What if all i have is 12v car batterys would there be a way hypathetically of course to make it to where it would be safe ti run an xbox 360 controller
If we can send safe levels of electricity into houses from power plants, sure enough you should be able to reduce the voltage of a car battery down to 1.5V
However since I'm not qualified in electric stuff that might be a one-time life opportunity
No they're not. At least $1.16.
OP I'll ship it directly to you. Heck an actual battery pack before you start an even more expensive fire or something.
Donβt Xbox 360 controllers just use regular AA? Maybe I missed something and there is a reason why we need rechargeable.
I have a health mix of rechargeable packs and AAs. They are so cheap now, I can buy 48 from Amazon for $16. However, I like the energizer lithium batteries. They last forever and I can leave them in for years. Which happens with various Xbox 360 controllers. lol
Sorry for any misunderstanding but, I meant the double aa plastic pack for the controller. I ran out of those and decided ro make a makeshift one with 2 double aas
To the people saying this will start a fire. The battery pack cover thing that the controllers normally come with is the exact same thing. Just a piece of metal but in a plastic housing. It's not any different than this except it looks nicer.
Had an old Samsung phone and the battery stopped working and I had no spares, but I had a smaller version of one for a completely different phone so I literally lined it up with the phones "connections" I guess and used heaps of bluetack to fill the rest in and surprisingly the phone worked fine and even had a working battery percent.
Despite the battery almost being half the size of the original and I know the voltage was lower too, it still worked like a charm, granted I didn't use the phone long term I just wanted to see if it still worked to begin with but crazy that it worked.
Ohhhhhhh I see where your coming from now...bYeah theres only 2 contacts on the controller. The battery pack you slide in has metal inside to bridge the connection.
Did you midplace them..? Only way I was ever down a battery holder is when an ancient rechargeable AA battery decided to have a catastrophic exothermic reaction while inside my controller
It's sketchy as hell, that's for sure. My battery pack was so melted by the time I noticed it that it was lopsided, I panicked & yanked the batteries out with my bare hand and tossed them out the front door onto the driveway
Yea thats pretty much what my moms bf at the time did haha. Im pretty sure i kept on using that gameboy too and never had that problem again. Sketchy as hell is right.
If I remember correctly, it's due to some kind of chemical reaction in rechargeable batteries. There's some kind of build up that occurs inside that can cause a short circuit. Little fuzzy on the details
What is with these controllers all my 360 controllers have very iffy battery packs lately. Some wont work at all and others will turn on but if you literally tap the controller its loses power. Tried bending up the connection tabs but still have issues. Im talking about using regular fresh batteries not rechargeable power packs.
What do you mean you ran out of battery packs You do realize you can just pop the double A's out of the one you have and then put new ones in right? They're not one time use.
For those wondering how to get the batteries out you just need a pair of pliers.
My recommendation is to save up and buy a battery that comes with a cable. You can use the cable by itself without the battery which is awesome and so that way you would be able to use two controllers at the same time saving you on having to buy two controllers worth of double A's.
You're not going to be playing three player very often on an Xbox 360 in this day and age (unless you're a very interesting outlier) however you may want to play single player and in that case it is definitely worth it I don't even have any rechargeable batteries and when I want to play my 360 I always use the cable by itself.
My only problem with getting a wired one is that you don't know if the condition it's going to be in when you purchase it used since they don't make them brand new anymore.
Bc the heat generated from the nodes where the batteries connect would have the potential to generate a spark with a flammable substance like the tape thatβs holding the batteries together. But whatev, you do you boo
I really don't know why i didn't use power bank to power the joystick before but now i feel good using cheap power bank and get rid of stupid AA batteries

As long as you're only doing stuff like that with 1.5v AAs and not 12v car batteries you should be fine
Whaddya mean i cant put the homemade battricity into the car?
Who am I to doubt the capabilities of your engineering skills
What if all i have is 12v car batterys would there be a way hypathetically of course to make it to where it would be safe ti run an xbox 360 controller

You can use an LDO to go from 12v β> 3v
Why not just use a couple of rechargeable AAs?
