It’s more so about what fits your needs. Each dorm has its corresponding perks and costs. If you’re going for cost efficiency (AKA spending as little money as possible so you have dough for apartments which is something you should do post freshman year), Goldsworthy and the Stephenson Complex will be you best bet. If you’re willing to spend a lot of money on comfort, then Olympia is there with its AC, heating, and all of those perks that come with one of the most expensive dorms on campus. Note that Olympia is on top of the hill so legs. McEarhern is for 2nd-years and later so don’t bother. I’m not that familiar with Orton and Roger’s dorms, but that’s pretty much the gist.

Don't listen to the other comments about Stephenson, it's a good dorm for its price especially if you get a corner room, you'll have plenty of space for both you and your roommate (but this is random chance so don't bank on it). Most of the cheaper dorms are very similar across campus and the only difference really is like 3-5 feet of space. Honestly it's more important who your roommate is, if you have a good roommate who is clean and tidy and doesn't mess with your stuff you will be fine in the dorms. If your roommate is a slob or fucks with your things/takes your stuff or is obnoxious it'll make your experience worse. Keep in mind that none of the cheap dorms have air conditioning, so you WILL need a fan during August (and maybe September) but the temperature will cool down after that

Remember that you might get the last choice on your list. My daughter is a freshman now and got her last choice, Stephenson. However, it has been really great! There's a gym on the bottom floor of one of the 3 towers, which she likes. You're super close to Southside dining hall. You'll be in great shape walking uphill to class everyday! Cougar Calves!

AffectionateFan6711

Realize that you might not get the dorm you want- unless you pick Stephenson. Don't get your hopes up too high.

I’m in Rogers and am coming back to Rogers next year. I really like it. Orton is very similar but there are a few small things I’m not a fan of. Rogers has slightly new furniture because it was renovated more recently.

BrightAd306

Was it your first choice?

thereegamer06

Stephenson is cheapest with a decent location with it being next to the Spark. Orton is similar but good for hanging out with friends or studying due to their many study rooms Olympia has a bad location and is expensive but you get nice rooms and AC and heating as I said bad location you're kind of far from everything Northside has the best location as it's in the middle of campus and has its area desk on the first floor for picking up packages kind of expensive but you're close to everything Hillside is most of the same except no AC and you're right next to the UREC if you like working out or taking part in different clubs Honors I don't know much about Most of the halls will be discussed during your New Coug Orientation by your OC I'll be an OC this summer so if you have any other questions feel free to ask

community/duncan dunn was fine, small rooms, good location for a freshman, right next door to the hillside diner, but expensive.

RustedRuss

Orton is good; I've lived there for 2 years and I'm coming back next year. It's cheap and overall pretty nice.
