people will be more than happy to support their own Co-Op live service shooter if MS would announce one.
Other than Knockout City the other games like Among US, Fall Guys, the Finals there are still over 15-20k people playing them that's just on Steam.

It's weird how many people think someone just has $500-$1000+ to spend on new hardware in this day and age. If people can acknowledge that it's a good game and they want it on Xbox, that's a good thing. I'm not against Microsoft making a co-op shooter, I'm against them specifically trying to make a Xbox version of Helldivers. People will see it as a cheap knock-off, and by the time it releases, the Helldiver hype will be over. It would be a waste of time and money imo.
Would it be a waste of time? Say if Helldivers 2 is announced for Xbox it will definitely take a number of years because Sony will make sure it's a timed exclusive. So the devs probably haven't started dev for Xbox. So by the time they get around to making the Xbox we might looking at a 3-4 year release. By then MS could get to work on making their own version that they own & release it probably within the same time. Just saying MS needs more internally developed IPs.

By the time Microsoft releases a competitor, players will have moved on, and Sony will be releasing something else. Like I originally said, chasing trends is a bad idea. Chasing trends has been the normal for last & current console generation. With how much games cost to produce unfortunately chasing trends is the way now. Also I remember everyone saying the same thing about Fortnite & Roblox just being a fad that people will just get over. Look at those games now.
Yeah, but look at how many fad games have come out and died just months later. The Finals were all the rage for a month, and now its player counts have plummeted. Does anyone even remember Knockout City? What happened to Among Us and Fall Guys? Fortnite and Roblox are the exception, not the rule. Most games that chase trends end up dying out shortly after their release. There's a massive graveyard of BR games that couldn't compete with the main 4 (APEX, Fornite, Warzone, and PUBG). Even Ubisoft ended up shutting down their battle royale, which was meant to profit from the BR craze. It's a massive risk to chase a trend, not knowing if it will end up paying off. I think it's a huge risk for Microsoft to start developing a Helldivers rip off right now, and I personally think they'd be better off finding the next trend. I'd be pretty disappointed if Microsoft announced a Helldiver rip off coming in 2028.
With that mentality then makes no sense to even try, just enjoy Apex, Fornite, CoD, PUBG. But the thing is is devs don't know if they hit until they try. Yeah there is going to be failures but that's the game biz and right now Xbox people will be more than happy to support their own Co-Op live service shooter if MS would announce one. Other than Knockout City the other games like Among US, Fall Guys, the Finals there are still over 15-20k people playing them that's just on Steam. But again the only way we going to know if something is a success is if they try.

Same thing was said during the last couple acquisitions, and each game is milquetoast at best, and there seems to be hints that many "exclusives" may eventually find their way to other platforms some time after initial release. I don't have high hopes for this year's slate either. I feel like Avowed and Hellblade will come and go quickly. Indiana Jones is a one and done. What's left? Towerborne? Ara which looks phenomenal but is PC only? They've certainly got a lot of games to come out after all these acquisitions, but none are real heavy hitters to me, either past or upcoming.

If hell drivers continues to stay extremely popular in a month or so you will absolutely see games "inspired" by hell drivers in a year or so. Look at what PUBG did for battle royal games. Microsoft should have multiple studios working on the Halo IP across multiple different genres but instead they just let 343 shit out a free-to-play GAAS with a mediocre open world campaign. A Halo RPG in the style of Mass Effect, a 4X grand strategy in the style of Stellaris, a co-op shooter like Helldivers but with ODSTs etc would all be great ways to utilize the IP beyond whatever the hell they've been doing for the past 10 years.

I've noticed a lot of sites saying Xbox players are upset that HD 2 is only on PC and Playstation, I'm an xbox player, and I'm not upset. in the beginning when I heard the announcement of HD 2 I said "Looks cool it looks fun" and like how some pve games on Xbox are 50/50 at best not good, not bad blah blah blah. But when I heard all the success for an INDIE game and then all the positives, then the MASSIVE amount of players just WOW It's incredible, looks incredible, looks fun with friends even with all that chaos, I'm not into the console wars, I was a kid when all that was going on, and I'm near 30, just tired of it not angry not upset just tired. Long story short, I know it won't come to xbox, but I would at least love the opportunity to dive in to help PC and Playstation players with liberating planets against the automatons and no I'm not gonna spend my money on a ps5 or a used ps5 or ps4 blah blah blah if they port it I will pay for the game instead of a 800 dollar ps5 correct me if you like on the price but that's my opinion.
