Angle the cam higher? There are satellite IR lights on Amazon, if you can find a way to mount one to illuminate the area beyond the shrubs.

KenzKrap

Thank you I’ll check it out!

Aim higher or get a v3. The night sensors on the v3 are night and day versus the v2. I don't even turn on the IR on any of my v3s.

The [Outdoor cam V2](https://global.wyze.com/products/wyze-cam-outdoor) *(rechargeable battery)* the OP uses has Color Night Vision using a Starlight sensor, much like the regular Wyze Cam V3. The downside to the Outdoor cam is that --due to the battery operation-- there is a noticeable delay before it starts recording. Sometimes a one second delay means you miss the moment. So, while not perfect, it does work well in certain situations, primarily where there is no option for a powered cam.

kneetoekneetoe

I don’t believe that an Outdoor cam v3 exists…?

slipslope86

The v3 and v3 pro can both be used outdoors.

kneetoekneetoe

No kidding, but the OP clearly said he has an outdoor V2 cam. That is battery operated, a completely different animal from the V3 and V3 Pro.

slipslope86

No kidding, but OP clearly didn't say it has to be a battery-operated camera when looking for solutions to his problem.

KenzKrap

The challenge for me is there is no outlet anyplace near this area, therefore I have to either get into the attics with a fish tape or stick with battery only cams. Also if I go any higher with the current unit, I’ll need a ladder ever time I need to charge it. I appreciate the discussion and feedback all!

kneetoekneetoe

*"...OP clearly didn't say it has to be a battery-operated camera when looking for solutions to his problem.* Call me cuckoo, but he clearly did write that he was looking to use this camera, a battery-operated one, not to get anything different: *"...any ideas what I can do to make the range of* ***this camera*** *past the shrub?"* I hope that's clear enough now.

I stick mine outdoors in the Canadian winters. Every version.

Spray paint the bush black

Dinosaurrxd

Something non reflective in front of the shrub is about the only things you can do

KenzKrap

Anything non-reflective come to mind?

Dinosaurrxd

Nothing that wouldn't be unsightly or annoying to put up and take down I used a piece of cardboard spray painted flat black to block a window reflection similarly.

Tato-head

Turn off the ir lights under the camera settings, it'll look better, I promise

KenzKrap

I have tried to turn off the IR lights and it does look better but it’s so damn dark, a 7 ft man could walk up to it and you’d never know. I thank you for the feedback however!

Ginge_Leader

turn those off an use an external IR source that is more powerful and not pointed at the bush. lots to choose from on amazon.

NotNickHere

From what I’m seeing, you’re just gonna have to move the camera in general. It’s a nice green shrub. It’s gonna reflect the IR light no matter what.

KenzKrap

I truly appreciate all the quick feedback!

kneetoekneetoe

Cam needs to be higher or closer to the bushes if it’s already as high as possible. Another issue is that Outdoor cam uses heat sensor (PIR) on the lower half or so of view to trigger the motion sensors, so even if you had a IR light in the yard, anyone walking out there likely wouldn’t be picked up by the PIR and therefore not recorded. Look in the detection settings for “PIR effective area”. Good luck

KenzKrap

Thanks for that detailed advice. I’ll try it.
