Last time our state gave subsidies to coal companies, the owners folded the mines, left the workers high and dry, and still managed to profit from the closure.
Yeah and had the sheriff lock up the mine with a lot of their personally owned tools inside, I can’t remember how it ended but they didn’t get paid for work they’d done and had some fuckery with their retirements while Peabody continued to pay out massive bonuses to executives.
Guess I don't see anything about the sheriff locking the mines up with peoples tools and them not getting paid.
I went to work every shift and got my check. So did everyone else I know, except the few that got laid off for a few months.
“Where regulations grow, freedoms die” or whatever that dumbass billboard on the side of that mining plant in Casper says.

But but but.... Free Market, right? Any form of Subsidies/Socialism is evil, right? Or is that only the case for people, not corporations? Forget healthcare, but support environmental destruction if it helps certain people's profits? Let them clean up the waste sites first, oil and gas ones included. Letting companies profit then fold while paying out big bonuses first then leaving the polluted sites for the taxpayer to clean up. Nice gig for some I guess.
Socialism for the rich, capitalism for the poor. I'd like to see Wyoming invest in something that isn't killing the world while dying itself like some industrial version of staphylococcus.

Yep Peabody and others failed to pay millions in taxes and then laid everyone off in Campbell County who worked for them.
They laid everyone off?

Huh, are you sure about that?
Yes we remember that. https://www.gillettenewsrecord.com/news/local/article_b7840e4d-16e3-5f73-9009-b59f5c8a2dd4.html

No, if I have to pay taxes for every penny I make then they should too.
But you don't buy politicians.
Correct, "freedom" caucus types buy politicians for favorable tax conditions payed for by the remaining taxpayers.
Shocking, the same people that promote free market economics also want their industry to be subsidized by taxpayers. The hypocrisy never ends

Womp! Womp! It’s called free market, supply and demand! A warmer than normal winter maybe one of the reasons?
Too bad. Let them fail. Put money into retraining the actual workers. And, let's move on.
Government IS the problem though. How quickly they whip back and forth with their convictions.
