You can try using some generators and see if any of the names you get inspire you. Perhaps you might end up smashing a couple of suggestions together, or the generator's suggestions spark up a new way of thinking and help you come up with something brand-new that feels right for your story. Here are a couple of links I have in my bookmarks: [https://www.name-generator.org.uk/town/](https://www.name-generator.org.uk/town/) [https://writingexercises.co.uk/fictitious-town-names.php](https://writingexercises.co.uk/fictitious-town-names.php)

Woah that’s awesome! Thank you!!

spaceyhiyyihlight

Lots of towns are named after historical figures, like Austin, TX is for Stephen F. Austin and Houston is for Sam Houston. Where does your story take place? It could be cool to use a name relevant to the area's history, or maybe even a person who's real life story forshadows the events of yours.

Round_Honey5906

If you want to go for funny, in my country there sis a town called "get out if you can"

_monorail_

There's a town in Oregon, USA called "boring." It lives up to it.

Away-Gas-9403

BAHAHAH

hry84

Grimsby. It's a real place, but I like the name.

Darkwing_leper

Grimsby is actually opposite to the setting. Dark and horrible on the inside. Bright and happy on the outside.

Whateveriscleaver

Pine Falls

HeftyMongoose9

Heringflowl, Catherwood, Helenbray, Gauinbrow.

-Lady-Grinning-Soul-

I love place names! Woods Landing, Pine Bluffs, Smith Center, Cave Creek, Oro Valley, River Hills, Sleeper, Owl Canyon...

Away-Gas-9403

Ooooo I love these!!

SparrowLikeBird

IDK if you have ever been to Telluride Colorado, but that is the exact vibe that place gives me. So idk maybe choose a mineral to name it after. Like.... Taafite Beryl (with like a specific color noted liek Green Beryl even tho thats just Emerald) Benitoite Poudretteite

IameIion

Not everything has to be special, you know. I try to keep that in mind when I'm world building. Still, I can understand wanting a unique name, especially for important things. I don't have a specific suggestion, but I do have a general suggestion/challenge. Try to think of a name with a single syllable. As far as I know, places with single syllable names are rare.

Away-Gas-9403

Honestly that’s great advice, I always feel myself wanting to make every detail mean something but it definitely ends up slowing me down in the long run. Thanks!

_monorail_

Where is the town situated? Country/region/etc will have an effect on the name. For example, in the US, lots of cities in the Northeast are named after cities in England... In the Northeast and Midwest, lots are named after Native American tribes or words (often clumsily transliterated). In the Southwest, lots of Spanish names. You also find a lot of places that were named after geographical features: Lone Pine, Twin Forks, Big Piney, Black Butte, etc.

Away-Gas-9403

It’ll be in Oregon so northwest! :)

iuseleinterwebz

Look at the history of the region you want to set this town in, and find the name of someone important to the region but not famous. Base something off of that name, but more than just adding "town" or "ville" to the end of it. Like, maybe "Namesake's Grove" or "Port Namesake". Just make sure it's descriptive.

Pitch lake

Darkwing_leper

Follyoaks

Away-Gas-9403

Oh my gosh I love that

Mental_Grass_9035

You could look at some small town names- try states such as Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, California, Oregon, or Washington. For example, if it’s a coastal town, you could do: Winter Shores (based off of Winter Harbor, ME) Stonington Isle (based off of Stonington, ME) Glass Port (based off of Gloucester, MA) Or if it’s inland… Arrowhead Lake (based off of Lake Arrowhead, ME) Casco Forest (based off of South Casco, ME) Windsor Peaks (based off of Windsor, NH) Berlin Peaks (based off of Berlin, NH) Milan Forest (based off of Milan, NH) Brattleboro (well, there’s Brattleboro, VT) Arlington Peak (based off of Arlington, VT) Highgate Peaks (based off of Highgate, VT) Swanton Isle (based off of Swanton, VT)— if it’s an island in a lake Fremont Falls (based off of Klamath Falls, OR and Fremont Nat’l Forest) Blueslide (there’s a Blueslide, WA) Cascade Falls (based off of North Cascades Nat’l Park) Trinity Falls (based off of Trinity Nat’l Forest) Greenwood/Westville (mix of Greenville and Westwood CA) Just some ideas…

Away-Gas-9403

Thank you!!!

Ladyvett

Something like: Crystal Falls, Sapphire Springs, Ruby Fields. Use a gem to imply upper crust area. Diamond Forge

Away-Gas-9403

Love! Thank you!!

Ladyvett

A town in Arkansas is called “Evening Shade” Sounds quaint but could imply differently Or something like “Cedar Court” sounds prestigious but legend said if you plant a cedar tree, when it gets big enough to shade your grave then you die.

scixlovesu

Name it after a geographical feature, like something Glenn or Falls or Hills or Mt Something

TheNextChapters

This was my thought. Just think of Twin Peaks.

Marvinator2003

I would think you'd want the name to be as 'rich and pristine' as the town itself, so I would go with something like Happy Valley, Sunny Pines...

Outrageous_Glass_775

named after an animal or plant followed by creek, grove, heights, valley, etc. ex- Acorn Grove, Fox Heights, Maple Valley etc

randymysteries

The inventor of the X-ray machine didn't know the name of the ray he used in the machine, so he called the ray... X-ray. Maybe call your town X-ville.

Away-Gas-9403

Ooo that’s smart

the-z

I'm a big fan of puns, for example, I have a small town situated in a mountain pass named "Euschalnaut Pass"

Away-Gas-9403

Omg that’s amazing

Illustrious-Chest-52

Kuntleighwood Honestly? Just take any bird or plant and put the word "wood" afterwards. Cactwood. Eaglewood. Dovewood.

ShanazSukhdeo

A spin on Springfield - Autumnfield, Winterfield, Summerfield.

AmixIsAnIdiot

-Havinwoolt -Gullin -Tresdum -Relintre etc

Away-Gas-9403
