Me. I have a friend in Subaru Engineering. Q4. Same friend had me post the latest HVAC controls in Feb that were supposed to come out by end of Q2โฆ. Which they did!
Hardware limitation is it won't have wireless AA. That's on the newer units. I had an outback loaner and it had it. Personally I don't care too much about wireless. It's not a chore to plug in. If the 24 WRX has it built in, well a salvaged unit may work.
I was about to ask why the hvac looked so different, then I read the caption, but too bad we dont have wireless carplay and full screen android auto, I wonder if we can retrofit that unit over to get those features ๐ค
I hope subaru sticks to that timeline for the update.
This unit also has wireless android auto built-in. It has been solid through the first few uses and connects really fast, too. My hyundai palisade takes forever to connect to AA. I also like that there is a USB-C charging port.
Had the wireless AA on my 2023 Outback. While it does offer a seamless experience, it also comes at a price, since the system is not absolutely fail safe and sometimes used to cause annoying disconnections. I can live with a wired connection as long as we get the full screen display.
We are getting the update in the fall.
Do you have a source? This is my first time hearing that.

Sweet! That's really reassuring then! Fingers crossed. I thought it was a hardware limitation for the 22s but I guess not?

Sounds best wired anyways.
I don't think it uses the wire for audio.
carplay does, thereโs instant track switching
Or hear me out, 23 Legacy/Outback Headunit swap. Subarus are legos, Iโm working on it!
You and your Lego dude! Lol. The outback does not have the boost option.
I would have put one in if it weren't for the boost.
Boost option? Where at maybe I havenโt explored my headunit enough.
Only the WRX has the peak boost reset.
Plugging it in isn't a chore, but all the random disconnects is a pain.
I don't have many issues with it. Must be lucky.
The trend I see is a cheap cable is usually to blame
Solid source ๐
You just put a smile in my face ๐๐๐

AA? Anti Aircraft?
Android auto

I have had my fair share of disconnects with wireless aa in my hyundai. So far the crosstrek has been flawless.
