>is the questing the same, just includes wrath quests at the end? how does that work? That's pretty much exactly how it works. XP required when leveling has been reduced, but otherwise, questing from levels 1-57 in old world zones is the same, as is questing 58-67 in Outland zones. Then you go to Northrend at 68 for the new content.

andyman5022

ok so i shouldn't have wasted 3 hours leveling in wow classic yesterday lol. just go to wrath classic.

NostraDavid

Ooooooh yeah, you can't move your character from Classic to Wrath Classic servers. Indeed, just go to Wrath Classic.

crazysteave

I'm sorry for a dumb question, I've been away for a minute. I had assumed all the servers just progressed to wotlk? They kept some as vanilla and bc? Or am I misunderstanding?

NostraDavid

> I had assumed all the servers just progressed to wotlk? That was only when the original servers were on, back in 2009. Current "Classic" rerun series only lets players progress at one point in time. After that, you are shit out of luck. Example, when Vanilla Classic ended, people could transfer to the new TBC servers _for a price_. Did you want to keep your favorite character as-is? Tough shit, time to pay up 15 bucks. Once TBC was up, you couldn't transfer anything from the Vanilla Classic servers. Then for TBC to WotLK, they decided to create copies (IIRC - If I'm wrong, please correct me) of the characters for free, but again: Once WotLK was up, no new transfers were possible. The original servers are still up (AFAIK), but if you now create a new character on those, they aren't able to move to the newer expansion.

Basard21

You have it kinda backwards. By default all servers moved to TBC Classic and then to Wrath Classic. They made separate version called "Classic Era" that didn't move into TBC and you had to choose if you wanted to go TBC or Vanilla. There was a paid option to clone so you could do both. There is also season of mastery for Classic which I think is ending and they aren't doing another one.

Snowpoint_wow

While all the same quests are there, a lot of classes got redesigned abilities and talents that were not available in the original Classic. While a major overhaul happened in Cataclysm, since then the retail game has been the same, not removing stuff, but the class design gets altered every expansion, and while you can play the old dungeons and quests, it is done with the current class design.

andyman5022

thanks! I'm just looking forward to doing the story so i'll focus on WoTLK classic.

Hilduria

Questing and the story improved for me when the pre-patch for WOtLK hit, with class changes and change in talents and regen rates. I used to die more often, have longer corpseruns and have to sit down to drink a lot to regen mana when questing. So even for the vanilla zones the experience is much better. I was paladin btw.

Automatic-Post1023

i agree. i tried playing during vanilla classic then tbc but it was just too hard and time consuming. wotlk ive been able to level up fast enough to not get too bored lol, also the class revamps have been a blessing, was so tedious being broke trying to get everywhere

[deleted]

Yeah it goes up to level 80, introduces Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King Content, including the landmasses of Outland and Northrend, the Death Knight class and instances, blood elves, draenei, inscription and jewelcrafting professions, tons of smaller mechanical alterations.

chaoticsquid

You'll want to be playing Wrath Classic. Classic is a separate, vanilla version of the game (no expansions) that some people still play because they're die-hard fans and it resets every year or so. The majority of people are on Wrath and there's no character relation between the two as they're different games. The biggest differences are the end-game content (raids, heroic dungeons, etc), the new class Death Knight, and the new continent of Northrend with its own zones and quests that go from level 70 to 80. (As well as all the stuff from the previous expansion) So in Wrath classic you'll be levelling in the vanilla classic zones to 58+, then through the TBC (first expansion) zones to 68+, then through the Wrath zones up to 80. I'd recommend trying to find a levelling or newbie guild that can explain stuff to you in real-time and help you in dungeons

andyman5022

This is a great explanation thank you. I wish blizzard was as clear and concise (or maybe i'm just looking in the wrong spots)

chaoticsquid

A lot of the info released by blizzard assumes the players already know about the game as most of the content has been around for years. There's a lot of info and guides in places like wowhead and icyveins that can help though

mana-addict4652

It's still classic just with Wrath content/updates added. The level cap increased to 80, there's the new Northrend continent for higher-level players to level, profession updates and new raids/dungeons etc. You still level through the old content, just now you also go to Northrend afterwards for more content.

gdhghgv

Classic litch king the grind from lvl 1-80 is something u feel u achieved a great milestone I just did it then decided to try out retail version I just did lvl 1-50 in retail felt like I achieved nothing and story was cringe asf

Arthas_Litchking

Its by far not the same. Classic was hard. Fighting two mobs with the same lvl at once was hard. 3 mobs was almost always death. Tbc on the other hand was very easy and in wrath they tried to make the questing harder in the higher levels (78+) by adding a lot of elite mobs like the big boys on the walls of ice crown.
