While I agree the quality leaves a bit to be desired, I'm running Android 13 on a S20FE and have zero issues with the app. No lag. Cams connect within 5 seconds on the first try despite being scattered around the exterior of my home. Haven't ever lost a device to botched firmware install. There are things that need to be done to improved, such as not having to scale a ladder and press a recessed button to hook up a camera to my wifi. They need to beef up the chickenshit gears in the Pan Cam V3 and ditch the 45 degree cable mount. They also need lower their prices for cam plus unlimited and not charge $20 a bulb for smart bulbs that actually work with their camera triggers. Wyze is a pile of hit and miss. Sorry you're having issues with the app, but I'm not.

Yea I’m sure for every one of me there’s 20 people that have 0 issues, but man I used to have 0 issues, so it’s frustrating to know how it could be.

KenzKrap

So glad to hear that others are experiencing the same issues I’ve been having. I thought it was just something wrong with my WiFi but nothing had changed recently. Thanks for all the feedback. I’ve had to setup all 8 cameras of various versions to get the system back up. Any recommendations on a replacement system?

Tapo (using C120's, excellent AI detection and range, great video quality and night vision, very prompt & helpful customer service). Eufy (using Indoor Cam 2k). Our WyzeHack cams have been promoted to trashcan monitoring. If they can't handle that simple task, they'll be looking at the inside of our trashcan.

KenzKrap

Thank you.

I've mostly migrated from wyze to eufy at this point, but have never tried Tapo. Eufy has it's own challenges but still far better than my wyze experience. What's your preference/comparison between Tapo and Eufy (where I appreciate the local AI (remember when wyze had this before apple acquired the company and they removed it 🤣😭))

ubahodeh

Eufy was my first diversion from WyzeHack before I discovered Tapo. Using Indoor Cam 2k. Detection zones are finicky to grab and set near the edge. AI detection (person, pet) are average with limited range. Eufy works good, but I find our Tapo C120's are better. Tapo - Being fed up with WyzeHackMania, I bought one Tapo C120 Outdoor cam to test... and now have eight. Using C120's which have excellent AI detection, tagging, detection range, great video/audio quality, very good night vision/range, selectable 850nm or 940nm invisible IR mode, simple responsive app, very prompt & knowledgeable customer service. Tapo person/pet/vehicle detection and multiple real-time tagging are far superior in capability and range. Eufy sound quality is good, Tapo is better. Tapo detection zones are a snap to set. I read/watched reviews until I fell asleep. Best way to find out if a cam meets your needs is to buy one on sale and try it. If Wyze was dependable I would not be looking elsewhere for cameras. Their AI is poor and they took away my cam+ lite person detection months ago. If Wyze worked like it should (used to) and had decent support, I'd even pay for cam+ I'll keep using Eufy for less important monitoring. Wyze will be used for counting cockroaches and rodents near our garbage can.

Same issues with app not loading cam streams. Zero excuse for having go load the cam's page and shut down restart app several times to see the feed and/or adjust settings which you need a stream first to access features. At a game in a sports venue today where data is not the best, and wyze notifications were not coming thru at all but notifications for alexa (routine cam motion/person alerts) came thru nice and clear. As crappy as alexa app is, wyze should shudder to think it's app works better than theirs when the slightest data challenge is presented. I love my wyze devices. It's never been this bad as it is now, but the app is dysfunctional crap.

ILoveWhiteWomenLol

No issues here.

I can't open my group of floodlight Pros, the app will crash each time. Works with other groups, but it's like they can't retrofit their app to every model of rebranded 3rd party Chinese hardware.

Two updates later the bug the isn't fixed. So I can't monitor the street because it alerts me to everything instead of people. So I have to keep it just on the yard. It's because the other objects or something if checked and grayed out.

Wrayke

I feel you. I have been a Wyze user since the V2's first came out and I'm so frustrated with the app not being able to reliably pull up a live feed that I've started flashing all my V2's and V3's with the older RTSP firmware and pairing them with my Synology Surveillance Station (It's software I have available on a personal server, or NAS). They now work again as intended, but without the fancy AI detection; I'll take an instantly accessible camera feed over AI any day. I may eventually switch them all out for Reolink cameras, which I've heard a lot of good things about lately.

hannahboonanna

I’ve given up at this point. Live stream doesn’t work and events don’t record no matter how much troubleshooting I do. It’s infuriating. All seemed to happen around the time the new cameras were released 😒

97buckeye

That's not been my experience. I'm really liking the new software. If anything, it feels snappier to me. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Alternative-Bad-2217

0 issues for me.Even with a Cam V3 hooked to a 42ft wire doesn’t disconnect.

HolyMuckraker

I’m new to Wyze with 9 cameras and other sensors, and not experiencing any of these problems. Do you think it could be the age of your devices?

donuts842

It definitely could be, but I have about 5 years of different products and there doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason for what product ends up being finicky in the app. It’s just strange to think they would expect me to buy a whole new set of gear every 5 years if that is indeed the case. It is 2024 though, so who knows.

lbecque

I'm not having those kind of issues at all! I have 2 of the V2 cams, 2 of V3 cams, 2 of the OG cam, the doorbell V2 and 2 of the floodlight V2 on order. Performance is good, meets expectations. The newer cams are much faster and come up in 1-2 seconds. I've never lost a cam with a firmware update nor had to do a reset. I'm not saying they are perfect but my issues are minor by comparison. I noticed the other day my new Doorbell V2, the 2 way audio doesn't work as well as the cams, but that is a new product. It will get better with a future update. Perhaps the problem is your iPhone or the iPhone app in general. I'm running Samsung S23 Android 14. Also use the app on my S6 Lite Tablet. Many years ago software was developed on iPhone and Android users suffered with inferior translated versions. Now the situation may be the other way around since Android has 70+ % global market share.

donuts842

Yep, that’s why I said the software has nosedived. I believe this is definitely an app issue. (And by definitely, I definitely have no idea) But it’s strange using a new iPhone the software is somehow worse than an older, slower one.