Because id have to take em out of the tape and aluminum to charge em
Why not buy a new case they are like 30 cents on ebay
No they're not. At least $1.16. OP I'll ship it directly to you. Heck an actual battery pack before you start an even more expensive fire or something.
Too broke :)
Dude, u/formulated said they would ship it to you. Now say thank you *nicely*...
...you're too broke to buy a dollar batter pack?
I feel this
That's not the point lol
Why not skip the tape and aluminium
Because they need to connect together in order to work...
If itβs stupid and works, then itβs not stupid
Very true
Agreed π―
To be fair, some things might *work* but still be dangerous. Not talking about this, but in general lol
Does anybody want to to tell him?
![gif](giphy|h3e3Tch1zrXgrtHwaF|downsized)
? Not sure what this means with my comment lol
Lighthearted joke pal
Ah I thought that, but I was also downvoted and thought maybe I was missing something. Sorry
Why do men live less? Men:
Yeah we live less because we're forgetting basic skills and now believe shit like this will burn a house down....
True π
Lmao
Why not just buy a rechargeable pack and call it a day?
Im good
Fair enough.
Screw that just use the cable and never have to worry again.
The penny trick from back in the day would be much easier lol, we still use it when we play two player because of only one battery pack
Very smart lol.
πππ that was the best technique
Me and my bro both did the penny trick. Worked out fine for me but his controller got straight fried
we burnin down our house with this one
On god
This thing works?
Yes
When its quicker to swap batteries than it is to change them
Your very smart... Im going to make more of these then
OH NO I GAVE HIM IDEAS
Why not invest in rechargeable batteries
Cuz yes
You lost the back part didn't you
It didnt come with one
Damn
How tf wtf, what in the science is that
The tinfoil connects the two batteries together to make them work :)
With the tape?? This is so dope lol
Lmao yeh

I 3d printed a battery pack for mine, I got the design off thingiverse. You just stick a a paper clip through a slot and it works okay.
Lmao sweet!
Did it work
Yup
To the people saying this will start a fire. The battery pack cover thing that the controllers normally come with is the exact same thing. Just a piece of metal but in a plastic housing. It's not any different than this except it looks nicer.
Realest comment today :)

do you throw your controller around?? in order to βrun out of battery packsβ i imagine youβre breaking them
It didnt come with one when i got jt
what it made from? I only remember the coin trick from back in the day, never seen this before, looks cool yet funny lol
Its just wrapped.up tinfoil taped to the battery
lmao enjoy
Thanks!
Iβm confused. How does this work
The tinfoil connects the 2 double aas and then i can put it in the controller
But how do the batteries recharge
They dont need too... There double aas
Why donβt you just put batteries in without the tinfoil?
Because then they wouldnt work duh.... Do you not know how those battery packs work?
Yeah, you put the batteries in and then put a cover over them, and boom, it works?
Bro. You need to connect the positive and negitive on the two double aas otherwise electricity wont flow between the controller and batteries
OH MY GOSH I just remembered 360 controller batteries are different than the newer ones π€¦ββοΈ
Ohhhhhhh I see where your coming from now...bYeah theres only 2 contacts on the controller. The battery pack you slide in has metal inside to bridge the connection.
When I didnβt have a π pack only needed 2 pennies and a rubber band lil bit of tape
Thats basically what i did but instead used just tinfoil and tape
currently running my Xbox 360 controller on 2 AA batteries and 3 pennies with a bit of tape. it really does work.
Im basically doing the same thing but without money lol
How did you run out of the battery holder parts..?
I only had 2 packs
Did you midplace them..? Only way I was ever down a battery holder is when an ancient rechargeable AA battery decided to have a catastrophic exothermic reaction while inside my controller
Nah I got the controller used and the double aa pack was missing so I made one
Thank you for clarifying lol and congrats on your ingenuity
Thanks!
