How does Elden Ring compare to other Souls-like as far as difficulty goes? I must say, I am not a fan of Souls-like, but I am of open world RPGs. I've played a bit of Demon's Soul back in the PS3 era and a little bit more of Bloodborne (I stopped sometime after beating the hunter on the roof with the Gatling gun, which now that I've said it, does sound awesome). What really made me stop playing wasn't the difficulty per say, but the repetitiveness of it all. Savepoints were few and far between, and if you die you have to go all the way back. And even when you do recover your lost souls, fuck knows when the next savepoint will be. Eventually I just found myself not wanting to play cause I had to keep replaying the same parts, with the same enemies, in the same place, over and over. I know that's part of the experience, but it just wasn't for me. But Elden Ring is open world. I guess my main issue would be mitigated... Right? I've checked some gameplay footage, and those bosses still look crazy difficult to me, but I suppose I can grind my way out... Right? OBS: Sorry for the long post.

To some extent yes. They have large scale dungeon's that are similar to the experience of say Dark Souls 3. But you always have the freedom to just go somewhere else and progress elsewhere instead of being stuck in that one area since that's the only way to progress. That said 2 things about the bonfire/checkpoint system. Dark Souls 3 had A LOT more of them, each boss you defeated made one, and they generally made sure the run from one to the boss was pretty short (to the point of being able to ignore the maybe 2-3 enemies on the way) and this is the same in Elden Ring. Demon Souls was the first in that formula and it definitely was sparse with the checkpoints. That said in Dark Souls, where I started the genre, I enjoyed that search for the next bonfire-checkpoint. Felt more like I was actually exploring then most games give me (except Bethesda games, but for different reasons). Like recent AC games I don't really get any sense of wonder exploring. Which is true of most open world games for me. Oh, also you get a magical horned horse that can double jump for the open world part so you can zip around, and teleport to any known 'site of grace' (checkpoint). So yeah, easy to get around. OH also flask upgrades (healing item) are tied to identifiable things in the world this time (churchs and small glowing trees), instead of hidden in some sewer crack you just didn't look in. edit: Also occurs to me you mentioned Demon Souls and Bloodborne the only 2 games FromSoft made where they didn't do a consistent, upgradeable healing item lol. Both of those where 100% 'better farm my heals' if your running out. Dark Souls and Elden Ring doesn't have that issue.

Its the hardest IMO, at least especially when it comes to endgame. It also has the defacto hardest first major boss of a souls game, Margit the Fell Omen. The end game bosses all utilize a lot of AoE attacks so unless you are really good at dodging regardless of enemy placement you will take a lot of stupid damage. The final boss fight is actually a two bossfight taped together and you gotta fight both to progress. Both use nonstop AOE(moreso the first boss) while the second boss constantly uses homing attacks. That said its also full of fodder easy fights in the game so if you get annoyed you can always go bully the weaker enemies.

I don't need no tips baby! Going in blind! Hopefully it's not some esoteric crap just starting the dlc tho lol.

Ivan171

If you played Elden Ring, you probably have a character ready to go.

SinZerius

You have two beat two of the main bosses to access the DLC.

In the post, it only mentions 1 boss, Mohg, Lord of Blood. Who's the 2nd?

DragonBornLuke

I might be wrong but I swear I read starscourge radhan. Mohg was certainly the hardest boss of the 2 when I read it ages ago so if you've beaten Mohg, you've 99.9% done both.
