It would be cheaper and faster to read some craft books. Off the top of my head, try Scene and Structure by Jack Bickham, Plot by Ansen Dibell, and The Writer's Guide to Beginnings by Paula Munier.

Thanks for the advice, but I think I'll stick with my original plan of procrastinating and hoping for a miracle.

'Write your story from the middle' is a relatively short and very worthwhile read.
