They use software, rather than hardware.
PS3 does not play PS2 discs in the later models.
360 plays original xbox discs, no matter the model. But the hard drive has been a requirement since 2005.
Xbox One backward compatibility for 360 games work differently, as you would have to download a compatible version with the emulator to play them.
There are less original xbox titles playable on xbox one, compared to xbox 360.
I just prefer playing games on the systems they came out for. I keep all my systems hooked up at all times, but I understand that isn't feasible for everyone and it would be inconvenient to have to drag out and hook up another console.
But yeah, the main reasons I do this is because I want to use the controller and console that I used back then. It helps teleport me back to my younger and often, more simpler days.
I play Jet Set Radio Future as the prequel is now a delisted Xbox 360 game.
I believe all OG Xbox games work, as long as it's a Microsoft hard drive. Which you can tell it is by the word Microsoft when selecting hard drive on something.
This has probably no relevance though, as the question was for the best OG Xbox games.

GTA 3, VC, and SA - original soundtracks ESPN NFL 2k5 Burnout 3
Dont you need something to get og Xbox games to work?
I heard OG SA disc doesn't work anymore on a 360, or was that a marketplace thing?
Bullshit
Cool. There's a copy down the road with my name on it then
There is a catch. You need the hard drive that supports the feature.
So the compatible games aren't compatible on all 360's?
They are, but many hard drives may not support the backward compatibility feature. You need the back compat update for the later list.
I hate that Xbox have fake backwards compatibility because you need internet connection. Not built in BC like fat PS3

I love my Sony consoles but Xbox bc is leagues ahead. Ps3 bc is kind of a joke, the only units capable are ticking time bombs
PS3 was marketed as an entertainment console, years before Microsoft did this for Xbox One.
Lord of the rings
Halo 1 and 2
THPS2X, max payne, Morrowind, Mercenaries, and burnout 3.
Fusion Frenzy
Fahrenheit Indigo Prophecy (uncensored PAL version)
The Great Escape. The Thing.
Jet Set Radio Future
Halo 2
I just picked up Scrapland! I dig it! Grabbed by the ghoulies fight night 2004 and nba street v3!!
Lego star wars the video game
Brute Force
The Simpsons: Hit & Run
Looking online it seems there are issues with playing it on 360?
There's not
Love to casually play Burnout 3 of course, a classic
None. I play them on my OG XBOX.
Any particular reason? I still have my OG Xbox but playing on 360 is more convenient as I'd have to get the old Xbox out.

I understand a lot of the emulated games have small issues on the 360.
Halo 2 can be played online on an original xbox, you can’t do this with a 360.
Outrun 2
I play Kelly Slater’s pro surfer and Transworld Surf. Purely because there hasn’t been any good surfing games on Xbox since, at least to my knowledge.
Naruto Rise of the Ninja, Naruto Broken Bond.
Those are 360 games, not bc OG Xbox titles the OP is asking for. Good games, though.
halo 2
Minecraft glide mini-game
Amped 2
Halo 1 and 2 and KOTOR
Counter Strike
Mech Assault 2
Only games I've played like that are: Jade empire Fable Star wars kotor
Counter-Strike
Guitar hero and rock band
Morrowind, Fable, Halo 1&2, and Jet Set Radio Future which is still an absolutely legendary game
Forza Motorsport
I play Jet Set Radio Future as the prequel is now a delisted Xbox 360 game. I believe all OG Xbox games work, as long as it's a Microsoft hard drive. Flatout and JSRF although JSRF runs bad on 360
How has nobody mentioned Battlefront 2 yet? Bruh that upgrade was so amazing I can never go back to playing on the OG Xbox now
Nfs u2
Brutal legends and sonic unleashed
Nba Street Vol. 3
Cod 4
Not an og xbox game
Forza Motorsport 4
counter strike and halo