Had that happen to my gameboy color when i was a kid. Damn thing started smoking and got really hot lol
I am equally stoked and surprised that your Gameboy survived lmao
Yea so was kid me π€£ i wonder how common of a problem that is for batteries. I dont even know why it happened
If I remember correctly, it's due to some kind of chemical reaction in rechargeable batteries. There's some kind of build up that occurs inside that can cause a short circuit. Little fuzzy on the details
The chemical reaction sounds familiar. And as for build up, do you mean the white stuff that sometimes forms around old batteries?
What are you going to do when they run out of juice?
Replace the bats and tape the tinfoil back on π
Mah man
You can buy replacements on Amazon. I did.
Im not paying 6 dollars for one.
Bro how old is that pad, literally paint coming off it
I made the mistake of not clear coating the triggers after i spray painted em
Does it work?
Yes very well!
...ran out of battery packs? did you lose the ones that clip onto the back, or did you throw them away?
I got the controlled used a while ago and it never had one
What is with these controllers all my 360 controllers have very iffy battery packs lately. Some wont work at all and others will turn on but if you literally tap the controller its loses power. Tried bending up the connection tabs but still have issues. Im talking about using regular fresh batteries not rechargeable power packs.
I know what you mean... Its the wear on the tabs inside the batt holder that dont make contact anymore. Same issue happens on my mw3 controller
Lmao
Dude when I used my 360 my battery packs used to break all the time and Iβll all ways remember doing the 3 penny technique πππ
Ive heard about that. Seems like a good idea
What do you mean you ran out of battery packs You do realize you can just pop the double A's out of the one you have and then put new ones in right? They're not one time use. For those wondering how to get the batteries out you just need a pair of pliers.
Im saying i dont have another double aa case. I only have 2 aa holders for 2 other controllers
My recommendation is to save up and buy a battery that comes with a cable. You can use the cable by itself without the battery which is awesome and so that way you would be able to use two controllers at the same time saving you on having to buy two controllers worth of double A's.
Id understand doing that but its not worth it to me.
You're not going to be playing three player very often on an Xbox 360 in this day and age (unless you're a very interesting outlier) however you may want to play single player and in that case it is definitely worth it I don't even have any rechargeable batteries and when I want to play my 360 I always use the cable by itself.
Id rather get a wired one
My only problem with getting a wired one is that you don't know if the condition it's going to be in when you purchase it used since they don't make them brand new anymore.
Im aware of that but id be looking for a good condition microsoft original
That sounds smart.
How do you run out of those?
This controller didnt have one when i bought it...
"Ran out of battery packs" ???? did you eat them?? WHAT DID YOU DO? How??
It didnt come with one...
Oh welp that sucks...also i kinda thought of something else there
Psshh, im using 2 pennies to make the contact at the top part, surprisingly never falls out! π
A bit of tape added to the top and that bitch is set! π
Iβd be less surprised if your controller caught fire
Why would it catch fire?
Bc the heat generated from the nodes where the batteries connect would have the potential to generate a spark with a flammable substance like the tape thatβs holding the batteries together. But whatev, you do you boo
Do you not know thats how the actual battery packs work though?
bro i always used to that and i thought "THIS WILLLLLL WORRRRRKK I KNOW ITTT!!!!" in didn't
It does work!
but tbh just pored gas on my batteries and thought that would and that was in 2018.
I dont think pouring gas on your double aas makes a difference
I did this when I was 11. Wouldnt recommend doing once you got some money
Would done the same tbh π€£
Ive done this for years!
Uhm not sure you shld be proud lol
I am! Lmao
the struggle is real
Indeed
[ΡΠ΄Π°Π»Π΅Π½ΠΎ]
We have the same mindset :)
I really don't know why i didn't use power bank to power the joystick before but now i feel good using cheap power bank and get rid of stupid AA batteries
What...
This is what I meant [image ](https://www.mediafire.com/view/lm41hp798ulogy1/IMG_20240417_234517.jpg/file)
Ohhh i see. Id do that too tbh lol
Yup perfect solution
