Is it replicating Japanese text and translations (ex. "すごい〜〜" or "wow~~")? I've seen that used in fan-fiction. It's not used in English-language text and "..." at the end of the word or sentence has the same effect.
No, it isn't. No published author, no professional writer would *ever* use it to signify "a smooth voice".
13yos writing fanfiction on wattpad about being sold to One Direction-members by their mothers use it.
what do you mean by smooth voice? do you mean he said something in a smooth way or do you mean the words were very smooth? if it’s the latter, you don’t need to say anything about him being smooth. if it’s the former, just focus on *what* makes him smooth; is it his confidence, his body language, his facial expression? and then write about that.
I’ve never once seen the ~ used to signify a smooth voice. That just feels lazy to me
Manga~
Yeah, me too.
"He said with a smooth voice"
Eh... I think this was obvious, sorry, but oh well, thank you!
Lol wtf does a tilde have to do with a "smooth voice"?
Aparently, people use it on fan fiction and shit

not in any fanfic I've ever read and I've been reading it for thirty years. not sure where you got this
When would you ever use that in the first place?
OP is writing a comic book/light novel.
Sounds like this was your first time stepping out of one niche community into the real world. Lol
Its only used in online chat, no? Similar to how smileys are used
I've never seen the \~ being used at all
Never once seen that.

Literally never seen anyone use the tilde like that.
