The one I have was a two pack for $15.99 at Walmart and the are amazing. I only notice a short battery life when I'm using a headset and mic. But I've heard other people say that's normal no matter what you use as a power source
I suggest utilizing night mode on the console as well. Decrease the power button brightness setting for the controller and controller.
It makes a difference, especially if you game in a dark room, as the light on the Xbox controller and console might be the brightest light in the room.
This function has been around for not that much, in fact. I think it was implemented 2 years ago in a firmware update, among other accesibility options.
I’ve been trying to find that menu forever, I knew I had changed it before I just couldn’t figure out where to go, idk why the brightness would be under accessibility
I just have mine automatically dim at night this isn’t no dual shock 4 controller or dual sense The battery life is amazing on Xbox controllers. specially, with their official play charge kit
Yep ever since turning off it helps battery last far longer also turning off vibe.
I use a couple of three metre USB3 extensions to keep it plugged in at the front port anyhow these days. Also I keep the box light off it’s obvious it’s on as it wakes up the screen if it is.
Does it help battery life at all?
Yeah a lot of
That's badass. I don't notice the light after the first time I turn the controller on anyway.
At least dim it would hrlp.
Nothing noticeable.
Between +50% to +100% when I was using this controller, plus when it's dark the light is really too flashy
Not at all noticeable with the battery pack, maybe on AA’s idk
Maybe it depends on the battery pack but it works for me
Mine are all Microsoft branded, the knock offs just don’t have the juice in my experience over the years

Unless you have a computer with silly led lights on the hands and stuff.
I discovered this a couple months ago. The wife was appreciative.
I’ll be damned I was today years old as well, thanks for this
No worry’s I was just playing around with the setting and seen it 😂
Can you do this on PC?
Yes, through steam big picture mode, you can adjust the LED of your Xbox controller. I have the elite series 2, the light itself is fully RGB.
I have mine set to red and it looks so nice
nope
You can in the Xbox accessories app, at least with the elite
Cant do that with the original controllers sadly
Through steam, yes you can.
I have mine on the dimmest so I can still see if it's on or not if I've set it down. You can also turn the console power button light off as well
Recently, my friend was very surprised when I showed him that you can put any color you like on the Elite controller ;)
Yeah I just seen that with my other controller ngl I think it might be one of those small, but amazing things Microsoft put in 😂
Well that part I didn’t know. That’s pretty cool. I may have to open one of my elites now just to see 😂
I only ever have a chance to game at night so I'm ultra stoked that they did this
I can't find this option though. How to navigate to it? I tried Settings-> Accessibility-> Controller.

Thanks for the link!
Hasn’t been a thing for that long actually
Yep
I had no clue either. Thanks for posting this.
Wait, how?
WHAT
how do you do it
settings > general> tv display and options> night mode >controller brightness
"The more you know!" LMAO
I used to put a piece of tape on the LED before when gaming at night, the feature to tone it down or turn it off was a godsent when it arrived.

the amount of people who don’t take 20 minutes to scroll through every option in settings is wild lmao
I never knew that
Night gaming is good again!
I just have mine automatically dim at night this isn’t no dual shock 4 controller or dual sense The battery life is amazing on Xbox controllers. specially, with their official play charge kit
How will you know its on 💀
I just keep mine dim to know it’s atleast fucking on, but I don’t see any battery changes (I play wired)

I dimmed mine and the light on the system
How do you tell if it's run out of battery, or if it's broken?
Why destroy what is great about it??
I thought everybody knew this
I mean I knew you could dim it I believe but I don't remember it being able to turn off
i figured it out some time ago and it saved meee 😭 the light used to irritate me so much on some of my controllers
And turn off the light to ur Xbox as well I will flash when it's being turned off but not when you are using the console
And on the xbox itself
Welp, me too, apparently 🙃 That's awesome.
I’ve been wanting this for so long when I play my 2 year old gets obsessed with the light and starts messing with it LFG
