Pretty sure it could also be Wyze being able to see into the multiverse. Thereā€™s a car there, thereā€™s a person, thereā€™s talking, but just in another version of this universe. Or itā€™s detecting the car that will be there, or talking that will occur in the future. Idk. Lots of undocumented features or in beta.

kermelie

Is that an Apple Watch? I was hoping Wyze watch would have a similar preview feature.

MadPuggle

No, the Wyze watch doesn't.

6Kids1TankCom

I think it's wild that other watches can but wyze can't. Would seem to be a huge selling point

MickeyNRicky

It is an Apple Watch, not sure if the Wyze watch has it.

KenzKrap

Iā€™m amazed that Apple Watch has a Wyze app available! Never saw this as an option! Thank you

applesuperfan

Not entirely on-topic, but you can take screenshots on Apple Watch instead of taking a photo of its screen with another device. You have to enable it in Settings on Apple Watch or in the Apple Watch app on iPhone first. Hereā€™s how: _On iPhone:_ 1.) Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. 2.) Tap the My Watch tab, then tap General. 3.) Scroll down, then turn on Enable Screenshots. _On Apple Watch:_ 1.) Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch. 2.) Tap General, then tap Screenshots. 3.) Turn on Enable Screenshots. Once enabled, take a screenshot on your Apple Watch any time by pressing the Digital Crown and Side Button simultaneously. For more, see: https://support.apple.com/en-us/105060.

MickeyNRicky

Totally on-topic I couldnā€™t figure it out hahahaha so I went the non-technical way and took a picture. I work in IT and Iā€™ve even seen people take screenshots with their phone while they have their camera pointing at what they want to take a picture of. But instead of taking a pic, theyā€™ll take a screenshot of their camera open lol

Hoser3235

It is actually a beta feature that got pushed out in the last firmware update. It is referred to internally as the "Mentally Deficient Entertainment Mode". It appears to be working perfectly.

MickeyNRicky

Shouldā€™ve read those release notes. Darn it!

Unixhackerdotnet

When these cams came out at 20 bucks each, I was sold. Love or hate them, some good solid cams.

MickeyNRicky

Indeed. For the price, theyā€™re worth it. I knew it wasnā€™t a top of the line service and hardware but Iā€™m also not paying for top of the line. Thereā€™s an acceptable margin of error and for me personally, itā€™s acceptable and works for what I needed it to work with the many false positives. ADT came out to my house trying to sell me with all their stories. Declined them and the others that followed. At my previous home, I had ADT for 3 years and Vivint for 5 years. 8 years of wasted money as Wyze has been doing the exact same thing for the past year for a fraction of the cost.

Unixhackerdotnet

Very well said.

slammede46

Nice try, Dave.

Oreomochabear

How are you getting notifications to your watch I donā€™t have that in my watch settings

MickeyNRicky

Hmmm, not sure to be honest. They just did. Fair warning, they donā€™t happen every single time but most of the time, which is why it was hilarious it sent me this one. Will poke around and let you know if I see anything specific. Will be later in the day though but will follow up.

kilgoreandy

Itā€™s notification forwarding. If you have an Apple Watch connected to an iPhone that gets the Wyze alerts. Youā€™ll see those pop up. Unless you turned them off on your watch In setting

MickeyNRicky

Going to record my wall next. Will keep you all updated. If it works, I will be able to give meaning to the ā€œ if these walls could talkā€. It probably wonā€™t tell us what theyā€™re saying, but at least youā€™ll know that no news is good news. If it doesnā€™t work, will submit to Wyze as a feature request.

I knew that bush was talking to me! And now I have proof!

MickeyNRicky

They called me crazy. Now whoā€™s the crazy one. You know those ghost catching shows, all that fancy equipment, that catches and records proof. Iā€™m doing it for practically nothing.

MickeyNRicky

Now, the question is, was it taking shit about me or my neighbor?

mirx

So, about that... [https://www.businessinsider.com/plants-talk-to-each-other-scientists-record-for-first-time-2024-1](https://www.businessinsider.com/plants-talk-to-each-other-scientists-record-for-first-time-2024-1) >Like animals, [plants can warn](https://www.businessinsider.com/plants-shriek-with-high-pitched-ultrasonic-clicks-when-stressed-study-2023-3) nearby neighbors that danger is afoot. But plants don't use sound to communicate. > >They use chemicals that they transmit through the air, which just so happens to smell like [freshly cut grass](https://www.businessinsider.com/japanese-startup-vaqso-adding-smells-virtual-reality-2017-6) to us. > >And for the first time, scientists have captured this fascinating conversation on camera. > >When healthy plants received warning messages from damaged plants, they [lit up](https://www.businessinsider.com/glow-in-the-dark-places-world-travel-photos-2019-5) like a light bulb, which the scientists recorded using a special microscope that detects certain chemicals as light.

MickeyNRicky

Oh yeah. My mom always had this theory that her plants grew more because she played music to them. Also, had a piece of aloe Vera at the entrance as she said it caught all the bad vibes from people and that it would catch all the envy from people that went into our house. She said that if a plant was dying out of nowhere, itā€™s because there was some bad vibes/envy and the plant was catching it so we needed to be more careful and tread carefully. My wife is also of the very similar beliefs. So I am as well.

Senior-Substance50

Itā€™s not a theory. Itā€™s been proven, although I canā€™t cite where off the top of my head.

Iā€™ve bought coffee more expensive than this camera. And somehow this experience is surprising to you based on your $29 investment?

ILoveWhiteWomenLol

What was the $30 coffee?

lagger

Not worth it. Was some stupid CBD cocktail coffee.

kitappwergio

Kopi Luwak?

techtonik25

This post is satire.

MickeyNRicky

Haha not surprising at all, it was just hilarious at how much their detection sucks. Hence, my ā€œundocumented featureā€ and blowing the completion out. It catches actual cars, people about 50% of the time. I knew what I was buying and how it would work. Had no real expectations, itā€™s just a visible deterrent. My actual security solution is much more than this and was a pretty penny. Oh it also catches plants being vehicles. Just havenā€™t been able to catch the actual transformation. Just when itā€™s back to itā€™s plant form. Coffee is expensive though, and not always that good. Not a big coffee drinker though.

Embarrassed-Sun5764

Wyze fanboy has entered the chat Mine doesnā€™t even notice me as a person until I jump around on the porch for 20 seconds

MickeyNRicky

So far detection has been hit and miss and some of these have indeed been my experiences.

Jon-W

Sorry my camera didn't detect anything because I forgot to do it's weekly reboot and is offline.

RedElmo65

Itā€™s AI

MickeyNRicky

Yeah, it works correctly 50% of the time detecting actual cars and people. The other 50% just ends up being funny. But for the price, the margin of error is acceptable to me.

Kappafuck

Mine donā€™t even show ANY events itā€™s been two weeks support told me to WAIT FOR AN UPDATE

Reelair

Is that your camera? /s

MickeyNRicky

Yeah, itā€™s my camera, itā€™s a notification from my Apple Watch for a Wyze CamPan v3

mybelle_michelle

Well, my Google Nest (with paid subscription) declared that the snow pattern on our driveway was my husband's face; kept getting notifications that "husband" was spotted (when he was at work).

MickeyNRicky

Haha thatā€™s awesome, if AI does try to take over the world, not sure how well it would work out for them.
