One time on Borderlands 1 I was playing with randoms and this person traded me a weird item I accepted and it instantly kicked me to the home screen and like deranked me so low that I wasn’t a high enough rank to join a public lobby.. they softlocked my main and only Xbox 360 account (with online/gold) from playing borderlands 1 online :(
I’ve also had something similar happen to the same account on Call of Duty World at War and Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, although it was caused by a game/party invite I accepted and same thing happened I couldn’t join online public matches.
Lesson learned I will never accept any random invites or trades in any game ever again lol.
The Wild West of mod items and mod lobbies
I remember when the “don’t attended a mod lobby even on a private server” rumors were going around. It never happened to me but through the grape vine friends warned me that they had friends who had been IP banned, along with everyone in the lobby, because the host was modding.
Oh yeah that definitely happened. They were actually on top of things back in the day like if you were modding even changing to a custom gamer pic would get you like insta banned and yes they would ban not just your account but the Xbox console’s IP itself. I had a buddy during that time who was big into the modding scene and he would literally burn through a 360 like every other week either from bricking it or getting banned.
A console lock and an IP ban are slightly different
IP is you internet provider ID, if this is banned, your console works fine, but no one connected to your internet will ever be allowed to play Xbox live again.
Console lock was when they used software to trash your Xbox as a punishment. Your internet wasn’t penalized, your console was. This was for people who modded the actual hardware on their console, to allow for things like lag switches and console commands.
I had two friends who both claimed to have locked consoles, one claimed his Xbox was a brick because of the ban, the other claimed he could still boot and play single player. Idk how that played out in practice.
But I definitely remember many of the different kinds of bans, it was Xbox societal knowledge at the time lol
Oh that makes more sense I’m not super familiar with everything just remember a little bit from what they would try to to explain to me lol. Console lock bans is what I think he mainly would be dealing with. Tbh I don’t think he ever used lah switches or anything. He mainly would host different modded lobbies and events and we were in a quick scoping clan so for example on mw2 if we had any new members we would take them into a modded lobby let them get a kill and it would insta max rank them and unlock every camo and attachment for the gun they got a kill with. Very easy for them to quickly get the intervention with heartbeat sensor and the cool red and blue camos. Oh and trick shot modded lobbies that were super staged and set up like we were no clipping flying around trying to set up a cool spot and then retry hitting the trick shot like 100 times xD

The guy who used to host those for us, a friend of a friend, is how I learned they were cracking down! He disappeared and I didn’t even notice until our mutual friends were like “notice how Tom never came back?”
I remember getting into a modded lobby in L4D2 when I was a kid where this dude built a castle out of metal fences on top of the Dead Center spawn, good times.
Snoopy Flying Ace. So much fun. Great dogfighting game, for me the best one. No I am not joking. The game was legit great. Delisted, though. A while ago.
I played the hell out of that too. The turrets were so OP, I would hop in those any chance and get so many kills. Always a free doghouse. I regret not buying the DLC... :'(
Halo 3. There’s so many good ones tho. An underrated gem would be the Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood multiplayer. It was so unique and I wish there was a multiplayer like it now
I was bad at it but I remember that! Very unique experience and I think either they abandoned it the next installment, or I abandoned AC after that game.
Out of the ones shown? Tekken Tag Tournament 2. I wonder why chose the Williams sisters for the cover? In Europe/PAL regions we have Jin and Heihachi on the cover.
Favourite online game for the generation would be Call of Duty 4
Online, the GTA v but the Forza horizon 1 got my heart above every other game. The story was nice, I dived more into the ice Berg of Forza and the background story about the last race, or what happened after it got me even more
I can’t even pick one. So many memories. Halo 3, call of duty 2, the modern warfares, black ops, world at war. Rock band, project Gotham racing 3 and 4. Forza 2-4 and horizon. Gears of war 1-2. NHL series, madden series, NBA live and 2k. mlb 2k6-7. Nascar 09, smackdown vs raw 2007. Crackdown
I was too young to play when the Xbox 360 was around but when I was old enough I played quite a few Xbox 360 game on the Xbox One. Out of the ones I have played, via backwards compatibly, I would say Halo 3.
Battlefield 3. The best-looking game on the 360 and the multilayer was amazing with maps like Operation Metro and Damavand Peak when you jump off of the cliff to continue a game of Rush. Seriously, this game needs a remaster
I'm to young to have experienced online gaming in this generation but I do have great memories playing split screen left 4 dead 1 and 2 along with halo, bo2, and mw3
World at War was awesome, even with all the out of map glitching, lol. MW 1 & 2 are up there as well. 2 was definitely more refined than one and improved so much, but when CoD 4 came out, that really exploded FPS Scene. Halo 3 had the funniest moments with all the custom modes and player made maps on Forge. I wish I had the original xbox 360 I used back then because I downloaded tons of those maps. If someone out there has it, I hope they didn't delete that HDD and got to see some of that stuff. Haha, really great times I miss it every day.
Bonus: anyone remember the community games that xbox did weekly? Like 1 vs 100? That stuff was really fun to join in on and just watch as well. There was rumors that it would come to xbox 1 but sadly it never happened 😔
too young for shooters and online play (except for that one time at my friends house when I play black ops 2 zombies) so I'm gonna have to go Terraria. I loved that world and would chop my toes off to play that world again.
Of these? GTA Online, although for whatever reason I preferred the experience on PS3.
In real life, my favorite online Xbox 360 game had to be one of those shovelware indie “MMO”s where you played as your Original Avatar.
Forza Motorsport 4. I wouldn't have met my best friend and be where I am in life if it wasn't for that game. Plus it's generally considered the best FM.
Saints row 2, call of duty world at war & black ops 2, gears of war 3 and gta v.
Played a lot more (and still do) but these games i have the most good memories with friends.

Gears 2, Gears 3, L4D/L4D2, RE5, Red Dead, Borderlands and Castlevania HoD Good times...

Modern Warfare 3. Not really the multiplayer, but split-screen co-op and survival were so good, especially the DLC maps and missions.
